    KC, you are a special person to be creating such wonderful videos. I am pushing 80 and still get out on the water and must admit your Florida Gulf Coast videos keep the fires lit. Wife and I launch two hardshells off of Thule Hullavators on a Tundra, but your move to inflatables has me rethinking our strategy. Having a hard time picking the best Sea Eagle model for our future life on the water, but your videos have been invaluable.

      Thanks for watching and commenting John!! If you want fast and high performance like a 25-28’’ wide touring kayak, then choose the RazorLite. If you want the performance of a wider, sit on top fishing kayak, then choose the FastTrack. Hope this helps!!!

    Thanks for the video Cliff. The more I watch your video, the more I’m considering on selling my hard kayak for the 473rl. How does the hull handle nosing this kayak on a rocky, or sandy beach? Or how will this handle any stray protruding roots of the mangroves? I want to explore the mangroves in the Keys with my wife.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Arvin - Sorry for the delay. I “nose” the kayak into sandy beaches all the time. If it’s rocky, I just pull up along the shoreline, parallel to it, and get out.
      Even when I had boats, I was always careful not to pull up on areas that could damage / scratch my boat. The hard plastic V shaped feature at the bow,
      cuts through water like a knife and does well up on sandy shorelines too. If the extremely durable black 1000 denier material behind the plastic bow gets
      scuffed, I just smear a little black flex seal paste on it to protect it. Hope this helps, below are other adventure videos in my RazorLite:

    When I'm paddling the mangroves in my kayak, I bring a telescoping "emergency" paddle used for boating. Ranges from 20" to 40". You can pick them up on Amazon for ~$15.

    Need a cover to keep water out
    Thinking of pvc glue and a cover with a long zipper like the kpak kayak I don't use anymore.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋 James - All I ever get is some paddle drip that accumulates after a couple hours of paddling. No big deal though, it only adds up to about a
      quart. The accumulated water doesn’t slosh around and get you wet, because it sits below the floor of the boat and out of the way. I don’t usually have
      problems with water coming over the bow in choppy conditions, because the RazorLite is so buoyant which keeps the bow up when large boat wakes / swells
      come up. The bow just seems to lift up naturally, due to the inflation and the high load carrying capability of the boat. If you are doing major sea kayaking
      in large open ocean / water with wind and big waves, yes, you will probably want an enclosed cockpit kayak that is sealed shut with a skirt. Hope this helps,
      safe adventuring out there!

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Brad! Thanks for watching and commenting! While the PaddleSki is a do-everything boat, I don’t think it’s 48’’ width would be able to squeeze through the tight mangroves that occur on some stretches of this paddle. I hope this helps, stay safe out there!!!

    How do you like the paddles that come with the Sea Eagle Razorlites?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi K9! If you don’t have a paddle and you want something decent. Their carbon fiber shaft with resin blades is a nice paddle. That is what I’m using in that video. The aluminum four part paddle is nice, but it is heavier and ultimately you will be looking for something a little bit lighter if you cover a lot of miles.

    Great video, Cliff! It's clear I'm going to have to take a trip to FL with my Razorlite in the near future. So many places to paddle there. I always enjoy your 393RL videos. Potentially dumb question: you mentioned taking a canoe paddle in the mangroves...couldn't you just separate your Aquabound and use one half of it? Maybe wrap a cloth around the open end to avoid any discomfort to the hand gripping it? Or is that a very bad idea? Also, just FYI: I think you meant the early part of the 20th century, not 19th century when you were talking about the airport (19th century would have been 1800's). Thank you for taking us with you to the mangroves! P.S. Meant to ask: were you using your skeg in this video?

    Great videos Cliff! I just recently came across you and have been looking at your videos. I subscribed and I’m giving them well-earned Likes.
    I also have a 393RL and wanted to ask you about your camera set up in the front of the kayak. I’m assuming that is where you are placing your GoPro. Would you mind telling me what the mount setup is and how you attached it to the floor of the kayak?
    Also, how are you recording the great sound quality? Do you have a separate mic or is that just through the GoPro? I don’t have any experience with a GoPro yet.
    Thanks again for the great videos!

      Hi Dave - Thanks for watching and your kind comments! I’m going to post a few links of everything I use to record via the gopro out of my SeaEagle boats. It would be nice if you could just screw down a camera mount, but that won’t work Lol! Here is everything you need from Sea Eagle to mount a camera to your RazorLite:

      My camera is the GoPro Hero 10 and I use that for most everything I do, when I’m not using a drone. Just bought the GoPro Max, but still learning 360 video / photography. The most important thing to mount to your GoPro is a micro wind jammer, which will block out all but the worst winds. Here’s the amazon link for the wind jammer.
      Sony RX100MVII - for zoom footage or depth of field:

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi LJ - I was not using the skeg on this paddle. I like the kayak to be responsive when I need to turn. I find it tracks extremely well without the skeg when I am paddling, but I’m an experienced paddler that can compensate my strokes when needed. When I stop paddling, it tends to drift. Now that’s just me, with this kayak you have options. If you would rather have the skeg for rock steady tracking, it is there for you to use. I use mine when I’m in open water windy conditions or when expecting swift cross currents. Take care and have a great week!
