  • Unveiling Toyota's Masterpiece: Crown Sport PHEV - 302 HP, 56-Mile EV Range
    Toyota launched the PHEV version of the Crown Sport in Japan, which joins the existing self-charging hybrid with more power, a sportier chassis setup, and a zero-emission range. The first PHEV model in the Crown series is also the sportiest and most expensive yet, costing a full ¥1,750,000 ($12,090) more than the HEV equivalent.
    The electrified powertrain combines the usual naturally aspirated 2.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output of the PHEV is 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS), compared to the 231 hp (172 kW / 234 PS) of the HEV, with both featuring the E-Four electric 4WD system.
    Furthermore, the larger capacity battery of the PHEV which is positioned under the floor, allows a zero-emission range of up to 56 miles (90 km) between charges. Toyota says that with a full tank of gasoline and a fully recharged battery, the model has a driving range of over 746 miles (1,200 km). A full charge will take 5.5 hours from a standard outlet, while a rapid charger will take it to 80% in 38 minutes. The Japanese automaker advertises the sporty character of the electrified SUV, which is further accentuated in the PHEV version. Toyota engineers added extra bracing on the floor for improved rigidity, and tweaked the setup of the shock absorbers in the Adaptive Variable Suspension system. Furthermore, the 20-inch ventilated discs with six-piston brake calipers provide enough stopping power for the added weight. Note that the PHEV tips the scales at 2,030 kg (4,475 lbs), compared to the 1,810 kg (3,990 lbs) of the HEV but the extra power results in superior performance figures. As a refresher, the 4,720 mm (185.8 inches) long Crown Sport is based on the TNGA platform, as with the rest of the Crown-badged lineup

      @@dongolahmed The average new car in the U.S. sells for $47,300. The average EV in the US sells for $53,700. The top model Toyota PHEV would sell fine at $50K.

    seriously, they leave the good cars in the Japan. and bring nipped models to the US. WHY???

    • @DriveExpressTV
      @DriveExpressTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's frustrating when we see exciting models like the Toyota Crown Sport PHEV released in Japan while the US market seems to get a different lineup. There are several factors at play here. Firstly, the preferences and regulations in each market differ. Japan has a strong demand for luxury sedans like the Crown, while in the US, SUVs and trucks dominate the market. Additionally, automakers often tailor their offerings to fit the specific tastes and needs of each market. What might be a hit in Japan might not necessarily translate to success in the US. However, with the increasing focus on sustainability and electrification globally, we might see more diverse offerings making their way to different markets in the future.
