As an 11yrold I would sneak into our boarding school chapel and play this on the 2000 pipe organ which had horizontal spun brass trumpets from Spain.
A delicious racket that would get the chaplain running in and telling me to tone the volume down.

Of all the trumpet tunes I have heard this one is still my favorite! I enjoyed all the extra ornamentation in this performance. I don't think all of it worked 100%, but it is so wonderful to hear someone really having fun with this joyful work! BRAVO!

It is so sad that this type of music like old precious hymns are not played so ofted as one would like to hear. The modern type of music is not really music anymore, just load sounds with no hamony. Lets keep this quality of music going!!!

Finally found out you're Monty Bennett. Keep your musical ministry going. \It's very, very important. It's often more emotive than a weak sermon. You don't need me to tell you that. I'm our church organist and choir mistress and we really try to get the Christian message across, as indeed we should. You're a much better organist than I (not difficult|) but the Holy Spirit assists me. Praise the Lord!

Beautiful music enhances all type of services - joyous and sad occasions or weekly services. Great job Motty Bennett.

From my exsperiance (forgive my spelling) some churches have two consoles for these reasons: location, the smaller console is closer to the pews. BRAVO! For the playing, the organ ... Shame though the video recorder used was clamping the volume variations of that great sounding organ. When the various expression pedals were pressed in or out, only the timbre of the sound changes and volume is pegged at a clipped level. That playing and organ is worthy of better recording quality sad to say. (Next time the video camcorder should be set in a manual audio recording mode if possible) :)

To me, the Trumpet solo sounds horribly electronic, but seeing the images, I have to suppose it's real pipework. Must be the voicing!
A very satisfying performance. Thanks for the upload.

The bright and "tinny" characteristic of the en chamade trumpets is a Ruffatti trademark sound (closest comparison I can think of is the Coral Ridge organ). If you hear it used in different pieces/occasions I think you'll come to appreciate its purity! :)

Louie D'Amico Maybe you are right. (And, then again, I'm listening, only, to the speakers of my computer.!)

+Louie D'Amico the chamade is real. I think it is the computer speakers because in the room it does not come across thin at all.

What is the need to add digital additions to an already large pipe organ. So silly in my honest opinion. Sound effects…

It was supposed to be all pipe but the building design changed and the chambers were greatly reduced in size.

Sorry, the organ is not impressive. It sounds like a pipe organ with some digital additions. Yuck. (Nice performance by the organist though.)

It's interesting that you say that, because there is no digital used in that recording. The digital stops are mainly soft celestes, percussions, and a few orchestral solo stops.

Well, I bungled it there, didn't I? No offense. [I'm probably just too nostalgic for the sounds of the magnificent Romantic organs of the 19th century and the acoustics of the cathedrals that house them.] Again, nice performance.
