    Another thing to remember for Shadow in the Warp: you can pop it in your command phase OR your opponent's command phase. It can be swingy and random, but when it works it can absolutely wreck your opponent's strategy for a turn, especially if they were planning to use their command points actively instead of reactively.

    • @WednesdayNightWarhammer
      @WednesdayNightWarhammer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yep, I almost always only shadows in my opponents turn.

      If you use it in you opponents command phase, does that prevent them from scoring with the newly battle-shocked units? In other words, if they score VP at the "Beginning of their command phase" and you use it to neutralize the OC of several objective holding units, do they score the points first or take the Battleshock test first? (Since Battle shock tests usually occur before scoring) Also, if you use it, and an enemy unit is already battleshocked, do they still have to take a test? if they pass it do they remove that original battle shock?

    • @Celentar
      @Celentar 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@madlarkin8 You score at the end of commandphase after the regular battle-shock tests. So yes shadown in the warp absolutly wrecks primary scoring for you opponent as well unless he has some sticky objectives.

    Another thing I also do with my lone ops is what I call the”Lictor Lock”. Essentially I deploy them safe but close to my opponent and charge it into my opponent biggest units.
    If my opponent has a deathstar unit, I can trade my 55pt lictor for a 70+pt character, 1cp and 1/2 turns from an expensive squad.
    If they have a knight or baneblade equivalent, I can lock them up for a turn, then either die or fall back for the gun line.

    I find an early shadows, turn 1 or turn 2, most effective. The more units on the table the better chance some will fail. I have never won a game because something was battle shocked. But the Neurolictor debuff early can help when they are strongest.

    • @WednesdayNightWarhammer

      Nice! Yeah, I’ve never shadows turn one, but I could see how it could be useful. I mostly use it for possible primary denial.

    Cheers! This has given me some interesting things to think about.
    I've had 6 games in the last 6 days, and I definitely screw up my deployment and game plan, I sorta wing it..(pun intended I run flying hive tyrant).
    Having the spare base to help plan where I'm going is a very good idea as I keep move blocking myself and/or see better lines later.
    I think this has convinced me I need a biovore or 2 now to try and help screen my stuff :)
    On a side note...my best shadows ever, was against necrons, failed all battleshocks holding 4 objectives on linchpin...
    It's the closest I've gotten to beating my mate in the last 10 years of 40k (his high level tournie player) and I lost by 16 haha.

      I actually just had a game over the weekend where i got my best Shadows off too, also against Necrons. It was a 2v2, 1k per player, and shadows completely blanked all but one necron unit that round, basically freeing me to focus on the orks on the other table half.
      We ended after turn 3, won that game like 27-2 (playing Pariah Nexus with no home objective scoring, to encourage fighting for the center)

      Yeah… it can be really matchup dependent. Against armies like Orks or Necrons or even Tau it can do pretty well, but all marines is rough. That’s why I don’t count on it, but am really happy when it does well!

    Thanks for the info, I just got my hive tyrant assembled and slowly adding units around him for that assault lethal death ball. I’ve only seen shadow in the warp deny one primary. So not been great, but it did put the game away when I was holding my 3 primary, and opponent only had one. Does anyone use mass termagants? I have 70 of them from a couple starter boxes and trying to figure out how to use them. I’m still learning move blocking and screening.

      @@WednesdayNightWarhammer I’ve watched the invasion fleet tactics and the tyranid tier list. Both were great. I think you mention about building a list around termagants. Not sure if you played on in your Wednesday night game. Seems like a big block in hive fleet could just keep respawning 2xD3+3. Seems like better choices for competition, but a Leviathan box plus a starter box gets new players a ton of them.

    Thank you so much for this info!
    However I got a couple questions. I was a part of a tournament for my warhammer club, and I got bodied by a sister player. When I asked for advice, they said I should move up my exocrine and other tanky bugs because they're super tanky. However, I've also heard they're meant to sit down and hold firing lanes, I'm just not sure.
    The second question is, how do I better keep my lictor alive? I've had him die to havocs in 6 inches (Who were then slaughtered by OoE and a carnifex) and also a group of marines coming in range to shoot em. With the SM there was a ballistus dreadnaught on the expansion objective so I couldn't put any big bugs there, though maybe I should have gone for the other one? Not too sure.

    • @WednesdayNightWarhammer
      @WednesdayNightWarhammer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not sure I would move up my exocrines into sisters right now either. The meltas can absolutely delete them since they have no invuln
      Also it sounds like your lictor did its job! Making your opponent commit a unit so that your carnifexes can come in and kill that unit is perfect!

    • @crustymanman7170
      @crustymanman7170 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WednesdayNightWarhammer I had another quick question! What would you if you're in a position where you don't have secondaries that could use a sporemine, nothing you need to block charges for, and you can't screen anything? I had a game today where I shot a few spore mines that kinda just sat in some areas and didn't really do anything. Maybe my opponents just doesn't advance much, idk

I miss the days of being able to put a field of nids down and just move my massive swarm across the board and just keep bringing more out with my tervigons. Tyranids are not designed to do small model count battles.

    • @WednesdayNightWarhammer
      @WednesdayNightWarhammer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey!
      I think you’ll find that there’s still some pretty good swarm builds in invasion fleet. The 5+ fnp and unending swarm stratagem actually really help the swarm identity. I haven’t tried them too much, but tervigons are still pretty sweet.
      I encourage you to give it a go. 10th is a lot of fun and I still think swarm is possible!
