    Does a card that you control with "Once per turn" on it always refer to that it can only be used during your turn, and not your opponent's turn? Unless it's a (Trigger Effect) (Quick Effect) or (During either player's turn)etc? Or does "Once per turn" mean that it can be activated both during you and your opponent's turn?
    Also, how would Ghostrick-Go-Round work, could I only activate it during my Battle Phase, or during any player's Battle Phase? Thanks in advance

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once per turn means both players turns but once per copy, some triggers just only come up during certain players turns, for example normal summons.

    • @Blehandteh
      @Blehandteh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LegacyCrusaders Thanks, also what about the timing on generic, non triggered (once per turn) cards? Considering they aren't labeled as (Quick effect), could you activate say (Card Ejector) in response to your opponent trying to banish a specific card from their graveyard? Or could you only activate (Card Ejector) when there is nothing being resolved, so "in-between" their plays? So you would not be allowed to chain (Card Ejector) to anything during their turn, since it is not (Quick Effect) nor (Trigger Effect)?

    Hello mate. Can I ask? Does the true draco monster, spell, and traps are soft once per turn? meaning can I activate them once per copy? Thank you so much. Planning to build true draco deck

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can only use each effect of "True Draco Apocalypse" once per turn.
      This means each effect can be used once per turn, even between multiple copies and negated activations will not let you try to use them again. I think so of the spells and traps say that.
      The monsters do not say use or the monsters name or the word activate. They're all soft once per turn, each face up copy can use its effect once per turn, even duplicates

  • @leachimgod13
    @leachimgod13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t think I fully understood, how do you identify a soft once per turn? And what about with cards that have a “one of the following” or “Either of these effects once per turn” clauses?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  ปีที่แล้ว

      A soft once per turn says you can only do something once per turn but does not specify the cards name. Meaning each copy can do it once or if the card played leaves play and comes back then the new appearance can also be used once. Hard once means it specifies the effect with the card name Meaning if you have multiple cards with that name you can only use it with one of them. If a card says use once per turn even if it's negated it's once per turn has been used, if it says activated once per turn turn if specifically its activation is negated you can attempt to activate it again. One of the following sounds like your card has multiple options when you use it and regardless of what you pick it's been used once so if you use either you can't try to use the other. Idk the card you have in mind to be more specific then that. I thought the video covered all of these well on rewatch except for multiple effects at a time part as when I made this 6 years ago that was not a common occurrence.

    With the danger monster cards, is the first part of the affect to reveal, then summon itself and draw a card a soft once per turn??? And then the second effect where it’s dicarded instead and gains a seperate effect a hard once per turn??

    • @LegacyCrusaders

    If a card is once per turn does thar mean I can use the effect on my turn and when it's my opponents turn example naturia mole cricket to tribute for another naturia

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're different turns, so it can be used on each turn once, assuming it's legal to activate. Idk mole cricket, if it's a trigger and it can meet its trigger on both players turn, I don't see why not, if its a quick effect that can meet its conditions on both turns i don't see why not.

    So, I think I get “soft” once per turn, and “hard” once per turn, but what do you call “you can only activate/use (whichever’s easier to explain) “x” once per turn, and only once per turn”, and how is it different from a “hard” once per turn?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Use is still hard or soft once per turn. Use just means that if the activation is negated you can't step the effect again that turn cause it was used, but if it says activate and the activation is negated you can still play the card cause you never activated it. Used means attempt, activate means not negated.

    So what does it mean when a card says, "You can only use 1 of the following effects of 'card name' per turn, and only once that turn."? What does "Only once that turn" mean? Why would they put two 'hard once per turn' statements on a card?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure that's pretty clear, you can only use one effect of a card with that name for the turn so it's a hard once for all of its effects collectively, either of them would mean its been used once and you couldn't use another even if another copy.

      Sorry for all the questions. Im just trying to understand why Konami would have two of the same statement in a card text. They could've just stated the first "HOPT" and left it at that. Just wondering, can anyone tell me if the lair of darkness field spell can activate (on my opponent's turn) whenever I activate the trap card grinning grave virus (on my opponent's turn) in order to tribute one of their monsters for the grinning grave virus effect?? If so, can I, then, use the LOD field spell effect again on my turn that immediately follows??

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once per turn implies once during each players turn. This sometimes can only happen on your turn based on what the effect of the card is. Lairs tributing effect is a continuous effect so it really says if you would tribute a monster as cost to activate a card you can use their card. You can tribute a monster to pay a cost during either players turn so yeah it can be used on their turn, and there is nothing suggesting you then wouldnt be able to use it on your turn afterwards.

