As someone who spent 32 months in federal custody, I am here to personally attest to the fact that working for Unicor (making US military clothing, etc.) in the federal prison system is the most coveted job on every compound. Much better pay, more "freedom", and people learned skills in manufacturing to apply in the real world. My neighbor worked there for 15 years on a 30-year sentence. So, Jessica, please take your own advice and speak to some federal inmates, they would be remiss to lose that.

Illegal immigrations isn’t caused by weak border enforcement. Border enforcement has only ever gotten stronger over the years and decades. Try figuring out why the immigration doesn’t stop. Hint, then you can’t abuse undocumented Americans for cheap labor.
Always funny when republicans, not saying the following is what you believe btw, are against any prohibition type regulation for guns, but will die on the hill of draconian punishments for immigration or drugs.

Yes the American immigration system is also an angle of attack towards labor. This goes for illegal immigration and those with work visas. Being anti-mass deportation doesn’t mean you don’t recognize how labor is affected. In fact, it points to understanding that you need immigration reform and amnesty towards the millions of Americans without citizenship. The reason immigration in this country is never fixed and is always scapegoated by border security is because addressing these issues means corporations can no longer abuse cheap illegal immigrants for cheap labor and curb their unionizing efforts with the threat of deportation, their only risk being a calculated minor fine if caught hiring people without work visas.

I would like to see a study showing that. The people who are working out of prisons have extra administrative costs tacked onto their work value. Things like the guards that have to watch them, the administrative people who have to organize it, the food that has to be provided while outside of the prison, etc. so those costs increase how much a company has to pay for this work to be done. The two dollars an hour is nothing compared to the rest of it.

Why would the prisoners need to work at the federal min wage when they don't need to buy housing, food, clothing, or healthcare? She sunk her own battleship here and didn't see ..and neither did Robby. The living wage in prison should be a dollar or less since prisoners don't have any real expenses except a bag of Cheetos from commissary.

But somehow they don't seem to have that equivalent runaway retail theft problem in Texas. I haven't been to Texas in years, but my hunch is that's because you can use force to stop shoplifters from leaving with stolen goods and you'll face no legal liability. Tell me if I'm wrong.
