My grandfather bought one of these brand new many years ago. He retired it about 5 years ago after a heart attack because of the weight of it and bought a lighter one. I was going through the shed after he passed last year and grabbed it. Some fresh gas in the tank and it fired right up like it was shut off yesterday. Some minor adjustments and I used it for a few small projects that same day. Impressive little machine.

Hello there! Wow, looks like a quality built item! I've never used paraffin ( kerosene) to clean anything, but can recommend turps ( or turpentine if you prefer!). Through the winter I always oil up my equipment and motorcycle to preserve them - 50/50 turps and clean engine oil, so it can be sprayed on with a small hand squirter. Turps will remove this protection, along with grease, tar spots etc., and can be sprayed on with a hand atomizer spray, or dip a paintbrush into it and rub on. Doesn't affect plastics or paint, and nowhere near as flammable as petrol. Water will remove most of the residue too. Worth a try!

INSIDE HOUSE GARAGE What occurs to me is the significant increase in load on an engine like this when you mount a prop on it. Choice of prop diameter and pitch are absolutely critical. Information about this is available online I’m sure, with charts listing various props matched to specific horsepower and available torque. There are people who specialize in prop work who would probably be happy to advise you based on the specifics of your engine and boat you may want to power. Also worth considering is obtaining a marine fuel tank with venting and priming bulb and the connections you’d need to modify your engine slightly to adapt for that use. Any marine store can advise you about that.

@@Rein_Ciarfella I am starting out thinking maybe an electric trolling motor prop would be about right. I have a troy bilt 635 4 stroke weedeater that is just perfect for this little trip into madness. 😁

@@stellarproductions8888 yeah.... it wouldn't be quiet or fast and the clutch would either lock or burn and there are better ways to go about getting from a to b but you have to admit it would be fun to try. I don't think it would move anything bigger than a canoe.
Sometimes we look for a better way to accomplish a goal. This won't be practical, just fun to try.

One of the best strimmers I own, make sure the head is well lubricated through the bolt removable (if not seized, replacements are available) on the side of the cutting head. The stihl grease tube very handily screws into the hole so it's a mess free job.

Repeating my comment from your previous video, I’ve started using Super Clean and am very impressed with how well it removes dirt and oil from a chainsaw and rinses off easily with no fumes. Last year I was given a Stihl FS110R trimmer/brushcutter (R stands for a model without the bicycle handle). I was pretty excited to get this because although it has a trimmer head mounted it is designed to use a brush blade as well and I have an acre with a lot of brush overdue for clearing. A friend told me he has a couple of tools he wants to give me with bicycle handles so after repairs and servicing I will purchase a blade and mount a bicycle handle and be ready for some serious brush cutting!

I had an older one of these years ago on one of my runs of doing yard work and the handlebars were NOT good for grass but the washer that gave you such a fit on the other trimmer for locking the head up was the right size for a 12 inch table saw blade and would cut anything down in a blink and was the most dangerous thing on earth. I also used a tri-cut blade in brier patches. I never had much success with the blade like you have and an old degreasing solution is a bottle of Dawn to a gallon of kerosene. I have one made up but just use gas and compressed air and 409. They are tough rigs. BLESSINGS!
