Hi Julie and Martin, Not long after your visit to the glass museum, they had an open weekend. I had the pleasure of playing with Black Country Brass Band there in the courtyard, and then later in the afternoon, we were invited to play inside the cone. What a pleasure and an experience that was. You and Martin created a lovely vlog on the museum. Thank you
Oh wow! I bet the acoustics were amazing inside the cone, what a great experience! Wish we had seen and heard that! What a great place it is, we were so lucky to get that mooring and have Martyn show us around the next day! Thank you for your lovely comment too, thanks Andrew! xx
Hi Nigel, we’d like to think that most boaters would do the same as us, but I expect some may leave it to CRT to sort, we try and do our bit. Thank you for your lovely comment Nigel! xx
That was a lot of locks!...keeping you fit. And the Red House Glass Cone Museum tour was just as interesting as the Black Country Museum vlog. Well done again! The Stourbridge arm looks lovely. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers.
Hi great video again, and don’t worry about hitting the bank now & again we all have to learn and making mistakes its part of learning know matter how old we are. and people shouldn’t judge you, most of us haven’t even been on a narrowboat. carry on being ur selfs ur a lovely couple
Hi Eileen, I just think I was a bit embarrassed and it was still fresh in my mind, I just need to build my confidence up, I’ll get there in the end. Thank you so much for your lovely comment Pam! Thank you! xx
Great bit of history on this one! Can't wait to see the TV show of Julie crashing the boat ! JUST KIDDING 🤣 Loved the views and the narration as usual. Cheers !
Thank You for taking us along to the Red House Glass Cone Museum! I live in Pennsylvania; in New York they have a Glass Museum it’s called Corning Museum of Glass. They still blow glass and you can too.
Oh wow, that would be a,axing to give that a try, it’s great to see the old traditions and the history along the canals, we were so lucky to get that mooring and a private impromptu tour of the cone! Thank you so much! xx
Thank you, so pleased you enjoyed this one, yes, we both love all the history on the canals, it’s great hearing how things were done all those years ago! Thank you! xx
Hello Julie and Martin, beautiful video as always. Crazy how much green weeds were in the water this week! That glass museum did look very interesting, amazing it had some glass destined for the Titanic! I have been called for jury duty next week so not looking forward to that. Have a wonderful weekend, love and best wishes
Hi Edward, glad you enjoyed it! Ooh, jury service, that could be interesting! We have both done it, be prepared there is a lot of waiting around, and I don’t think you’re allowed to have a mobile phone on whilst in the building, so take magazines or crossword puzzle books, otherwise it can get a tad boring 🤪 It’s an experience, hopefully you can try and enjoy it. Have a good weekend Edward! xx
Wow! This was such a great vlog. I thoroughly enjoyed the glass museum… I had to watch your video twice to take it all in! Anyway, you two are so fun to watch! I’m always entertained and often learn something 😊
Hi Julie and Martin. Fantastic vlog. The glass museum was so interesting, I would love to visit sometime in the future. Well done on the mooring right outside the door. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care and stay safe. 😊
It really is fantastic that they have preserved and maintained the glass cone, and to think there were many more, but this is the only one remaining! And although we couldn’t show it, the rest of the buildings were being used as studios and workshops for various artists and for school field trips etc, just brilliant! So glad you enjoyed it too Veronica! Thank you xx
The glass factory was fascinating and reminded me very much of when I visited the Waterford crystal factory in Ireland back in 1995. So much history and art to marvel at and admire. That duck weed in the lock looked to be as thick as American pudding! What a yucky nuisance.
Yes, that duckweed was so thick, it was hard going at times! We really loved the glass cone museum, and getting our own impromptu tour the next morning was amazing! Thank you Chris! xx
What great fun at the museum. Green was the color today. I watched this yesterday but posted this morning because I didn’t want to disturb you at 2:00 in the morning. I always look forward to Thursday because I get to spend some time with you & Martin on one of the canals. It is just so interesting to me. Nothing like it here. Thanks for a little taste of a different life style. Be safe. Will catch you next Thursday. Loving your content, contact & conversation. Cindy from Oklahoma. PS: the only way to get better is to keep trying. I bet you didn’t drive a care perfect when you started driving & I suspect it is much harder to steer a narrow boat then drive a car. As long as you don’t kill Martin then you are coming along on learning how to steer the boat. You will get it.
