  • The M140i has had its first mod and its a Stage1 ECU tune I’ll be taking it for a drive and telling you the difference and is it with it.

    Good POV even though these have been done to death that was well filmed. I am into the last year pcp and shall buy my m140 at the end, would like to do similar stuff to yours plus maybe a black rear diffuser as I think the grey one is a bit lame. Agree about the exhaust too as I don't want to piss the neighbours off but would like a bit more oomph. Keep thinking about getting an M2c but I know I would miss this beast its definitely the best engine I've ever owned lol plus way more affordable obviously.

    Wow. Nice stage 1 upgrade. Love the six cylinder growl and roar. Epic noise. Shame it’s not always dry down Mexico way for you.

    Cracking video as always. I just wanted to ask how you’re getting on with the stage 1 as it’s a few months down the line now. I’m thinking of getting my late 2017 shadow edition M140i mapped with the BM3 stage 1 so just doing a bit of research first.

    What did you think about the option of installing the Dinan Stage 1 tune. It's all external and seems to provide ~40 hp across the spectrum. I understand that it also doesn't impact the BMW warranty ... thoughts?

    If you can put up with the noise from a Stage 2 waking the neighbours up you will feel faint doing a 0-60 :) with traction control on it spins in the first 3 gears.

    Get the dual resonator delete carried out if you haven't already done so. Highly recommend it!

    Nice my dude. If these engines are anything similar to the n54 from the e92 335 they are very very capable. Adam over in the states has round 700hp out of his (baring in mind he's changes loads and come across some hiccups on the way, but that's incredible power from a stock engine). If you're chasing numbers modern bmws are the way to go 👌🏼 VAG don't seem close, unless spending the $$.
    Keep it up though, it's a good watch✌🏼

      Yeah with a turbo change and fuel pumps etc you can see figures over 600bhp on stock internals, for stage 2 I’ll need a down pipe that’s it 😊
      yep it’s way cheaper than vag cars you can spend thousands on them and not reach 400bhp😅

    Mines standard apart from the m perfomance exhaust ...which sounds great ...without being too obnoxious...apart from when I start it at 5am ...my neighbor's prob hate it !

      Nice you can’t go wrong with the MPE👌🏻 yep I get you they cold start is loud💥 with this stage 1 the cold start isn’t as aggressive which some people like I don’t mind a loud one my self😂

    Love my remapped M140i.
    It might lack a bit of traction off the line, compared to an AWD hyper-hatch, but once you are rolling, oh yes, it's quick enough.
    Mine has stock everything, you don't need a panel filter. Mine was dyno'd stock, it made 336bhp, then after a tune, it made 411bhp/576nm.

      Yes that’s right the M140’s are so good after a map my old golf r at stage 2 made 414bhp and cost well over £3000 which is silly money compared to the M140i

      I wouldent even think of mapping these until you fit an LSD, just fitted one and although expensive the car needs it and performs so much better with it, i didnt quite believe internet talk but it turns out its true. Putting even more power through the open diff seems like a bit of a pointless exercise tbh.

      @@carmad1287 It's not pointless at all.
      Yes an LSD will help put the power down better, especially coming out of corners, and a little help off the line, but once you are rolling, an open diff is not at any disadvantage.
      Most of the time, I do not feel the need for an LSD, and thus I am still having great fun, and accelerating quicker than stock now I have got used to feathering the throttle a bit off the line to stop the wheelspin, and I have saved myself about £2500 by not getting a diff.
      That's a lot of money on fuel to enjoy the car.

      @@DjNikGnashers the open diff is at a disadvantage rolling, tyres never have the exact same traction even in a straight line so a diff will always help, ive felt the back kick out countless times at 50mph on dry roads with the open diff, even in traction mode the traction then kicks in and blunts the power, however with an lsd it transfers the power and you actually get it to the road, i cant imagine your stage 1 is any faster than a stock m140i with a lsd apart from maybe 60mph up on a dry day.
      I dont blame you not wanting to spend 2k on a diff its a lot of money but imo if i was going to map it thats what i would have done first.
      To be honest now i have an LSD the car is actually faster than it was in the real world and i cant see any need for any more power now, just would not be able to use it apart from motorway slip roads, it grips and goes so quick now compared to stock and im still on MPSS tyres.

      @@carmad1287 No disrespect mate, genuinely.
      But I had my car stock for a few weeks, and I drive it hard.
      After the remap, it is a lot quicker, in every situation.
      Yes, with an LSD it would be much easier to control, and be even quicker than it is now, but to say a car isn't going to be any faster than stock, when it's got about 90 more bhp and nm of torque just because it hasn't got an LSD is just rubbish, honestly.
      Once I am above 40mph, the back end is very controllable under full throttle in the dry, I suspect pilot sport 4 tyres help.

    As a young ish driving looking to go to a bigger power car from a 1.0, would you say this is the car to get? I can’t decide between this and a mk7golf r. Cheers mate great vid again

      I would say a 7 GTI or R in DSG they are easy to drive fast and a will be a massive difference in power, the m140 is normally a step up from the Mk7’s I’d say just because they can get you in trouble and they can be a handful also the mk7’s are cheaper on insurance👍 (the 1.8 polo gti 6c is a good move in manual) Thanks 🙏🏻

      Nope, much better to get a BCS midpipe OR have the resonator and silencer cut out on welded. MPE is crazy overpriced. Another option is a modified m140i backbox by bob williams or pcw exhaust mods.

    Please please please also a Stage 1 Tune for the Audi S1. 😍👍🏻👍🏻 But i think befor you can do that you must change the intercooler and downpipe, so it have a better result.😅

    How much power did this make approximately after stage 1?
    Edit : listened properly and you said over 400. Will be good to get it on a dyno to see the power curve 👍🏾

      bit late, but unless your going constantly full throttle the car isnt as drivable, power delivery is spiky as fuck

      He hasn’t ruined the m140i it’s only a remap to make it better for performance for him, if you don’t like what he’s doing just unsubscribe it’s that simple!
      True car enthusiasts respect other car enthusiasts cars including what they do to it but you’re just an ignorant lad who possibly can’t afford an m140i
