@piranhax6466Yeah... because there's a new heavy fighter coming. So you don't care about the old one anymore, there's a shiny new one! Who cares if they nerf the Ares for the Guardian? Or the Redeemer for the Paladin? Or the Corsair for no reason?
As someone that uses this ship a lot the changes in weapon cooldown mechanics between 3.24.3 and 4.0 are indeed significant. In 3.24.3, the cooldown can feel like an ammo reload because it interrupts your firing sequence, especially when you need to re-aim at moving targets. This can be frustrating as it breaks the flow of combat. In contrast, 4.0 seems to offer a more fluid experience. The ability to pause briefly and then resume firing without hitting a cooldown makes combat feel smoother and more responsive. This change likely enhances your overall effectiveness in battle, allowing for better target reacquisition and sustained fire. Still need to do more testing.
In 3.24 overheat acts more like a reload. It has an 8 second pause after 177 rounds regardless of if it’s one trigger pull or multiple. There isn’t a cooldown mechanic between trigger pulls. I am guessing this is the simplified model they were referring to. If after letting off the trigger cooldown starts and it’s not a hard pause every 77 rounds, this may not be a huge nerf. I assume either way it will at some point act more like a cooldown than a reload.
I just came back to the game after a year or so and had no idea why ballistic guns would just stop firing lol. So, they overheat now? I don't see anywhere on the screen showing a heat bar to let me know when it's going to happen. Did I miss it or does it not exist?
I think for this ship, the best thing to do will make it to where it can fire 125 or maybe even 150 rounds before it overheats and make the cool down about five or six seconds, personally I would go at five
i know this video is about Ares but i have to say the 325A is still a good ship for me. i got it in 2013 and it is still a fast boom and zoom fighter. I did Stanton bounties up to VHRT with the 325A @Full attritions Setup. In 4.0 the stantron bounties are not so easy anymore. Connie for VHRT. But ERT alone AND looting is not possible atm. Maybe one torpedo ship for Hammerhead and the rest i can kill with Connie alone, like 2 carracks and 2 starrefuel ships. Connie @4x Attr 5. The Drake Caterpillas in stanton bounties bring up a really deadly fire that you cant slide away anymore. Or was it the server? AI hit you any time from medium range. The times are over where you could dance with a C2 and AD5B in ERT....
"Mom look, I made it on TV!" 😂 He did reply that they are going back to look at things on Monday, so hopefully, it will be good again before 4.0 goes live 🤷
That cool down time on a cap ship would be HORRIBLE! The less ammo used is HORRIBLE! Oh CIG why why why! Balance be damned, this fighter has a size 7 GUN expose to the ultimate cooling source, SPACE! Ah well, rant off.
One would think CIG would just make a bespoke ares inferno only mount separate from anything else.... oh I see. If you know you know, and personally I am not a fan of nerfing something if it affects the core, especially for niche ships that have a singular mount for damage.
Man… every ship will get buffs and nerfs… then it will get buffed, then nerfed and then buffed. This will happen over and over again until all mechanics are in, all roles are established. Things should be aligned for 1.0. Until they do microscope adjustments for each ship.
With the test you performed, the Ares seems fine to me. I don't know what kind of easy mode players are asking for in order to be satisfied with its performance, but it's FINE.
Have they changed this already. When I check on erkul, its dps is 3085 sustained (continuos fire 16.67 and 6.5 seconds cool down. If this is correct, they have significantly buffed the dps.
I used to use the C2 for vhrt, but with new concepts, I am struggling to find a good weapon to use. The slower omnisky cannons only give me 7 shots and yes do damage but it feels slow. The ad5b is seemingly good, but seems to be same damage as lasers, and lasers don’t require to be reloaded. Anyone have a good c2 weapon setup? Preferably slower fire rate, maximum damage
The huge problem with CIG is the stupidity of their changes. Who would make a Gatling cannon that overheats after a less than 100 rounds? There is no purpose to the high fire rate, so why make it? There is supposed to be a game hiding in the beautiful bug ridden mess somewhere, but it is becoming more and more clear with time that they never figured out what that game is, so they keep reinventing what they want by stomping over what they already have. Can anyone say "squirrel!"?
On the other hand they just gave the 315p 1.2SCU quantum fuel (all other 300i-series remain at/got 0.7SCU) which makes it a real option for Pyro, it’s even better than the Intrepid now! 12SCU vs 8SCU cargo, dual S3 hardpoints vs the single S4 and dual S1 shields instead of a single… As I don’t play the ccu-game, if/when CIG nerfs a ship, I can always melt it and replace it with the new and ‘best’. I’m looking forward to the Guardian, but we all know they will nerf that one too in time. Personally I don’t really care anymore, I’ve melted both my Areses before. We are ways of a release so LTI and even 10Y insurance doesn’t really matter. And some nerfs turned out okay! Just don’t do the ccu-game and you’ll be fine! Cheers man o7
