    Tri-regulation was done in JP. It looks like they wanted to try it out in the West.
    I think the big reason tri-reg was so polarizing here in the west is because it took the place of the BSF tourneys that we’re used to. It’s not that people have a problem with tri-reg, it’s that people have a problem with losing Premium and V BSF.
    I enjoyed preparing for Tri-reg personally. I didn’t feel like it was 3 people on their own. I liked the theory behind team structure that we came up with.
    For example: we knew the person we chose V-Premium was likely going to be someone very experienced with the format. None of us had that kind of experience, so our friend chose to play Astral Poets. Astral Poets can compensate for a skill difference by getting a little lucky.
    Another example, I personally felt like Bastion was a more consistent deck than Youthberk and had a wider matchup spread (better into random decks in other words, which are really common at regional tourneys). However, with Tri-Reg, I figured there would be a higher chance that people bring a meta deck since there’s only 1 Standard deck to choose from instead of 3. I thought Youthberk had a better matchup into the meta decks, so I chose Bastion for Standard BSF and Youthberk for Tri-Reg.
    Reason I explain all of this is because I didn’t at all think there was no point to doing tri-reg as a team format. It being a team format with all 3 formats led to some interesting theory with our deck choices.

      Oh wow thank you for sharing your feedback! I was not aware that they did this in Japan. Perhaps it was just a coincidence on timing with Shadowverse then.
      That's actually a pretty cool perspective to view for tournament preparation. Yeah teams have that 3 deck team form concept, but with Tri it can eliminate that since each a different format. Thanks again for your detailed response.

    What I would like is for Bushiroad to bring events like Bushiroad Expo over to the West over, though as of this post, Bushiroad Expo will be at Anime Expo in July. Regardless, having even a small Bushiroad-focused convention would do wonders in my opinion. My friends and I would love it if they bring Chara Expo back since it had a lot of fun side events along with tournaments for all their card games.

    Coming from yugioh, where power levels are ridiculous and the events take the whole day. I've been loving VG regionals. They are fun, and entry is free, and rounds are shorter.
    If anything, I guess making the side events a bit more exciting/involved would be cool. More packs and prizes if anything.

    I think the biggest issue with Tri-Regulation is that Bushiroad has spent 3 years with individual format sturctures. This means friendship groups, especially for teams have been self organising with choosing 2/3 formats to play due to BSF & BCS structure.
    It's also worth keeping in mind that for these 3 years the player's location forced players into specific formats. Personally at the beginning of OD, I wanted to be a D & V player but as I was in the UK we always had D & V on the same day. So I had to choose 1 to drop as UK's BSF and BCS forced me into being a premium payer.
    Had we had Tri-Regulation from the beginning of D, teams would have been better suited for this. Groups would have more people who were able to play all formats. Players could've fostered their own favourite formats with no location based issues (at least for teams).
    IMO Tri-Regulation fails (in terms of the playerbase opinions) in the west largely because it's missed it's optimal release date which was back in 2021 when D came out and we should just stick with the old system. If Bushiroad really needed 2 VG formats to accomodate Shadowverse, sunsetting V makes a lot more sense than Tri-Regulation given how Bushiroad has encouraged friendship groups to play.
    BCS will be interesting IMO as Tri-Regulation doesn't work in singles so either 1 format will have to give or BCS will have 3 VG formats with Weiss and Shadowverse anyway.

      @CommanderJaime  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your detailed response! Yeah I saw recently that Tri has been implemented before. Perhaps it is timing and coincidence that it's having mixed feelings.
      Kind of interesting to see that it forced players like yourself into another format. And then 3 years later seeing more regions go through a similar transition.
      Thanks again for your feedback!

    The reasoning behind no entry fee is because of Bushiroad's philosophy from what I have heard. I don't remember where the clip is but I know that Bushi's philosophy is holding them back from monetizing the event despite how sizable the community is. It is why both Weiss Schwarz (WS) and Vanguard (CFV) are identical in prize structure. Whether you disagree or agree with the philosophy is up for you to interpret, but I am not here to argue in favor of or against this; I just want to let you know what is going on with the scene.
    Because Cygames is technically the IP holder (Bushi is just an official licensed company to use the IP, similar to how WS works), their philosophy may or may not line up with the rest of Bushi's events. This also explains the prizing structure from Shadowverse Evolve (SVE) as this philosophical approach is not from the ground-up in terms of how Bushi operates. In addition, SVE technically had a soft-open with its own circuit, which could partially help explain the prizing difference too. As for the prizing structure within Bushiroad SpringFest (BSF), since this has been a holdover between the independent circuit and the BSF, I'd be inclined to say that this was in part from CyGames to push for more prizing from the ground up rather than Bushi itself. Because of this, both WS and CFV are indeed at the short end of the stick when it comes to prizing. Similarly, there has been no big push from the CFV side of things to be cross collab with WS (Both games were fundamentally started at pretty much the same time in English), but the crossover for SVE is indeed because the IP holders gave each other permission to use the collaboration as a tool to get the players to move into the other game.
    Side note: Speaking of the crossover, because the games WS and CFV are strictly for different audiences, I am more surprised that CFV did not get a collab WS set release back in the day. I probably would have played a WS deck with CFV as the featured series (I played Fate/Zero and UBW back then).

      Wow, this is the most amazingly detailed and concise I've ever gotten on my channel entirely! Thank you for taking the time to write this up and organizing your thoughts.
      I actually wasn't aware of CyGames at all. From what you mentioned, that would literally make more sense! There's only so much where philosophies can propagate through layers of business partnerships/etc.
      I hope all last they may reconsider a more consistent and similar prize structure to SVE. I think that in itself would be a great step on the right direction overall. I mentioned an entry fee with Konami's 5 pack concept to help Bushiroad still push more product out and potentially having some margin gain to help with the prizing.
      Although we can only speculate and I'm sure they've been considering many more options. Thanks again for your response!

    V would probably be my favorite format but they just refuse to support it or update the restriction list. Who wants to play against Gurguit all day. Honestly feel bad for anyone drawing that short straw on their team. BSF was always more fun that BCS because you knew you weren't going to have to play against the same deck all day. There's no incentive now to play your rogue deck when you can play the tier 0 deck in every format.

    NY and CA regionals at least need a top 16 or top 32.
    You literally have 8-9 rounds of Swiss before the cut... meaning you could go x-1 you and are not guaranteed a top 8 slot.
    And I know that some people are going to say "skill issue" or "its easier to just do top 8" yeah sure, drive or damage check your OT, you win. Deeeeefinitely Skill issue.
    Alternatively they could have two separate blocks for these larger Regional events.
    Will Bushi do anything? I highly doubt it. Though there could be some unintended consequences.
    For example, those with money could just fly to one of the lesser populated areas and play there for a better shot at Top 8.

    • @CommanderJaime
      @CommanderJaime  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah 8-9 Swiss rounds can be a full day overall. We get around 8 in the Midwest lately. We also had ones where we do 10 rounds of Swiss, but that was broken up into two days.
      I think they did have blocks for NY before.