      If what your saying is true on "Once per turn implies once during each players turn." why would there be cards that be stating "Once per turn, during either player's turn". Because from i've been searching things up in reddit and forums, people have mixed opinions and the most common thing I find are either, that people use "Once per turn" for both player turns, or that "Once per turn" is only applicable to the player that plays the card. So for instance if i were to use a card like Gale the whirlwind(Yes it is quite old) it states that the effect can only be used "Once per turn" and had friends using it on both turns to the point that i wasn't able to play a deck properly. However cards like Constellar Pleiades, that states "Once per turn, during either players turn" is shown. Thus wanting to know what the real rule is behind Once per turn, just because there are cards now that state "Once per turn, during either players turn" If cards like these did not exist, i would assume that "Once per turn" cards would be applicable to both player turns

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gale the Whirlwind is Speed Spell 1, and Ignition effect which is why it only can be used during its owners main phase, if it were a quick effect Speed Spell 2 you could use it once per turn during either players turn during any phase just like Constellar Pleiades.

    Hey dude! Quick question.. So there was a duel in the Yugioh VRains series (Episode 10) where the protagonist (Playmaker/Yusaku) activated Encode Talker's effect on his opponent's battle phase.. (He did not activate this card's effect on the summon of it though) But on the card it says that Encode Talker's effect can only be activated "Once Per Turn" and I read this as "Once per YOUR turn) it sparked controversy when I would activate this in the same way in a real duel with friends.
    I was also wondering if you could legally activate a card's "once per turn" effect on your opponent's turn if you haven't already activated on your last turn?
    P.S I am aware that some cards say either "Once per turn" or "Once during either player's turn" this is just super confusing.

    • @LegacyCrusaders

      Once per turn doesn't mean once during your turn or your opponents turn. It means once during each and every turn regardless of whose turn it's used on or not. This is a trigger effect as it's an if effect and it triggers before damage calculation once per turn of both players when a monster this card points to battles during both turns regardless if it were used on the previous turn,

      Face Down banished cards aren't public knowledge so their stats can't be used to affect another card based on their stats, so they aren't considered to be dinosaurs while banished face down. Although Eater of Millions effect bases his stats on cards that are specifically banished face down, and Gren Maju De Eza specifically cares that they are banished, which banished face down cards are. So sometimes a card will be affected by banished face down cards but not based on stats/name or type of the card.

    Hey so I'm wondering what the difference is between (once per turn) and effects like (during either player's turn) ? Mainly me and my friend had an argument whether or not I could activate Gameciel on his turn to tribute his monster. I argued I could because It says once per turn, but he said that doesn't work because other cards don't let you unless it says either player's turn.
    I know that the gameciel play works on my turn because I've seen it played so many times but he doesn't believe me, how do I make a casual peon follow the actual ruling, or at least acknowledge that's the way the game is played LOL

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tributing an Opponents monster to summon a Kaiju is a non-activating effect, doesn't start a chain, that can only be used during your main phase, nothing on the card suggests it can be done during their turn, therefore you can't.
      Idk how to make people believe something, if its printed on the card they should take it as true, if its on the yugioh wiki it will also be true, there are no official ruling made anymore anywhere all card interactions are extrapolated from the original rulings of older cards which are correctly posted on the wiki.
      The summon of a Kaiju is a inherent summon (non-technical term) meaning doesn't start a chain and can be done during your main phase and you can tell that it is because it says where it is summoned from in (parenthesis) which is a new feature of problem solving card text, the way all cards are written to be interpreted consistently from card to card since a particular year, and his summon is an effect (technically) because he is a monster that can be normal summoned as well, the inherent summon of a monster that can only be summoned by the method listed on the card is not considered an effect so Infernoids summons are also inherent but are not technically effects as they can't be summoned in a different manner.
      His effect involving Kaiju counters can be used during wither players turn, because the card says so.
      A cards effect can be used on either players turn if it says, during either players turn which means its is a quick effect or it will just say, quick effect, making the card a speed spell 2 card meaning can be chained to cards that are speed spell 2 or lower.
      The other type of card that can be used on your opponents turn are trigger effects that can have it's trigger met on your opponents turn, i.e. when a monster is summoned, when this card is destroyed, and similar types of effects. Trigger effects are speed spell 1 and they are either if or when effects, if it's trigger effect is met it will activate at the start of a new chain as chain link 1 as this type of effect is speed spell 1 and cannot be chained to speed spell 2 or higher cards, if multiple trigger effects meet their trigger at the same time, i.e. a board of BA monsters is killed by dark hole, all the triggered cards will activate and form a chain where the effects will go in in this order, turn players mandatory effects, opponents mandatory effects, turn players optional effects, opponents optional effects, then the turn player has priority to respond with a speed spell 2 or higher card to the last card in that chain and so on as normal chain rules take a affect after all triggers have been activated.

      awesome thanks for the reply! I was just wondering since my Legendary Six Samurai Shien could activate his effects on either player's turn to negate a spell/trap. If I was running escalation of the monarchs, would that allow one to gameciel on either turn?

      The summon of Gameciel is not a regular tribute summon, if you use escalation to summon gameceil you need to tribute two monsters to summon it to your own field.

    What does 1 Less Tribute mean

      That means that, for example, if a monster required 2 tributes to be Tribute Summoned, you can deduct 1 of the required tributes needed to summon said monster. So, if Blue Eyes needs two tributes to be summoned, instead of needing two, now he only needs one to be summoned thanks to the specific card that grants/activates that effect. Look up the old school card "Cost Down" as an example.
