    For those who watch this video, I have ran straight E85 through my L59 with the factory tune and it didn’t explode or throw a rod.

    • @Greymancustomz
      @Greymancustomz  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’m not using a stock computer in this video. You would have to build a tune to run E85 since this setup is unable to determine if I am running E85 or another other specific octane. The OEM computer has a sensor to know how much ethinyl is running through the system and changes the tune to accommodate that.

      Exactly what I did but I ended up granading that engine lol. It dropped a valve on the way to work one day.
      It was plenty of engine for my 56 Chevy truck though. Loved it while it ran.

    My new to me, '04, Z71, Burb, 5.3 with 187K will probably need replacing. My mechanic replaced the oil tube O-Ring and all the lifters rattle like crazy. He says it's a flex fuel, L59, #Z and says his knows of a junk yard that may have two 5.3 as good runners which I would probably rebuild first. Love my Burb but just can't trust it far from home rattling like that. Any Sugestions? Thanks for the video.

    • @Greymancustomz
      @Greymancustomz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t have to use a L59 to replace it since the engine is the same as the LM7, the fuel injectors are the difference and the fuel system from the factory truck. If your not running E85 the fuel system doesn’t matter, but the flex fuel injectors are bigger so that’s good for tuning. I’d replace it with a good running cathedral port 5.3.

    At 0:41 the bog down to almost the engine dying is normal for these engines correct? Isn’t that the computer re-adjusting the air/fuel ratio after a high rev? Because my Flex Fuel L59 does this and mine is on the factory GM tune.

    • @Greymancustomz
      @Greymancustomz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won’t start learning till the engine temp hits 160 degrees. The fuel map may have been set up from the prior engine that was on the stand also

    • @Peculiarsafe83
      @Peculiarsafe83 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GreymancustomzI have one fully functional and running in the vehicle itself and it does the same thing at 0:41 when it’s running and everything is working when the vehicle is running. Maybe something was missed in the tune when my L59 was swapped into the vehicle.

    Your missing the MAF sensor on the intake is probably why your running lean and not running crisper throttle there

    • @Greymancustomz
      @Greymancustomz  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The terminator x max by Holley doesn’t use a MAF. It’s running lean because the computer is learning the engine. It’s a run stand so I don’t run the engines more then a hour.
