  • In this episode of this series, we will continue what we left off on Episode 1, prepping this SC for a problem-free long road trip. With our first trip to Houston just days away, these are the Oem items we replaced: Alternator, Starter, Water Pump, Driver Belt and Tensioner, all Coolant hoses, all A/T hoses and filter, and spark plugs. Then Brian at Paint Society finished off with refinishing the front end including headlights, front bumper, grill and rear tailgate trim.
    Now this Element SC is ready to hit the road. Stay tuned for the AHC Meet coverage videos for both Houston and NJ.

    I’ve never heard of an intake tube going bad, even the rubber ones. My GSR original intake tube has been on the car for all of its 28 years, with no issues.

    • @ahcgarage
      @ahcgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’re right about the order intake tube like the Integra, but the newer models are different. That’s what we do everyday 😃

    • @trap_the_ripper1547
      @trap_the_ripper1547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your Integra's tube doesn't need to be flexed as much to change the filter. The Element's tube also sits above the engine...and these guys are in FL. So its bound to crack at some point.

  • @ct4cf

    A professional video like this is missing several things:
    1. Use of fender covers
    2. Anti seize compound on spark plugs in that aluminum head
    3. Silicone dielectric compound on the spark plug boots
    4. Core support &various brackets anti-rust &paint
    I would not hv changed out a working starter or alternator. Those items generally outlive electric fans& sensors. Rather I would’ve concentrated on more obvious items like sensor replacement, fuel injector & throttle body cleaning. I might’ve vacuumed down the AC charge, recycled & processed the Freon, replaced the desiccant bag in the accumulator if serviceable, drained the compressor oil, reseal, vacuum& recharge. I would’ve added an auxiliary automatic transmission oil cooler whilst the bumper cover was down.

    • @ahcgarage
      @ahcgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion. Fender covers 100% but the others are not recommended by Honda

    • @ct4cf
      @ct4cf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ahcgarage now it’s recommended by this NIASE Certified Master Tech/ Mechanical Engineer. I also own the Element SC &an Acura TL A-Spec.
      I also recommend a valve lash adjustment North of 100-120K miles &so does Honda. I would’ve upgraded the battery 2a DUHON LiON w/emergency backup rather than waste good money &man hours renewing good working, expensive items like that. If u we’re looking 4extra things 2do that r meaningful, I provided u w/several more logical choices than replacement of a working starter& alternator. U missed key advice items. There’s a difference between OEM reconditions 2make $& being frugal& smart. There’s a difference between being a Tech who acts in his clients’ best interests &blindly following OEM recommendations. If u r going 2play smart on TV, b smart.

    Your tires are rubbing because the OFFSET of the wheels 🛞 and the Spacers you're using... I am running the same size of tire on my Element 225/55/R18, but my wheels are the Genuine 2017-18 Honda CR-V's alloy wheels with +45 Offset, and there's no rubbing at all (not inside, nor outside of the wheel well). first of all I'd like to say I'd like to bring by one of my rare Hondas instead of an appointment sometime with you guys if possible
    I agree with you man I think when you have somewhat rare model you should modify it yeah tastefully you don't have to go crazy do something to make it different!! I like rare Hondas I MYSELF HAVE A 1 OWNER 60K ORIG MILES 2004 V6 6-SPEED COUPE ACCORD with EVERY HFP option available THEY CAME WITH FRONT LIP REAR LIP SIDE SKIRT SPOILER WHEEL PACKAGE LEATHER SEATS HEATED SEATS STEREO NAVIGATION CARBON FIBER TRIM
    I am daily driving this so I didn't want to go too crazy like you were saying in the video just do it tastefully at my shop I made sure to go through all the maintenance first front to back top to bottom exedy clutch flywheel every belt every hose every gasket every seal plugs ignition coils fuel injectors fuel pump every piece of suspension ball joints control arms tie rods axles wheel bearings rack and pinion brakes and tires everything!!!!!!! To make sure maintenance is at 100% before mods!!!
    And then just did tasteful mods since it already has the hfp body kit or lip kit whatever you want to call it I just did J37 intake manifold and throttle body precat deletes J pipe and nice tasteful dual exhaust that's not loud So that means why is it perfect sounds good More power than stock without hurting the reliability
    I think if you guys did that Honda Element that same way and just did some tasteful mods like a nice cold air intake maybe a header full exhaust some nice one piece suspension obviously don't go too low since you guys are going to use it to travel but at least maybe give it like an inch drop or something it would be perfect
    That's why I just did tasteful mods on the Accord and went through everything maintenance wise I have my built 1995 Honda Civic EX coupe that I've had for 7 years as a full-blown track car if I want to drive my real race car
