Joey, I just happened to think about this. You're actually recycling your water. By draining water into your yard, it is going back down to your well system. Being purified through the earth. Pretty cool!

Joey. If you put a ball valve somewhere on the drain pipe, you can just close the valve every time you move from tank to tank, then open it again. Water will get sucked out and you won’t have to go lift the hose anymore.

I have 3 large tanks in my office, a 300 gallon, a 150 gallon and an 80 gallon. By far the the thing that takes the longest when doing maintenance is waiting for the water to drain. It takes me about 2 hours to do 30% on all 3 tanks. I really like that large siphon method to help speed things up over using a pump. It often seems like the best ideas are obvious in retrospect and Im kicking myself for not using bigger hoses in the past.

I use a garden hose put through a hose bender for a washing machine drain with twist screw clamps to adjust the hose length to drain my tanks. So I can do small and large tanks with it. I have it linked to a tap in my laundry with valves so I just flick a switch to change between draining and filling. Because I can adjust the host length in the tank by how much is coming out of the washing machine hose bender I can set it to drain and walk away and it will only drain to the end of the hose in the tank.
