    Great intro to your OMTech Dave. You are really off to the races and I am looking forward to more detail in coming episodes.

      Thanks for watching Alan and taking the time to comment. I'm really happy to have this Omtech laser in my shop and I haven't even got to the good stuff yet. 🙂

    Nice shop setup. I don't think it would hurt to leave the stock fan in place and run the new fan. It is a restriction point, but the new fan functions like a booster or vice versa.

      That's not how airflow works. You need to remove the weak stock fan to get a good draw.

    I am about the same spot as you in upgrades. Have not done the lens upgrade yet. Still having a blast cutting stuff out on it.

      @@DaveGatton yes they are, plus they are fast, so been able to knock out a couple projects/tests on my lunch hour every day.

    WOW! I heard you talking about a laser, but I was thinking you had a desktop model. That is a BEAST!

    The most useful “upgrade” I did on my laser is those silly hold downs that press into the honeycomb bed. It’s impossible to find wood that isn’t warped around here.

      Thanks for watching. I need to get some of those hold downs. I've been using magnets.

    I am trying learning more about AP lens. What lens do you use most?

    • @DaveGatton
      @DaveGatton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Douglas. I typically use the 2" lens the most. No real reason other than the stock lens that came with the Omtech was a 2". If I was doing an engraving and I wanted the best possible result I would use my 1 1/2" lens. If I needed to cut some thicker material I would use the 4" lens as the focal length is better for cutting than engraving. There is a good explanation of the different lens on the American Photonics website.

    Hey Dave! Did you plug your chiller power into the laser engraver? There is a port in the back for the chiller but i've seen others say not to use it. I just got my AF2435 and i'd prefer to have everything plugged into the laser but i also dont want to cause an issue.

    • @DaveGatton
      @DaveGatton  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I did not. I have my chiller plugged into a separate wall outlet on a different circuit. I've noticed that when you turn the chiller off the water will drain (because of gravity) out of the tube and back to the chiller. Because of that, I like to turn on my chiller 5-10 minutes before I actually run the laser. That way when the water goes back to the laser tube it has a few minutes to get rid of any bubbles.
