In the 70s I was of course a rock guy, that's why I picked up a guitar. I didn't like the new wave stuff but when I heard this song I thought I could get into that. What a great choice from the talking head. I would have cut off my toe if I could have had youtube and a talented young man like Marty teaching me. Crappie turntables and vinyl moving a needle around really sucked but if you wanted to play that's what you did.
I was jamming around a couple of weeks ago and I happened to play F, G and C major chords in that sequence. Bam: 'Run, run run away'. That's a sequence that can be retired. I can't NOT hear Psycho Killer. Maybe with a lot of sauce. Not saying it's bad but It's like Psycho Killer owns that phrase. I changed keys and switched to a different groove altogether. "Play something once, why play it again?” as David Byrne might say.

@Marty Music: Hey! :) I love your channel but I have a problem: It makes it look as if, even as a total novice, I can leap in and play Everlong in an hour. Turns out I find it hard to play almost any chord except the really easy ones. It always seems like "First practice for five years, then when you can play, come back and learn some songs!" Any tips on how a total novice should approach learning the songs you teach? 😭
