Totally👍, but also he himself is extremely lucky to have his Mum who, I'm sure, noticed and then helped him develop his amazing talent👏 Sadly, I know many parents actively discourage their kids from pursuing their potential music career thinking they're caring for their kids' future, coaxing them instead into 'safe' professions.

@@robertskolimowski7049 How true! People do not change... Just recently I read the autobiography of Kraftwerk's Karl Bartos who totally had to break with his parents because his father wanted to push him into a "safe" job. I am glad he followed his talent, and, yes, I am also glad that Jacob had the opportunity to develop his amazing, stunning, outstanding, and absolutely unique talent!

I was fortunate enough to see Jacob perform at the Quincy Jones' 90th Birthday Celebration at the Hollywood Bowl last summer. He performed "Human Nature" with an orchestra, conducted by his mother. I'll never forget that performance. It was exquisite.

The man isn't anything below the world's greatest musician of our time. And he's just 29. Saw him in Munich last year, will see him in Düsseldorf this November. You do not have to be a musician to listen to him (though it definitely helps with the inside jokes). You just have to have an open heart and open ears willing to listen to the totally unexpectable.

Genuinely happy to see that very talented young man being recognized for producing real music and actually playing live instruments. I’m so sick of frauds like Kanye West, who cannot play any instrument, not even a hand drum, because he has no rhythm, or sing a single note on key because he’s completely tone deaf, winning 24 Grammys, and being called “the greatest musician in the world”, when he doesn’t even write his own verses, but has a team of writers. It’s artists like Jacob Collier, who should be getting the opportunity to fill the air with original music. I play 15 instruments, write and sing all my own tracks, and produce all my own music, beats, and videos, but it seems only those who sell their souls have the chance to be heard. That needs to change.

Even by ordinary standards, he's a notably humble and respectful person. Given the almost unprecedented level of the musical and expressive talent he possesses, the fact that he is so well able to articulate a clear vision of the best of humanity and to describe and relate to the kinds of frailties and fears that inhabit all of us, and to instil hope and joy through his music, is almost otherworldly. I assure you, you've not got him accurately pinned with your early impression. Persevere. :-)
