great honest presentation, thank you
Thanks for watching 1BCamden!
Very nice work! Where do you get your ties? Do you buy them or make them yourselves?
I use ties from Fast Tracks/Scale Lumber Company, but there are others out there as well. I try to avoid the low-profile ties as they tend to break more often when inserting spikes. At least that's been my experience. Many modelers use contact cement, so that's another option.
You are going to do that 10 track yard like this? This is why they sell Atlas track 75 feet in a box, you could use 3 or 4 boxes.... my layout took 10 boxes, and even a yard at a time, it wasn't easy. Years- decades ago- I remember seeing ads for a staple gun that drove HO spikes- I suppose they- or the re loads- don't exist any more... you guys got more patience than I do!!
That staple gun is the now out of production "kadee spiker". Heard it works well. But GOOD LUCK finding one.
I don't know if those Kadee spike holding pliers are still available.

@@farmerdave7965 Micro Mark sells spike insertion and removal pilers.
What is that straight edge?
You can get different length edges like that from Lowes.. Home Depot. I saw varying length edges for real cheap at Harbor Freight.
