How to Get the Freelance Visa in Germany! (Advice for Those Who Can Fly to Germany without a Visa)

- In this video I'll be sharing every single detail about how to get the freelance visa in Hamburg, Germany. All of the steps are down below!

3 Pre-requisites!
❇️ Step one: move to Germany as a tourist if you’re from one of these 7 countries: Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea or the US. I was able to to do this during the travel ban because my German boyfriend filled out the non-married couple invitation form: www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/ku...
❇️ Step two: Once you move into your room/apt in Germany, you need to register your address so that you can get the paper called the "Meldebestätigung" - You get this with the nearby foreigners office / city hall (Kundenzentrum). You have to make an in-person appointment for this at this website here: click on Einwohnerwesen then select 1 Wohnsitz, Anmeldung als Hauptwohnsitz: serviceportal.hamburg.de/Hamb...
❇️ Step 3: Once you have your Meldebestätigung, find the correct email for your nearest Ausländerbehörde that is in charge of your address in Hamburg (the top of your Meldebestätigung says which district is yours). To find the correct email go to this website: www.hamburg.de/harburg/kunden...
❇️ Step 4: TIME TO ATTACH ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTS AND SEND AN EMAIL (FROM STEP 3):
This is what I said in the text part of my email:
"Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
Es geht um einen Antrag für ein freiberuflichen Aufenthaltstitel.
Angefügt sind: 3 Interessen Erklärungen, Aktueller Kontostand, Einkommen von 2020, Meldebestätigung, Empfehlungsschreiben der letzten Anstellung, Antrag eines, Aufenthaltstitels, Reisepass, Lebenslauf, Krankenversicherung
Bitte geben Sie mir nach der Prüfung einen Termin für das weitere Vorgehen. Ich benötige einen Termin vor dem 10.01.2021, da dann meine Urlaubserlaubnis von 90 Tagen abläuft.

1️⃣.) The Meldebestätigung (See step two above)

5️⃣.) screenshots of any income that you have coming in
6️⃣.) I included a recommendation letter from my past employer

9️⃣.) your health insurance. Travel insurance is ok for the initial email BUT for the actual appointment they need to see a real private one. They asked me to have my real private health insurance company sign this document as proof that it meets the requirements: welcome.hamburg.de/contentblo...
♦️*HOW TO GET PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE:*
➼ Barmenia was able to sign my paper for my appointment so I recommend them (I also found a sneaky way to get into TK public health insurance by finding a job and the job contract got me in)

It's every state (Bundesland) that has different forms and requirement not every city
it just is the case that Hamburg is a sovereign city-state, 1 of 3 in Germany with Berlin & Bremen.

Everyone knows that the German bureaucracy can be very stressful.
It's a miracle that internet and email are already being used. Usually everything is on paper, signed and stamped.
That was already the case under the emperors, that did not change in the Weimar era, the brown era only brought more paper. And after that, almost nothing has changed.
Only now with social distance everything suddenly works digitally.

2020 wurde die mögliche Anzahl der Einwanderer nicht erreicht. Vor den Toren Europas warten Menschen darauf zu kommen. Vielleicht währe es sogar sinnvoll die Besten einzuladen....
Aber dieses der Bevölkerung zu sagen wird politischen Mut brauchen. Ich höre jetzt schon die Empörung und den Aufschrei.
Aber vielleicht haben wir Deutschen in dem Lockdown endlich wieder Zeit uns selbst um die Bevölkerungszahl zu kümmern, dann brauchen wir weniger Einwanderer.

Great video, I have a question please, if I am a consultant with international organizations and working remotely and I am visiting Germany for short term visa, can I stay longer and get residency?
The Meldebestätigung (main residence registration paper) in Germany, Austria etc. is a good thing compared to the US: in case of elections, every citizen is automatically registered to vote, unlike in the US where people have to register to vote on their own and many remain off the voter rolls in every election and turnout is then lower compared to DE/AUT.
Also Great Britain is in the group of countries that may enter visa-free even for employment purposes. Source: working in migration law.

in Germany intention counts a lot .. obviously the math needs to work .. “Absichtserklärungen” are not legally binding as you say .. it needs to be said that these checks and requirements are quite normal internationally, but do vary .. Freiberuflich means Self-employed, which is the easiest law form of a business registration .. the 1-year thing is the time required to enter into the broader social system .. Private Insurance will cost about €300-450/month. Many have a base public insurance as employees and purchase a “private Zusatzversicherung”.

The thing that gets me is you have to register your address before you apply for anything, but to get a place with an address you need a bank right? how do you open a bank without an address?
it depends what you’re looking for. you don’t need a bank to live in a shared apartment / WG. and Airbnb’s. I didn’t need a German bank account here for anything until I got a job that needed one to send payments to

when you first apply, yes the government wants to see at least 2 clients from Germany. the other clients can be from wherever though. the main money should be from the German clients though. sometimes I read differing opinions so I would do your own research on it :)

Die Mitgliedschaft in der Künstlersozialkasse kann auch Nachteile haben, denn Auftraggeber müssen zusätzlich zu dem vereinbarten „Lohn“ Beiträge an diese abführen. Wenn man die Auftraggeber nicht im Vorfeld darüber informiert kann es zu Ärger wegen der zusätzlichen Kosten führen.
Das ist egal ob man Mitglied ist oder nicht. Jeder Unternehmer muss an die Künstersozialkasse zahlen, wenn er einen "Künstler " bezahlt. Z.B. wenn jemand einem Unternehmer ein Logo entwirft.
Man kann nur verhindern, dass man zahlen muss, indem man eine GmbH engagiert.
Seems like a lot of work.
