8:57 Quick mention here... There is a reason that there is no Thriller in this game that AVGN didn't know. Apparently it had to do with Thriller having a co-credit with another person as well as Jackson, and royalties couldn't be secured so it was removed in most copies of the game.
Yes. I asked the game's audio designer and he confirmed that was the reason. Thriller was written by Rod Temperton for the band Heatwave, and he offered Thriller to them (originally called Starlight IIRC), but the band turned it down.
I think that has to do with Michael Jackson's music and the Sega Genesis utilizing FM synthesizers, so it actually translates much better than it would, say on the Super Nintendo.
If I'm not mistaken, there does exist a Master System version of this game. It's gameplay is similar to its 16-bit counterpart; just with 8-bit graphics. And I also believe that some of the level layouts are different too.
I had the game on the Sega Master System 2 and it was better then the Mega drive version which was unique that a master system game was better. I played this alot in the 90's.
@Trevor White Except they admitted that they falsely accused him for monetary gain. So it'd be nice to stop believing in those lies and stop tarnishing the reputation of a innocent man. (Even if he is dead.)

This happens to be the only AVGN Episode where he doesn't use the F word.
The Balance Of The Cosmos Must Be Restored!
The F Word Must Be Said
The Kingdom Of Nerddom Depends On It!!
He doesn’t drop the F bomb in the Wayne’s World review either.
What about Swordquest?
@@andykishore nope he doesn’t says it either

"I didn't know there was a Michael Jackson game" - there's also a pretty good rhythm game 'Michael Jackson: The Experience' for PSVita and Wii.
FYI, this came out just a few months before Michael passed away.
yeah, this game is pretty decent, in fact, the only reason to play it is because the Michael Jackson's music sounds AWESOME at 16 bits
Yeah, another reason isChanging from michael jackson to mecha jackson, the king of robo-pop, 😆

I'm still in shock they made a Michael Jackson's Moonwalker game. 😲
I have a copy and it has the thriller song, special move only. Otha game was 37 dollars plus tax but I’m glad I got it.
This video game with saving the kids makes me feel uncomfortable, is that weird?
Yes.
