Thanks for your video. I have all brown leaves on my established red robin shrub. I cut off the dead leaves afterwards. Do you think new growth will come from the stump or could this be the end of the plant?
@@CM-ef6bs Hi. Thanks for the message. Is the plant totally brown or does it have some green leaves and buds visible? Is it newly planted or established as a plant? Has it been watered during the hotter dry months? If you use your nail to lightly scrap the surface of the stems, starting at the highest part and working down, to see if there is green beneath the bark. Where green is present then that part of the plant / stem is still alive. If you get to the base of the plant and there is no sign of green, with the stems also looking dry, then the plant is dead. Hope this helps you 🌻🪴
Hi. Thanks for the message. I would suspect that the yellowing of the leaves is due to lack of fertiliser available to the plants. Watering every day would be making things worse as the water is diluting down any nutrients that would be present in the soil. Yellowing leaves in Photinia can be a result of lack of nitrogen, magnesium or the soil not being acidic enough. I would suggest applying a liquid feed that is marked up as Ericaceous (suitable for Rhododendron and Camellia) as that will act quickly. You can also apply a slow release fertiliser that will break down more gradually with the daily watering. Maybe adjust the amount of water that is going into your plants too. Watering in the morning is always best. Hope this helps you 🌸🌼
Excellent advice!
