Good to hear that you've been well and welcome back, I've been vegan 8 years and through 2022 & 23 ,I was doing 2 or 3 days a month water fasting, is there any more of a benefit to doing that? Cheers and peace and positivity to everyone .

From a nutrition POV, there are health benefits to water fasting over regular fasting. Have a look at the work of True North Health. From a spiritual POV, I can not answer that although when Jesus fasted, he fasted from everything. It may be worth exploring and speaking about this topic with a spiritual father.

I've been following a McDougall type (no oil) vegan diet for years and years, so I guess Orthodox fasting would be very easy by now ;)

If I eat a big meal of plain white rice or white wheat pasta, I eat the same amount of calories as I do when I eat a big meal of whole wheat pasta or brown rice. No added fats or oils on either one. And I feel equally satisfied after eating either one. So fiber alone makes no difference in how much I eat or how satisfied I feel after eating. I usually eat whole wheat when I eat wheat since I think it tastes better but I only eat white rice.

As a vegan looking into Orthodoxy, I obviously have no problem with the foods but as someone with Type 2 diabetes, I do wonder about the timings. For instance, no eating before Divine Liturgy's communion (once accepted into the Church). I know it's a small thing but standing for 2+ hours in the morning with nothing in my stomach will send my blood sugars all over the place. Not eating until 3pm as some recommend would equally make me feel ill. Can I just focus on 3 'smaller' meals a day than I usually have?

In Orthodoxy we have something that is called oiconomia, which is basically leniency when it comes to the canons. So you can absolutely do what works best for you. I definitely recommend talking with a spiritual father about this but I have no doubt that they would be ok with exceptions. No one should be putting themselves in harm when it comes to fasting. We all carry our own cross. Happy you’re looking into Orthodoxy ☦️

Doesn't Paul tell the people to eat before they come to the Lord's table so they don't act like ravenous wolves lol

@@FoundSheep-AN Talk to your priest. If you need to eat due to medical reasons i think there is no problem, but talk to your priest.

This sounds like the Daniel fast.
I either water only fast, fresh juice fast or dry fast.

I got into traditional orthodox fasting and I developed diabetes and some undiagnosed intolerance towards all type of grains. I was a normal girl and I developed diabetes and if I eat a plate of pasta now a huge headache will come for at least 3 days
I am also fertile and my menstrual cycle on this diet was killing me with pain and my face becomes white and I didnt have enough FE in my blood anymore
Sorry that’s not for me. Maybe if you are an elderly menopausal woman or a men with raging testosterone you can do that cause on a vegan diet a testosterone in men will drop and men won’t be so sexually stimulated anymore.
If you have a wife though and want kids you could become impotent on this diet, I heard this happens especially to converts and people who never fasted before
I think all this rules should apply only to monks and nuns and not to sexually healthy and young people, I was developing PCOS on this diet and my hair were falling out.
I know some young men who are on this diet and they are always single and they are into their 30s and 40s with huge bellies and they are not even interested in having a wife.
I am done with this diet, I am not a man and not a nun.

Eating unclean animals is wrong and should never be promoted. Just look at how people react when around someone who doesn't eat unclean animals. They act personally offended and will literally get mad and argue with someone who wants to observe God's commands

    • @llsinll47
      @llsinll47 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Don't call common what God has made clean.
Repent, all animals have been made clean to eat, if a shrimp eating gentile can receive the Holy Spirit then that shows it's not what you eat. For God blesses ALL of come to his word.
You can get sick eating cow, lamb and ram just like pork.

What foods do you avoid? Do people react negatively to you ? How? Are you orthodox or something else?

I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. - Romans 14 : 14
