Someone may have already said this, but there's another way to select a preset sound, if you know its number. Hit the Numeric button, enter the number on the 0-9 buttons, then press Enter. Thanks for this great intro video. I'm still in grade school on the Juno DS.

I have watched your videos re the Juno DS 61.
I have had mine a week now and its a big learn kerb for me. When I hear all these sounds U get excited.
Thank you for taking the time out to teach us what you know. You have been very clear, confident and concise.
You know what you are doing.
Can you please tell us ( me ) how to use the Assign buttons on the left Keyboard section?.
I think you should rewrite the crappy manual Roland supply which is quite useless.
You do a far better job.
    Well done!

Thanks , I’ve been trying to decide on the DS or RD-88, I did find the DS easy to navigate almost out of the box except for having to write a patch before saving to a favorite! The bigger size of the DS compare to the RD makes gigging a little more tricky I find , takes up more real estate on small stages and slightly heavier. I’ll check out some of your other videos if I go with the DS. 😊

In my opinion, the keys feel very good. They feel very high quality, and about the closest thing you can get to feeling like a piano. The action is heavy. If you compare it to other weighted keyboards it is definitely on the heavier side of it.

    • @Exalter
      @Exalter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

When I bought the Juno DS, the headphones I had, were the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I have had them for 3 years and they have worked flawlessly! About two years ago I got the Peavey KB 1 keyboard amplifier. I have liked it, and would recommend it. Before I got that amp I had a 30 dollar amp. I would recommend spending the money on a nicer amp because it will sound much better. As far as monitor pairs, I have not owned any (yet) so I don't have any good recommendations.

Can you record in your DAW a Guitar by connecting the Speakers Output of the Guitar amp to the Line-input of the Juno DS? Does that work? Or is that input not listed in your DAW software, just meant for playback? I am considering it over the FA-06 but that's important to me.

    • @Exalter

The mic input is not listed in your DAW. However, you can record anything you want into the mic input through the Juno DS. I hope that made sense...

Thanks for the video, I just got one today, after my juno G broke down for the second and last time , they wanted $569 to replace the main board, I don't like the new display, takes forever to navigate, the old one was much easier to scroll through the lists, until it failed and had to be replaced, you are right, the drum sounds are awful, much worse than the G, also I noticed that some of the same patches still exist from the G, but are not as good, but there are some nice new ones, does anyone know if you can get the old G patches to possibly download to the DS, so, my first impression is not a real good one, sorry to say, at least they ditched the battery box.

Exalter hi, I just checked with my local retailer (I'm in Australia) and he has one in stock. Apparently it's a reasonably new product but it's definitely available. My other concern is that this is getting to be a pretty old machine now, as is the Yamaha MX and the Korg Krome which are the other units I'm looking at. They go back 7 or 8 years! Do they still hold up in 2020 in your opinion? I'm keeping my eye on NAMM reports for an update as surely they will be replaced soon :/

Exalter well, I took a chance and bought it yesterday :) I tried a few different ones and almost bought the Korg Kross but I wasn't sure that I could live with the touch screen in a live setting. Also, I liked the transpose button being easily accessible cause we play a lot of songs in E flat and the ability to mix sounds with the faders in real time is cool too. That seemed a lot harder to do on the Korg. So far, I'm having a great time with it but I'm trying to nail the organ sound in Whiter Shade of Pale and I'm struggling. Can you offer any advice?

I've also owned a Juno DS for some time now (sometimes find trouble getting the time to play it). The only thing I feel maybe isnt up to par with what I imagined when owning a hardware synthesizer is the sound / patch editing functions on board the unit.
So you can edit things like cutoff, resonance.. ADSR, all the normal things youd imagine in a synth, add FX to your sounds.. reverb, EQ, but it's not possible to edit the base waveforms and re-amp / repatch anything like LFOs, etc.? This I suppose you'd get out of a more traditional synth I suppose but I might just still be novice in my experience so far on the Juno. Can you comment to how deep the sound design goes in itself on this synth?

@@Exalter I'm glad that you stated to comment for any corrections. :) I've decided to buy a DS 61, what can you tell about the keybeds difference between 61 and 88? I know the 88 keybeds are made for piano more, while I intend to play other stuff. How are you satisfied with the velocity and hand feel from the DS so far? Thank you. Also are there any cons you've encountered? Regards.

@@avittas One of the cons about the weighted keys is they are very weighted. The reason why I got the weighted keys was because I needed a keyboard to practice piano on due to not having a piano at the moment. It serves that purpose and I have been happy with the feel, but I think if I was to get a keyboard to just to play live I would get synth action keybed. The 61 version is synth action which means it isn't weighted at all which I prefer when playing organs or synths. I hope this helps!

@@Exalter Definitely it helps. Thank you again, brother. Just one last question is about the sound/voice quality compared to the video presentations on TH-cam. Is it the same as in those videos or? Best regards!

@@avittas I don't completely understand your question, but I will do my best to answer. The sound quality is about the same on TH-cam as in real life, although in some demos they only pick the best sounds...

I don't know? It could be a defect with your keyboard. You might want to contact Roland if it is.

GREETINGS....... As good as Roland Corporation is.....They are NOT allowing buyers to purchase tasty drums sounds for their Roland units, if they (Roland) isn't doing it for their costumers. Hmmm, powerful drum sets and bass sounds are key to good music production. Please help your buying musicians....Roland.