You can ccu game along with melting. Seems you don't want the savings offered like a $300 Polaris. Seems silly to me but hey live a blissful life if you want. Small ship savings are less than big ones but they can exist.
@@rhadiem Nah, I don't even want a Polaris. The largest I feel comfortable with is the C2 and I might even melt that. The ccu-game only made you feel like you are getting more value for your pledge money. Meanwhile I'm not locked into any chain or whatever, I'm not bound to that certain ship you'll never melt because you got it so 'cheap'. Remember if you melt a $300 Polarus, you can't get it back for that price. And you have to admit that everyone, including me and you, who has invested more than say 60 bucks or euro's into this game, is a bit silly. 300 bucks for a Polaris is still an aweful load of dough for a game. But hey, I'm not here to judge you. If you are happy with what you have achieved, good for you, and I really mean that! There are certainly more stupid things to blow money on and we're likely both enjoying SC in our own way. In the end that's all that really matters. Cheers o7
Fine give it 77 rounds, but make them all burst in 1 second like an actual A10. The bullet velocity is to slow, and the long overheat mechanic makes the ship completely useless against any small fighters
@infinitespace239 I was thinking of getting The guardian anyway I just got the inferno for when my crew is running the Polaris I have a capital killer on board since they all have the scorpios
Try to use the "S7 Gatling" on a ship it's supposed to kill, not a fragile fighter. Grab a HH or Carrack and test it. The Inferno is supposed to be a killer. We can barely kill a connie with this thing, they have destroyed it, a $250.00 paperweight. The Hornets have more dps than this, move faster, and are medium fighters. Soo disappointed in CIG
Dumb question but maybe it deserves a dumb answer lol you decide...anyway what if you increase the power to weapons AND TURN OFF power to all unnecessary systems? Would it shoot longer then?
They reduced the ammo capacity because it was ridonkulously large, as it should be, to take out a Capital Ship, and it mowed through waves of lighter fighters.
2500 is trash already. F8C deals 50% more sustained dps with energy weapons… What the f ??? Okay,… I went through all the fighters and the F8 and F7 are so laughably overpowered. They lead in every class by 10-50%+ dps without any weaknesses.
come on, boys. CIG needs to sell those new ships. you're not going to begrudge them nerfing older ships designed to hunt those newer ships. inferno makes those newer ships a little less sparkly. that, and you all didn't mind CIG nerfing older ships when the inferno first appeared for sale. be a little consistent...
This appears to be a nothing burger. You also lost me when you said the Ion was worthless. I thought it was too because streamers kept saying it, but I flew it this week and it was actually pretty damn good. Cleared a VHRT in 3 minutes. One shot a light fighter, killed a Starfarer in less than 10 shots. I think I'll trust EvenLease review of the ion over this. Ares didn't get nerfed.
So basically all Ballistic Gatlings got this extended heat time, and you only focus on the Ares Inferno only? Not a very fair assesment. Seeing this effect also happens on the Ballistic Canons and Ballistic Repeaters. Every ballistic weapon is basically ''nerfed''
I would just wait for a rebalance. They just added this overheat mechanic on the ballistic weapons. So the initial stats will of course be changing weapons balance.
Game Balancing takes actual Balancing ships into their intended roles. Inferno can pick off the PDC of Cap Ships. Lets not be stupid. We all knew it had to happen and expected it. The biggest mistake you can make is thinking this game will not be balanced across all ships to for a strategic reason to bring or use everything. You will not be Over-Powered. This is NOT Pay To Win.
At this rate, by 4.0 the ares will have the dps of a Intrepid 😂
I guess CIG saw me finish off a crippled Idris with an intrepid & thought it was good enough! XD
😊 no kidding with no bathroom or shower or bunk
Merai Guardian sale is coming, what do you expect CIG to do? NOT nerf something?
The guardian is already vanguard competition.. no other ships should be done reguardless
@piranhax6466 the Ion/inferno is a heavy fighter too.
@KipKil1igan noone talks about the ion anymore.. that ship is just dead in the water
@piranhax6466Yeah... because there's a new heavy fighter coming. So you don't care about the old one anymore, there's a shiny new one! Who cares if they nerf the Ares for the Guardian? Or the Redeemer for the Paladin? Or the Corsair for no reason?
The Aries and the guardian should not be compared at all because they are both heavy fighters, but they are meant to do two different things
The Aurora is catching up fast - LOL

