You saved me - I was ready to return it. This is the best kind of video on TH-cam- simple, clear, made by a nice person - not full of commercials or boring stories. Very, very appreciated!
Question... The hardwire kit only has a ground (black) and power (red)? No accessory? (yellow) Reason for asking I've seen other vids with all three. Thanks for the video. Gives me the confidence to do it myself vs pay someone to do it.
@@vman Word of caution. Stop the camera before removing SD card otherwise you risk losing some files. Should go without saying, but I made that mistake. No fault to the camera or SD card.
That should go battery fuse since the label says battery…which mean your dash cam is powered 24 hrs/day…you installed into accessory fuse, then when your car off, the dash cam is off as well
Great video but my forerunners rear window slides down not sure if yours does too but with the camera on the window that now prevents you from sliding that window down correct?
i found my n4 pro powers off after about 5 to 6 hours. it is hooked up to the battery with vantrues wire kit. 5 minute loop, parking mode with motion detection on. what good is a dashcam that shuts off in 5 or 6 hours of running in parking mode. Not sure how they can call this 24 hour protection.
Yes, I understand your point. I believe it shuts off to prevent your battery from dying. Not 24 hour protection but still better than no working camera at all after you kill the ignition if using cigarette lighter
i notice the hardwire goes to front mount and front camera port to back camera.. is it possible remove the front camera and to to plug the rear camera wire into the front mount and have the back camera operable in parking mode? or even with power will the back camera not work without the front camera?
So we have to look for an empty fuse port? Because I wouldn’t know what fuse to take out. Also, with the setup u did, will the camera continuously record or can we set it up to only record if it detects motion ? If it continuously records, what brand of mini SD card do u use and how long does it last before the memory is full? Lastly, I can see the u can’t tilt the camera up and down. Will it pan? If I get stopped by the police, I would want to point the inside camera more towards the driver side window. Thanks !
With my particular model, 2021 Toyota 4Runner, I was able to use a empty fuse port, so did not need to take any fuses out. The camera will continuously record even when the engine is turned off. That's the point of the hardwire kit, because it draws a small amount of charge from the vehicle's battery. I used the mini SD cards provided by Vantrue. They seem to work well. I believe they are just called Vantrue, and you can get them from their website. You don't have to worry about hitting memory capacity because as it gets full, the oldest files get overridden. The camera can slightly tilt up and down, but does not have full articulation along that plain. It can pan. You can always completely remove the camera from the window and just point it in whatever direction you want. Thanks for watching!
can the rear dash cam run in hardwire mode if I remove the front camera? i live in the city and worry that the front camera will make my car a target for break ins so would like to remove the front camera and just run the rear one as my back windows are tinted very dark and not likely not visible to thieves
Hi, is there any way to hardwire without parking mode, I mean, I want to power the camera with a fuse, but that works like if it were connected to the cigarette lighter
Possibly. Here's the link where you can research the other models. The particular one shown in this video comes with the rear cam www.vantrue.net/product/n4
@@jollytime0811 Thanks! Several of the other tubes made a point to disconnect battery to work in that area. Your experience sounds like does not cross air bag. Thanks again
The camera shuts off if the car battery hits a certain voltage to my understanding. This car has been in a Yaris of mine for over a year and never had a problem.
I bought Vantrue N4 after watching some of these videos (unfortunately). I need WIFI component and it's not available on this camera. These kind of videos are misleading the least. Perhaps they should describe what the dashcams are lacking and trigger the right decision.
Its your responsibility to find out whether it has wifi or not and research everything before you buy the item.. why you would even bring this up and say this is misleading,, he isn't your daddy as far as I am aware and even if he was you should be a big boy and take some responsibility. SMH

Happy to help you out!
I just got mine in the mail today &was quoted $210 to $300 for a professional to install...thank God for TH-cam 😂
Yeah, the install is not too bad. Just take your time
I received my package and will install tomorrow for my lexues rx350.
Thank you for great tutorial which was so useful.
Nice video! Thank you so very much.

Great video, but doesn’t the rear window for the 4Runner go down and won’t that knock the camera off?
Yeah I realized later. Didn't consider it during the installation. I don't roll the window down. Could be a deal breaker for some.
@@jollytime0811 got it! Great installation walk through! I’ll keep it bookmarked for when I install one in mine.

Hi. Miles McClain. Are you interested in reviewing the N4 Pro 4k dash cam?
Great video but my forerunners rear window slides down not sure if yours does too but with the camera on the window that now prevents you from sliding that window down correct?
Correct, I overlooked that when installing it
there is a GPS mount with a 3M tape type FYI
Great video and very informative, just Inwonder is the SD card came with the camera or you purchased it separately
It was purchased separately
Also I noticed my Vantrue hardwire kit had a yellow wire ACC in addition to a Red wire

I did not. Had no issues

Came with the dash cam kit
What fuse finder do you get? Tks

The footage is on the SD card within the dash cam

Where is wire in relation to Side airbag?
Wire just goes along the trim between plastic and lining. Depends on your make and model, but should not interfere with side airbag

Doesn't the rear window on a 4Runner still roll down though? Mine does. So obviously, I can't mount the rear camera on the glass.
I did mount it on the glass, did not consider it when installing. I don't use the window, but I plan to modify it.