Hi Cindy, hope you’re well. I think I just need more practice, to get my confidence up, I’ll get the hang of it one day! Glad you enjoyed the glass cone museum, it was fascinating, we loved it! Thank you so much, see you next time! xx
That was a really interesting vlog. It’s been nice to see you doing the less used canals of Birmingham. 😊 I’d love to have a boat to cruise them. Julie, you narrate this videos so well, so clearly and really informative. Thank you 😊
Aww Dave this is such a lovely compliment, thank you! We have enjoyed cruising around the Black Country and there’s so much more to see and do, we will definitely be back! Thanks Dave! xx
Ah great vlog as always. That museum looked stunning, what a fab mooring and beautiful weather. All the best. Kerry, Colin and Alfie. NB Time to Pootle xx
Way to go Julie! You guys are already brave enough to step out of your comfort zone and live on a narrowboat so you can do anything when you set your mind to it. You appear to be more skillful at navigating Rhapsody, and you are doing well. Keep up the good work 😅 Still wondering how that dingy got on top of that shed 😂
Great blog guys was nice to all the history even better when he let you look round the chimney its a shame none off them work would be nice if they could get one to work and have a show couple times a year when you doing a cooking one again stay safe and warm guys
Hi Trevor, yes, that weed was so thick, it was tough going in places, but wasn’t that glass cone museum special, we loved it, and to get our own impromptu tour as well, was fantastic! Thanks Trevor! xx
I know!! I even edited some out! 🫣 I was certainly wowed lol 😂 Seriously though, it was an amazing place and the scenery was just beautiful. I didn’t realise just how much I say wow, I must try not to! Thank you Jean! xx
I know you were, but I did say to Martin, I need to stop saying it so much, but in the heat of the moment it seems to be involuntary lol. I was cringing when I edited the vide9, and I cut some of them out!! I just love the canals and the historic places so much, I’m very often wowed! 🤣🤣 Thanks Jean! xx
Hi guys, this was just what I needed to relax at the end of the day. The canal system is so well set up, could do with some maintenance in places but wow, such beautiful scenery. Wonderful you find people who are willing to lend a hand with the locks. Is that green algae seasonal or is it there all year round, I should think it would set like concrete in winter when it snows. Wow, that glass museum is so full of history, like Martin🤠 I just love places like that, witch is amazing because I used to hate history in school.😂😂 Stay safe guys see you in the next episode.👍🏻👍🏻❤❤
Hi Geoff, glad you liked this one, it was such a perfect mooring and so nice of Martyn to show us around the glass cone, we felt so lucky! The duck weed is seasonal and usually dies off in winter, although some spores sink to the bottom and resurface again in the Spring. It’s strange, like you, I hated history at school, Martin loved it, yet now, we both really love seeing and finding out all about the history of the canals! As it’s now our home, we find it fascinating just how different it was many years ago, and how much work and effort went into building the canals, locks, tunnels and bridges etc, and all the surrounding factories, it would be lovely to go back in time and see it in its heyday! Thanks Geoff! xx
Eloise and Bill here, and we have come to enjoy your vlog. We live in Birch Bay Washington, USA. You both inspire us to want to come to the UK and experience Narrowboating. We have so many questions we would love to ask, but find that watching your vlog, we learn a lot each episode. One big question, how does a person "buy you a cup of coffee"?
