Minami is probably the only singer imo that comes close to Ado in terms of conveying emotions through her singing especially in the area of vulnerability. This was a breakout hit for her despite the mixed reception of Domestic Girlfriend itself. Love or hate the series most can agree Minami killed the song and it usually ranks super high on many people anime opening rankings. Manga btw are the Japanese equivalent of comics and usually are adapted into Anime which is just a truncated name for Japanese Animation as a whole. Hope that helps.
@lordrimuru2003 I don't disagree KAF is another good example of portraying vulnerability in vocal approach but it's hard to deny that currently Ado is the clear frontrunner in emotional portrayal and by and large Japanese singers tend to do emotion better on average than other countries nowadays. It makes me sad that American music as a whole has stagnated since the turn of the century.
@elmanderlokendero25 Ado is the most versatile female singer if not singer in general in Japan at the moment and it no surprise she is taking over where she goes. Her breaking through into the Western market like she is doing currently will hopefully open doors for others to follow. She isn't the type of person to pull the ladder up behind her. Maybe this will open more doors for other talent from Japan to thrive.
Manga are Japanese comics. They usually get adapted into anime, as most anime are adaptations of manga and light novels (Short novels, usually 100-200 pgs),
This is such a beautiful song. You don't need to know the lyrics to feel the emotions, right? I don't know, but there's some level of expressiveness in Japanese women's vocals that just works for me. I think the breathiness of the vocals is a huge factor. It sounds more personal, as if she's singing right into my ear, not a microphone. I knew this song way before I learned what anime it's from and it's funny, because it's a pretty "trashy" story about a guy hooking up with a girl right before coming home and learning that his dad and his hookups mum are getting married, which makes them step-siblings. I'm definitely going to watch it at some point, but from what people are saying it's a guilty pleasure at worst, and a surprisingly good romance hidden behind a very out of pocket gimmick.
One of my favourites by far, yes! All her songs are bangers, but I'd recommend you to check out her Hollowness mv with lyrics on (her lyrics are always very special). 🎆
Anime is usually taken from a manga, where it tells a story and has its illustrations. Minami is very good, I recommend listening to her song Hollowness
domestic girlfriend is emotional rollercoaster series, anime adoptation have like 1/6 of manga in 1 season, and rated preaty bad, but i love this manga. its "guid how not to do in reletions" in first place, but have good storyline about characters carrier desigions
I've known drumrolltony for almost 20 years, back before he was "drumrolltony" we worked together and hung out all the time. That's funny as hell that you would connect the two of us, he's actually helping me with this channel and with my patreon. I hope you enjoyed it!
Manga is 'comics' in Japanese where as anime is Animation
if you want to react to more songs from minami "Hollowness" is also really good
She's honestly so consistent, any song is worth it. Not to forget Eternal Blue, which got axed for publisher reasons, but is still around.

I think ReoNa and LiSA do very well conveying emotion through signing as well

I love Ado, I wish Minami had the same recognition as her.

Also TK From Ling Tosite Sigure, while I love Ado's cover of Unravel the Acoustic version and First Take Version by TK himself are still better imo...
Minami is my favourite singer! You have to listen to Hollowness by her, I think its her best song
