- So I got a call for 7 rescues all within 600ft of the same spot at Sand Hollow lake. This was definitely a sand trap.

Thanks for watching, from all of us at Matt's off-road recovery!
I'm impressed by the amount of free jobs Matt does once he is already out at Sand Hollow Lake. He could easily charge $50-100 per car and people would gladly pay it, but he is truly kind and caring. We need more Matt's in the world!

A good part of the reason I love to follow this channel is the overall friendly and positive attitude of Matt, his family, and staff. Nice to watch wonderful people
Yeah for real
A year or so ago when I first started watching Matt and the team popping people out of trouble I wondered how long such content would be interesting? It turns out watching good people, in a good family, in a good community in a really beautiful part of America....doing something they are really good at and teaching and building up other people along the way never gets boring. Love you guys, thanks for your hard work and content
We see so much bad that when good comes along we can't stop watching.

I can clearly see why you put Lizzie in the driver's seat, most of those victims had no clue when you said, "help a bit but don't run over the rope." Entertaining video nonetheless.
I winced when the guy drove over the rope.
I pulled my Uncle out of a snowbank and he stayed on the throttle. Did not run over my rope but I had to gas it to keep him from hitting me.
@@koolerking440 Get the H outta there....*winced*... unless you were winching someone else out while watching this LOL....I scoffed, did a PFFFT when the driver went on the rope. UGH. Matt must sigh a lot.

Jeep XJs are awesome.
Matt's interaction with people is just wholesome as all get out.. a great way to start the day.
The second he's having a bad day and gets a tiny bit curt with someone, the internet will roast him alive. Staying positive no matter what is a good strategy and builds business & subs.
Matt, you're noting short of a superstar! A real genuine good person!
I can't go a day without a Matt video. If there is not a new one then I watch an older one. It shows how much he has improved the ability of his builds. He keeps improving them as time goes on. The Banana impressed me by what he could do with it several years ago when it was nearly stock then it kept getting improved and then he built the Morrvair which I love just because it's a corvair of all things (I just love the sound of it pulling under a load) and it seems to work better than the Banana and now the wrecker which we will be seeing a lot more of as soon as Chad (amazing man with awesome skills) finishes the wiring. How much better can a recovery channel get? Sand, mud, snow or rocks, it doesn't matter, like Ed says "we'll get em out". I am so glad that Matt decided to start videoing his work and share it with us. I found his channel somehow from the beginning and watched it improve from week to week and look at it now with 1.48 million subs. It couldn't happen to a better person, family and crew who share his success with so many people in so many different ways.
This illustrates the importance of the driver's role in the buried vehicle, reminds me of when I was an electrician and green helpers would not grasp the role you play in feeding wire into conduit opposite the pulling end.
Yeah until after they fight you on it and you make them switch roles and pull the loom through while it binds up. The world is full of know it all's.
Yes to both!
Even pulling Romex through a couple bins in a house if you don't have someone helping you it's a bitch
Hell yes, I'm on the data side, cat6 is a bitch!
That's why they always pull.

Or so that Matt looks great on film and gets more subscribers. I do believe he is a nice guy, but he is also a smart business person. The biggest jerk in the world could have made this video to make themselves look good. Remember, these are basically commercials for Matt's towing business.
Yeah, but then you don't get a shirt. LOL I always wondered when he offered help instead of being called, if he charged or not. I'm sure it all has a lot of criteria on weather it's free or not.

Well done. Reminds me of a couple of years ago on a Boxing Day. My XJ and I pulled people out of the snow for 13 hours and I never left my neighbourhood.
Your a great man Matt for not charging those people. Hopefully they gave you something for doing it anyway
As a business owner I would have paid him without a doubt. Have done it before on other service that had value to me and they said no charge. They are being kind and generous in offering to do it for free, so I think the right thing to do is be kind in return and give them something for their time and equipment. @@rodneymartin6154 yeh I'd say that's a real emergency pressure
20 PSI is better, if you encounter a hard track now and then amongst all the sand and then you wont roll your tyres off the rim.
Some things I just wouldn't do for fun ...if I had to go to places like this I'd rather do it after a bit of rain when the sand is consolidated. Your motor tends to get really hot pushing through so much sand without the cooling effect of the open road ...It's like the term 'pleasure cruise' on a boat,

Jeez banana must have the strongest cooling system ever built! Obsessed with your channel now it's so good to watch!

