The jackal 2 replacing the famous ‘Pink Panthers’ used by the Special Air Service, the ‘Pinkies’ seeing action during first Gulf War. The Jackal 2 performs 10-times better than the Land Rover Defender, The Jackal Mobile Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit is designed to traverse rough terrain at speed, negating the need to use highways and reducing the risk from roadside bombs. The Jackal 2 can be fitted with the BOWMAN communications equipment.
The Coyote vehicle is well suited to the desert terrain. It has a payload capacity of up to 3000kg. It accommodates driver, three passengers and has a flexible loading area at the rear. This patrol vehicle can also tow light trailers or artillery pieces.
It is an open vehicle, where emphasis is stressed on firepower and visibility rather than protection. The Coyote has provision for two crew-served weapons. It has a gun-ring and can be armed with various combinations of 12.7 mm heavy machine guns, 7.62 mm machine guns, and 40 mm automatic grenade launchers.

What your calling the Jackel 2 is actually the Jackel 1! Jacker 2 had the spare wheel moved to inside back left doot and turret ring was heightened after a 50cal round went through the front of the cab near missing the driver!
The coyote is also a jackel 2 with a new add on package that can be bolted to the diff in the rear axel and longer bed installed it's a 2hr process to convert any Jackel 2 in to the coyote (TSV)

It reminds me of the US WW II M8 Greyhound but without armor protection and a turret with a 37 mm gun.

It does have Armor protection. The armour is module and can be removed it's the replacement for the old armoured land rover. It does a very similar job that the old greyhound did. and there's enough room in the back for a load of lads with javelins

More like the land rovers used by the LRDG in N.A. In WWII, for long range light recce, it’s not meant to be seen + can be used in hit and run attacks in a low intestity / counter insurgent role often used by S.F. groups.
The Greyhound was a scout vehicle used by the army’s main armoured brigade to be used to scout for the enemy’s armoured brigades or armoured patrols and needed the armour and fire power to get it self out of trouble if bumped.

It has all the firepower needed for a reconnaissance vehicle. Not every vehicle the army users needs 120mm anti tank gun

No doubt all that shite firepower would either bounce off your pigeon chest or off your keyboard that you fight from.

I mean these guys will be fighting against 14.5mm with rpgs at the minimum and some will face 23mm technicals. Do u get my point of view?

This is a great recon vehicle when in desert conditions fighting insurgents I’m sure. But how is this going to work fighting a near-peer conflict in winter when the enemy has artillery?!?

    • @timwingham8952
      @timwingham8952 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I thought the same. This vehicle looks theatre specific to desert conditions. Crewing the vehicle continuously against a a Russian adversary in rain sleet and snow could seriously and rapidly erode crew resilience.

@@GI.Jared1984 Now look at the Samil 100, there are posts holding up the side panels, each post is a mounting place for heavy machine guns, the 50 cals first, another with the co-driver in front, you can carry lots of Stingers in the back, and even mount ZU-23 as well as mortars, so that when the jackal-BRDM shows up, it is blown to pieces! @@joaosabino2909 there's nothing stopping you mountain javelins on the jackal. It's not meant for engaging the enemy it is a reconnaissance vehicle. The weapons that are mounted on it are for defence. And it is a British made vehicle why would the UK buy South African.

None of those can be rapidly deployed by air, they're either too heavy or too tall.
None are dedicated reconnaissance vehicles that can both work in rural and urban environments, anywhere in the world.
They might have been fit for purpose in South Africa, but for what the British army need they're not what they want.

@@jarraandyftmyoud have to be an idiot to get on that thing and do a reconnaissance mission.. its probably loud as shit, slow as shit and for not being a fighting vehicle, its got more firepower than a humvee, so how much fighting are you really planning on doing?.. Give me a Land Rover or a Jeep and ill get in and out of there looking like a civilian and not weighing enough to set off anti tank mines and at a fraction the cost.. Way quicker than this stupid turd.. This just looks like corruption
