What does this mean for my application? I’m getting worried because Unisa opens for registration on Monday 9 January. And my nsfas application is not yet processed. And also, why does it say 0% for the information and documents section on the nsfas website regarding my application? Because I filled in all my information and submitted all documents that they required
What are they doing now? We cannot reach them on the phone and the portal isn't working either. Are they going to take a whole year to fix this system????

It is the system that is currently down because NSFAS drawing lists/reports of funded students. You can alternately check with your institutions on the funded lists.

Hi Nsfas issued a statement on Twitter and Facebook on Friday the 28th of Jan stating that there's an issue with their system. If I'm not mistaken it's an update issue or something.

@@c3abdullah226 If the university said that you can register because they can see you are NSFAS funded, then you are good to register and you can go for accommodation but always carry some deposit maybe 3K. If the university hasn't said anything i don't know. Different university has different ways of doing things.

Hello I have a different problem I started my degree in 2018 and I had to finish 2021 but due to circumstances I couldn't so I'm suppose to be N+ but my NSFAS portal says not funded due to exceeding N+2, I've tried applying for appeal but there's no option for an appeal please assist if possible.

It is normal, NSFAS is drawing reports (lists) of funded students to submit them to Institutions. You can check your name on the list of funded students at your institution.

Dear Kagisho What assets are you referring to? Because I use my assets to research, record and edit these information I get to help students who are struggling with applications and other questions. The NSFAS team take months to reply to students/ applicants from emails, Facebook page, twitter page and worse on calls. How is it possible to that the steps aren't correct and inaccurate whereas they are explained just on the NSFAS portal and on the FAQs from the NSFAS website. Information that is published on the Newsroom (from NSFAS website), I believe it is for the community and I do not see any crime to spread the news. Please sir, help us by encouraging your team to respond to student's enquiries because they are frustrated. I have helped so much people , Of course you would not know me because I am not on your payroll and I do not do this for firm but to assist students with information that do not need your system. The at least you could have done or do sir is/was to correct and add where we missed information as a spokesperson. Thank you. Mancoba

Any results , relax. it is not your issue to worry. Follow up with the university.

can I ask how long does it usually take for NSFAS to give financial clearance?
It depends on when did your institution send their claims to NSFAS and how long NSFAS take to respond or pay to the institutions.

Usually they check your household combined income, (yours, your mother and your father).
