      That is Griff Rhys Jones - he was a BBC radio producer and comedy writer until he was asked to do Not the Nine o Clock News. Curiously one of the programmes he produced was Top of the Form on which a young schoolboy Hugh Grant was a contestant. Bit of comedy trivia for you. You're welcome.

      The penny blue isn’t a stamp, it is the original template for some of the first postage stamps. There are different blues for different stamps, but each one is unique. Hence the joke.

    I just found out that Mr Atkinson had a télévision existense before impersonating Mr Bean. This is so odd and funny. Just as at beginning of all Mr Bean épisodes, i thought he just appeared out of nowhere . Never crossed my mind that he most likely had a career before Bean 😂

    Man, why can't comedy be like this these days! This shows serious talent, ideas with thought to them. Comedy these days, most of the time, is simply about making an ass of people.

      Just as to consider and ponder, the weight of the vocabulary used and the skill in which it is, has run off a cliff in 2017 comedy. I do in my mind, while laughing at their jokes, think how good use of the English language is done in the NTNOCN and is still, in British comedy. I really hope that it doesn't erode away.

    It's a crime that Not the 9 o'clock News isn't available to buy in its entirety. There are so many superb sketches left in the vaults,
    purely because it's believed that today's audiences wouldn't be familiar with or care about the often contemporary political satires
    featured on the show. We've all heard about Thatcher, right? That's all you need to know.