Exactly like that, no bar, and you can't see the gun overheating.
Yogi "Not a nerf" Klatt.
Probably some light fighter meta sweats got killed by the Ares again, so it has to be nerfed further.
I think for this ship, the best thing to do will make it to where it can fire 125 or maybe even 150 rounds before it overheats and make the cool down about five or six seconds, personally I would go at five

They crushed any desire I had to own one because they won't leave it alone.
it would be interesting to see what different coolers or power settings for them do .. do they actually impact cool down times ?
Coolers are completely not functioning right now. You can turn them off and everything will work.
That cool down time on a cap ship would be HORRIBLE! The less ammo used is HORRIBLE! Oh CIG why why why! Balance be damned, this fighter has a size 7 GUN expose to the ultimate cooling source, SPACE! Ah well, rant off.

Jogi Klatt already adresed this issue. It is not intended and it affects ALL ballistic weapons.
Yeah not really a nerf if it affects all ballistic ship weapons. Only because this one has a fixed weapon.
Man… every ship will get buffs and nerfs… then it will get buffed, then nerfed and then buffed.
This will happen over and over again until all mechanics are in, all roles are established. Things should be aligned for 1.0.

Maybe one day the Ares will be good again
Definitely! It will be good once they need to sell the Ares Starfighter Mk. II
MAGA!!!!! Make Ares Great Again!!
It wont, cuz light fighter sweats will complain they got nuked cuz they stood infront of a giant gun.
@rrekki9320 FACT !
With the test you performed, the Ares seems fine to me. I don't know what kind of easy mode players are asking for in order to be satisfied with its performance, but it's FINE.
It doesn't matter if you think it is fine or not. I am looking for facts. CIG says it's not nerfed. But the fact is, it is nerfed. o7
@@infinitespace239exactly, I don’t see how people don’t seem to understand that very simple fact. It’s nerfed clearly.

There is no game hidden here, only more JPEG sales
They've got a ship they want to sell ( guardian?) on 4.0 and that's why they're nerfing it

Fine give it 77 rounds, but make them all burst in 1 second like an actual A10. The bullet velocity is to slow, and the long overheat mechanic makes the ship completely useless against any small fighters
Sub-Component targeting is the main job of the Inferno. Not hull DPS.
Man what will they nerf next for a sale..... Also who wants to go from 30+seconds of firing to 6-7seconds LMAO
Bro this makes me so sad I just got this ship in IAE since it's the capital killer...
Don't worry, they will correct it, at least I hope.

@infinitespace239 I flew it in every patch. You didn't refute my points.
But seriously.. why would anyone want to buy a ship.. almost no ship has been shit on has hard as the Ares/Inferno line. S7 gun hits like a S4.

More likely nerf because people complain in cheaper fighters getting molly wamped by an aries
That's why they nerfed it the first time. This nerf is so you'll get upset the Ares sucks and buy the new heavy fighter instead
I got rid of mine a long time ago. It's nerf's were stupid.
Yes, this means Mirai Guardian is close
Gotta make sure those people that bought a Polaris to fly it solo can't lose to anyone when they take it into Pyro!
yeah this game is finally dead at least, 4.0 will be the last straw for most backers
why is it 4.0 last straw?
@protoni6996 if you thought A2's over jumptown were bad wait until you're getting blown into oblivion at every outpost you land at
At least it'll be easier to sell our accounts to the new batch of pledgers!
