Fishing On Our Own At Reculver (Where Are The Fish!?) 4k

- We should be well underway with the Smooth Hound Fishing by now in Kent but they still haven't shown up in numbers and the later into May it gets the more difficult the fishing becomes because of the weed. The high tide was a little earlier than ideal but I managed to finish work a little bit quicker and get onto the beach at Reculver so that my baits were in the water before high. I was joined by Mark as we tried to get either a Smoothy or a Ray but the fishing proved to be very very difficult. Weed was showing and a strong current made holding bottom difficult and the crabs were getting to the baits within minutes. The sun was shinning though and its always better to be out, giving it a try than sitting indoors wondering 'what if!?'

Some fantastic footage of the surrounding area Greg , reculver is a stunning place , even more so at sunset . Unlucky not catching , I always tend to struggle at Reculver too , plagued with weed usually, . Look forward to the next one 👍🎣

@@gsp went to Deal beach. Dogs on every hook first cast, so went from 3 hook flapper to 1 hook
Did 40 yellow tail and 5 crab's in less than two hours, bites before I got the rod in rest! Fun time👍🏻
Good to see you fishing again. Used to be good fishing down there had some cracking codling. Good to see the farm down there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it used to breed and grow lobsters.. Always did better fishing night's. Anyway very enjoyable video. Regards to the family
The farm might do I'm not entirely sure 🤔. I've heard before about the good cod from Reculver. Amazing how things change

Firstly mate, the t turned up, so massive thank you for that, looks great. There have been quite a few hounds out here now, I havent had one yet, was supposed to be out targeting them last week, but I didn't make it out. Hopefully have a little bash tomorrow for a short session. I'm not on facebook at the mo, too many requests to go fishing, so give me a shout on my email if you do head over. Nice try Greg. The hound fishing this year has been very hit & miss. One minute you’ll catch ‘em, then the next tide!! Not a sniff.
I strongly believe it is due to the pollution that’s being pumped in from the storm drains + the sea temperature not being great.
Dymchurch is fishing ok (a few Rays among the Dogs & the May-Rot isn’t too bad.
I was very tempted with Dymchurch yesterday but I opted for a catch anything session at sandgate
If you turn up at a popular venue and find it empty it usually means the fishing is a no no or lots of weed it helps to phone Roly Cannon he can tell you what the fishing is like. You need to catch some fish soon mate, tight lines.
Unfortunately Keith I've never come across someone who can tell me what fish are feeding on a specific tide without them actually fishing that tide. You should never chase someone else's fish or someone else's session. Every tide fishes differently and you'll never know unless you get out and give it a go.
If everybody waited until someone else caught a fish nobody would be out fishing 😁
@@gsp I used to keep a fishing diary and year apon year certain patterns used to show up with differing weather conditions sometimes I would leave fishing because I knew they would not be there or not feeding you have a TH-cam channel which you need to keep updated but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do other things. Any way I am 80 years old what do I know? Only trying to help !!
Came back here today to get some more peeler, went down to where I fished Sunday and spotted a dead thorn back in a pool looks like he had been decomposing for a day or two, 10 metres from where I fished, there are fish it seems but they just don’t bite!
I think it's just very on and off atm. Some people are having good sessions and the next day it's devoid of life. Hopefully now this weather is settling the fishing will too🤞
Was down there yesterday cant bye a bite at the mo,fished the same as you,tried different coctails and blanked,and it cost me £11.20 to park .
The parking is ridiculous especially when there are no fish to catch🤦🤣

Fished HerneBay for decades if its clear and calm its normally a no and the crabs are out in force. I fish with live prawns caught from there and when the water's coloured and choppy I've had good results.
Yeah I really don't like fishing when it's really clear but when i only get 1 evening a week to fish I have to make the most of it. I didn't here though 🤦🤣

Its not just you Greg. There is little about sussex or kent . Its may rot all around Dungeness and sweet FA apart from the odd doggie. If we are wanting to catch we need to travel and chase fish 'cause they aint coming to us. 😂😂I know the Easteries are not helping but ive never known it this bad at this time of year😢

@@gsp Well today was pretty much textbook smoothhound conditions and yet to no surprise absolutely 0 smoothhound and 0 anything else too, there must’ve been at least 10 of us from the first set of groynes up till the 4th at least on my stretch I did not see anyone catch anything. Didn’t even get a knock in the slightest so it’s safe to assume the smoothhounds season has not properly started yet by the looks of it. Nonetheless it was a very nice evening! Also saw some small bass a few yards out, they’re in but the hounds aren’t? 😂
@@gsp just before I left i did get my line pulled from the reel a bit intermittently, I’m not really sure what it was might’ve been weed but there wasn’t a whole lot of it today, might’ve been what I was looking for but I didn’t stick around to entertain it

mate, ive just had 5 blanks on the trot, ive thrown all kind of baits and different rigs etc at it but no success. all ive got is a sun burnt forehead.🤣