Hi Eloise & Bill, it’s lovely to have you onboard, all the way from the USA wow! So pleased you are enjoying our little videos, and thank you so much for the coffees! xx
My dad worked at one of the other glassworks just up the road from there (Webb Corbett) I have a cut glass lamp that he received as a wedding gift from them. Shade and base is cut glass ! Our friends have a narrowboat moored in Stourbridge and they said the duck weed is a massive issue in the area and they can’t seem to get rid of it. We did that stretch with them in the summer, in fact you just filmed their boat it’s the grey one on the left side of the two gray ones !! Haha, amazing, I’m really enjoying this trip with you guys xx
Oh wow, what a lovely keepsake you have with that glass lamp! Glad we managed to film your friend’s boat too 😃 Really pleased you are enjoying our videos Gail, thank you! xx

It was amazing, I would imagine it would have been very hot in there, but to think it was built in the 1700s is just fantastic! Such an interesting place! xx
Another epic vlog! One even more interesting than the other; you’re on a roll! Loved the glass museum, fantastic to see all this history kept alive, i love my glass. As i was Rhapsody in Green i hope it didn’t damage the prop. ❤
@ feel free, Julie! The special admission to the tower was brilliant! Over here we have the old factory of Val Saint Lambert and that is like history coming to life. I hope they will let artist glass blowers use the space. Xx
Hi Eric, ooh that would be great if they let them use the factory, keep the old traditions alive! I’m going to see how this video goes with the existing thumbnail for now, but might use the Rhapsody in Green for another vlog! Thanks Eric! xx
Hi Carol, it was an amazing place and we were so lucky that Martyn came along and showed us round! They had lots in the gift shop, although we don’t remember seeing any crystal, might be worth giving them a call to ask, as they may do. Sorry I couldn’t help more. Thanks Carol! xx
Julie, you are way too hard on yourself. Just think of how many times Martin knocked his flag down on those bridges, and lost the Stag at that!. Practice makes perfect. You CAN do it! And if they do show your "canal adjustment" on TV, then it just shows the normal, human side of an amazing lifestyle. Just remember, you already have so much more experience than all of us out here, watching and learning from your blog. Thank you for being such a relatable guide.
Hi Brent, I just need to get my confidence up, I’ll keep practicing 😃 thank you for your kind words, so glad you’re enjoying our videos, we try to keep things real, so it’s lovely to hear this feedback! Thank you! xx
Does the duckwood take over in autumn because canal water doesn't have a flow? The glassware is amazing. Such incredible beauty from what seemed to be such a primitive process. I found some vintage Stuart Crystal online. I'm thinking of getting my sister a piece for Christmas so thanks for the idea! I doubt she needs glasses but I might be able to find a nice bowl or vase. ❤
The duckweed is more prevalent in the Summer, it dies away in winter, but some spores drop to the bottom and resurface in Spring, hence it is really hard to eradicate! Ooh lovely, your sister will love that, what a great idea! Thank you Dorothy! xx
Hahaha, that made us chuckle 🤣🤭 We’re intrigued, what did you do lol? 😜 Ooh the Llangollen is lovely, bet you had a fab time! We did it two years ago and really want to go back, but we’re giving it another couple of years so it’s fresh again, and besides, there are so many other places we haven’t been yet! Thanks Andrew! xx
Hahaha 😂🤣 I nearly guessed it would be the horn lol, it really is soooo loud when you’re at the front! Hope Coral has recovered! Love the idea of a ‘Ratbag Club’ lol 😜 xx
Start work at 11 years old try that today !!!!! Very interesting vlog thank you Any ideas on how the green weed can be removed permanently otherwise it will just keep spreading all over the network. Ed 40 S of Vegas Stay safe you two
Hi Ed, yes can you imagine children of 11 working today, not a chance lol, lucky to get them doing their homework! The green duckweed dies back in winter, so CRT usually treat it in Spring and do try to keep on top of it, but I think this year with the huge chemical spill just north of Birmingham, I think it had a knock on effect with maintenance schedules etc. Hope you’re well Ed, thank you! xx
Hi Janice, our battery digital readout is built into the boat, so we haven’t needed to buy one. However, we understand that Victron sell one that is quite good. It might be worth asking in a chandlery, probably your best bet. Hope this helps! xx

Thank you Dorothy! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB My sister is a collector of nice things so I think she would love a vase. Those are beautiful with and without flowers.
Oh that would be lovely! xx
❤ love the vlog just got back from our 3 week cruise up the llangollen. Coral says ive joined the rat bag club with martin.
Thanks Andrew! xx
We had just done chirk aquaduct i could not see into tunnel so sounded the horn forgetting Coral was sitting next to the horn at the front oops
Hope you’re well Ed, thank you! xx
Hi you two can I ask have you got a digital battery checker if so can you advise us on which one to get thank you
Hi Janice, our battery digital readout is built into the boat, so we haven’t needed to buy one. However, we understand that Victron sell one that is quite good. It might be worth asking in a chandlery, probably your best bet. Hope this helps! xx
@JulieandMartinonRIB thank you for that
You’re welcome xx
did you manage to get any sleep, or was the noise over powering as every thing came back to life
😂😂😂🤣 Love it Harris! 😝 xx
