Is that a stock bottom end?
Yes
you think it should be possible but pain in butt to do on a old small block chevy 350
Should be just as easy.
😂😂😂😂
?
switched out the cam? What heads
Sloppy stage 2 cam with 862 heads
@@Greymancustomz Sweet. Thanks for letting me know
Where did you get the engine stand?
Amazon
How would you recommend cleaning it? My LQ4 is filthy. All accessories still on
Steam cleaner for sure. If you don’t have one then spray simple green on it and rinse it off. Use a plastic brush to clean the hard to clean spots. Should look real good after
@@Greymancustomz Forsure. Any risk of messing up any connections? Not connected to a battery but hopefully nothing gets into where it shouldnt
@@Millie.1965 I remove the intake so the only sensors that’s are left is cam, crank, and oil pressure. You can put dialectic grease in them or just don’t spray directly. You can clean them with connector cleaner after also. But you don’t want water staying in them.
@@Greymancustomz Good points Ill clean mine up
use cheap oven cleaner from dollar general. works almost twice as good as purple power or simple green
Nice
Thank you
Big mans toys for when u have a tiny pee pee 😂
What lift cam is that and what springs are you running
Look up BTR truck Norris cam, I also used BTR valve springs.
Listen to those horses run free
I love how it sounds. I still have the cam and I’m looking to build an engine for one of my personal trucks with it.
Do you milled those down or they are stock?
@@jarianbrass5021stock
Been a while, any updates?
Project is on the back burner at the moment. Had something personal come up so I don’t have the $$ for the build. Hoping to get back on it in January
I never liked the LT1. But I love the LS.
I’m right there with ya. I come from the basic 350, and I loved those till I started messing with the LS stuff. I prefer the 4th gen LS over the 3rd gen but that’s because I want to run a 6L80 in my rigs.
That thing sounds amazing , definitely my next bump stick
I would recommend it for sure.
Once you do this what's the tune setting on the msd box you set it to 6014 box? And any tuning on the carb or no?
MSD box is set to truck. Since I’m only running the engine to test vitals, I didn’t adjust anything but idle on the carb.
Really like your videos, question wanting to do this 6.0 with carb. Now do you have to do any tuning? Once you get the 6014 msd box ask hooked up? I'm just gonna do headers and cam
I haven’t ran this setup in a vehicle yet. So I haven’t done anything to it as far as tuning goes. Pulled it all out of the box, hooked it up and ran it.
@@Greymancustomz oh OK gotcha., well that's good to know. Thanks man I will keep watching
@@tommyjm83 I appreciate the support
@@Greymancustomz your welcome
keep it up bro
I’m excited to get this truck done. Waiting on some funds right now but progress will be made soon.
You are using a 6.2 whole rotating assembly?
Nope. 6.2 rods and pistons, LQ4 stock crank
Thanks for the info I'm putting together a carburetor ls motor soon
I can see the appeal to it for sure, if I didn’t run a 4L80 on my builds, I’d run at least one carbureted LS. But I don’t want to have a separate controller for the transmission. In my case I prefer to run factory computer and EFI so I can tune it all through the ECU
Good stuff. I'm wanting to have me a few engines on standby lookin into gettin into some boosted single cabs w 5.3s....
I’d love to boost my c10 that’s getting a 5.3 swap
Thanks... now we need the rears...
That car is gone so I won’t be able to make that video
How much power would something like this make ?
Haven’t dyno tested it yet. I’m going to build another one since I sold this one
@@Greymancustomz ok cool let us know when you do because if this makes good enough power then no need for ls3 then
For the budget I think this is going to be a good route. Maybe add on some ls3 heads.
@@Greymancustomz very well might look for a 6.0 then thank you for the idea
500 some change
Yo that’s ours !!
That’s a bad ass truck. Love it
That's not flywheel.
Flexplate
Is that cam pretty good ? I’m build the same combo with supercharger
It sounds really good but I haven’t ran it in a vehicle yet.
How much ?
And miles
2500
142k
2500 ?
