  • On today's What America's Thinking, a new Hill-HarrisX poll reveals almost 60 percent of Democratic voters believe employers have a right to fire their workers for something offensive they did or said off the clock. This survey was conducted online within the United States from September 30 - October 1 among 948 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this poll is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age, gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, education, ideology and area type where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.

This debate is a clear example of the issue. It all opens the question that people assume has been answered, which is "Where do rights come from?" Are rights simply privileges granted by an authoritative group or are rights something that exist beyond the opinions of people. One's frame of reference in that regard determines what they are actually asking and what type of answer they are open to entertaining. They're not touching it with a ten foot pole right here.

I had someone behave offensive (gestures and probably words) towards me. He was in a company vehicle.
After several days of this, I called and let them know. I stressed I did not want him fire, I just wanted the behavior to stop. I did not mention the color of my skin, I am sure it had nothing to do with it.