While doing volunteer work for Red Cross, at a marathon canoe/kayak event I did a huge set of recoveries, as on that day we were at a sandy bend on the Murray River. Numerous people ventured yoo far from the access road onto the sand, and got stuck in numerous states. A total of 15 vehicles on a 100m long strech of sand about 50 m to 120m wide with mold slope to river level.
Some were a simple tow but about 10 needed winching.
The most ridiculous stuck vehicle was a Mercedes UNIMOG Army truck. Basically judged impossible to get bogged with its huge military wheel, enormous clearances/wheel travel and large range of ultra low gears. The young private driving must have lacked even rudimentary driving ability. He got bogged in 4WD low gearing and made it ever more difficult the longer he tried. I had to winch him some 5m and advise him a bit on driving technique, while he coped extreme ribbing by his fellow army guys, who refused any help to maximise his pain.
My Nissan Patrol 3.3L Diesel with 24v electricals and 24V Warn winch worked flawlessly. No charge to anyone either. Did get Red Cross thanks at camp that night.

So interesting to see so many trucks that do not lower their tire pressure when on sand. You can clearly tell that the Banana is running low psi on the sand, whereas that gen 1 taco was probably 40-50 psi.

That would be a bad idea. Who's gonna work there? The offroad recoveries are only a minor fraction of his towing business, about 5% according to Matt himself. People manning that office would sit on their asses most of the day. And from Matts yard to Sand Holow entrance is only a 10 minute drive.
Dude you have the best job. I enjoy my career but man, you get exercise, fun and being outdoors. I envy your line of work. Maybe give a way a Matt's off-road experience to a lucky subscriber. Do a couple rescues then go off-road and finish up with dinner. Id throw my name in that hat.
This could be a give away price 😃
Sorry to spoil the party but the "Matt s offroad recovery experience" seems to be more like loooong hours, including late night and early morning, non stop running under the sun chasing the cars, sand in every body part, mud, uncomfortable rides, snow, and food only if you are lucky. That said, still, a great experience and idea for sure.
Dont be fooled by the fun aspect. It is hard hard work
New and expensive truck is super stuck and he asks “how much you charge?”
Matt: enough to pull you out.
It is a honest question. When you see what a tow home costs when you break down you might think a recovery is at least that and you would call a friend or two to pull you out instead of paying the business crazy money.
We know Matt has fair prices, but not everybody does
@@willemkauffeld7679 that’s why I have AAA.
@@maldodanny but does AAA cover offroad recovery ?
@@willemkauffeld7679 I’m not sure but I also got a Matt’s Off Road Recovery rope. You never know when you going to need it for yourself or to help somebody.
@@maldodanny
I have helped several people on the side of an interstate highway who had AAA but couldn't get them to help. AAA is useless. It's kinda like the warranty on the box in Tommy boy. It makes you feel cozy thinking that you are covered, but if you have any problems other than out of gas, you find out how useless they are.
I marvel at how the yellow car withstands the jolt as the rope tightens and the trapped car resists movement. I also marvel at the strength of the various ropes and cables. They are remarkable.
Do any of these people that are stuck air down before they go off road in the sand. I live on the east coast and our beach sand is different in different places. I especially like when you get behind the wheel and drive them out. What a great channel.
The sound of the bananas engine is pretty cool!
Jamie did great (or the video editor did lol) the guy wiggling his wheels when he saw Matt do it cracked me up. Good job!
Those jeeps are bad ass, my brothers towed my dads f350 long bed threw a 4x4 trail and back home. He had the same hood vents as you lol
You guys are truly the best. Love watching you all.
I just can't understand how is possible to have 129 dislikes for this guy. I don't even live in his country but would appreciated to have more Matt's in mine. That job here (Japan) will cost me at least U$300 bucks. Good work Matt! Be healthy and keep the pace, those "dislikers" don't deserve the a minute wasted.
So when it gets really hot all of the moisture evaporates out of the sand and makes the sand very loose and light. Is that what happens?
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery
Well don't keep us in suspense...
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery 108...when it's that hot, the sand start to melt and turn liquid! LOL!
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery Something more to it like... the sand (or the air trapped in it) expands? Or something more like... sand hollow is a magical place and the sand does not follow the rules of physics?
One factor, I assume is that because it's hot people don't want to walk all the way to the water and drive instead of walking from the road.
@@straybullitt Not sure it applies in this specific location but Matt's mentioned grain structure of sand before in another spot. Instead of being a bunch of little sharp-edged crystals, it's more like tiny round beads. Seeing as even the morrvair needs some revs to get moving despite its serious kit, I'm guessing this sand is of that nature too. Slippery as soap. It's so deceptive for people who don't know. It looks nice and compacted in the footage...
Again!!! A job that my high school counselor NEVER told me about!!
I KNOW RIGHT!?
its never too late to make a change!
I told my GF, IF I ever leave TX to retire, it will be in Utah. I would LOVE that as a "retirement" job.
But, but, you need to go in massive debt, then realize there are no underwater basket weaving jobs waiting for you in the real world!
because NO COLLEGE REQUIRED..They push college..And it isnt for everyone..Actually not 4 most based on unemployable degrees people get..
Jamie. You did great on camera crew.
dont care what it sounds like. i can hear you and keep up the great work!!!! rob
I am amazed at the stresses you put on that engine without it overheating. Good design. Well done.