@@aftermathwhite4955yes
Why do u need MSD ?
For the ignition since I’m running a carburetor. Otherwise the ECM would control it and the fuel injection at the same time.
Genuinely wish someone would record the actual process man.. I’m strugfling
Ah it’s easy. Just look up what your factory colors are and match it to the ribbon. The ribbon is the same colors as trailer wiring. White is ground, brown is running lights, yellow is left and green is right. I just used the colors I had available so I had to make it work but the stock truck harness was good up to the end of the frame rail where the connector is, I just modified past that point I have another truck to wire so I may make a video on that
Oh my ,you see the pile of removal studs man that is lucky sevens. Ive had brake half way in
I haven’t had one snap again after heating. They normally come out easy once I get a good weld on them
Gotta have my driver side done next week, and I already know that the bolt closest to the firewall is broke. I’m hoping for the best for the mechanics. I offered my help to do whatever but the insurance won’t let me go in the shop, let alone work
That’s rough to do it in the trudk
Nice work. I’ve found it easier to weld on a large fender washer first. Then the nut after.
Good tip, I’ll try that next time
Run very great very much classic Bad to the 🍗 American muscle 💪💪💪💪💪
Thanks, this is the engine I’m going to be upgrading. Stage 2 cam
Gunna keep driving my '08 Tahoe 5.3 till the wheels fall off or it explodes. 142,000 miles on it.
They have been known to go 400-500k miles
How much its the harness dor this set
I think I paid 2200-2300 for mine with all the ad ons
At first I thought you took it to the scrap yard for $$$$.
Nope. Just the start of the build.
For chan
What
I’ll give u 20 bucks
Lol
How can u tell from a lq4 n lq9 is there markings on blocks
Dished pistons in the LQ4 and flat top pistons in the LQ9
Is it tuned whigga?
Those are actually good little motors i bought one in 08 a 07 model that's year change , mine is the newer style truck with a stage 3 4.8 , i got 343,000 miles on this 1/2 ton 4x4 , and i finally did my first major repair , the transmission wouldnt shift , so i rebuilt it , still going strong now ..all stock I got 6 others that are newer , stage 4 , all stacked out back bad lifters in every one ..
Nice, I think they are good engines as well. Not sure why people bash them.
You wanta test it in my truck 😂😂
It’s sold
Best I can do is 20$
6.0 + 243/799 = about 3% power increase. 317, 799's flow the same. But 317's have crap Combustion chambers, Even if you mill them to the same chamber size, it's no Boyno. But you can make 650 whp on 11lbs with 93 pump gas with those 317's Personally I feel it is a sin to not have a truck Norris cam at a minimum, and more Beneficial and cheaper then just 799/243 Even if you have a set laying around. The Head gaskets New exhaust gaskets Whatever else along the? Way is going to copse you more than the cam. Just my opinion.
I ended up putting a truck Norris cam in it, but I sold the engine block to someone to and I’m now building it into a 6.2L with LS3 heads and a 569 comp cams cam. Should be a beast now.
@@GreymancustomzMy ( Guess ) about 60-80 more) my problem is getting the hot rod" out of my System. My Project is more Suited for Torke, Lifted big tires. And I want to be able to tow car trailer without Detonation. But it is so easy to make big power, Before you know it everything's forged cnc stage 4 and turbo. And if you don't have a car to put it in, you end up Selling it hopefully getting back what you spent at the Machine shop. That's what getting me in trouble. I found a hell of a deal on a 6.0 punch to 6.2 all Forged and new just like that. I have to tie a string around my finger to remind me that's not what I need for my truck 🤒
@@kevinwest3689for my personal trucks I just put a cam in and call it good. I’m not trying to make big power for my own rig. I have a stock L96 6.0 in my 2wd 56 Chevy truck right now and I have a cam and torque converter for it that I haven’t found the time to put in.

As cool as that may be, i’ve never seen master engine rebuilders including myself with music & videos, or any type of distractions when building. Too many components and too many things you have to watch out for.
You sir seem to have it figured out lol 😂
This is what I enjoy most.
