I’ve hated naval battles since black flag. I just suck at it in general and am not afraid to admit it 😂 p.s. Easy is just too easy. Normal is just right for me
I just bought this game about a week ago, the ultimate edition was on sale for 75% off, I've always loved assassin's Creed so I thought why not, it's a steal, and now it's one of my all time favorite games. I can't stop playing it. Love the elder scrolls vibes I'm getting from it ❤️ it is truly a beautiful game with so much to do and explore
Same here. I’ve placed every assassins Crees game but just bought this one about a month ago. The game is fun and definitely a lot to do. Kinda addictive too 😆
A few tips : be mindful of the landscape, an easy battle can turn into a nightmare if a ship see it's movement impeded by lands, cliffs,etc.. if you can alway try to wall in a lone ship against the coast, the AI have difficulty to navigate when cornered. Kite, kite, kite : recon the enemy fleet with icaros, try to see if there is possible reinforcements nearby, aggro the most isolated pentaconter or light trireme ( heavy trireme are so slow they can be quickly be reinforced by neighbotring ships). Pentaconters are bastards : a single isoletated Pentaconter is easy prey but in wolfpack they are lethal, and very ram happy, when supported by heavier ships get the sail out, the speed boost will allow to kite a few of them and finish them one at a time. Know when boarding : when you board a ship, the enemy ships stop shooting at you but they continue to move toward the Adrestia, potentially leaving you encircled by enemy ships. On the other hand a disabled ship can be used to impaire other ship since the ai while always move around disabled ship. When ramming if your not aiming for a weak point, always targe tthe rear, it will allow you to fire a few volley safetly. Elite ships are much more aggressive than their common counterpart, this can be useful when you need to isolate them.
I put in a ton of hours into blackflag and in using one of my main strategies from it in odyssey. Now, one thing ive noticed in odyssey is that your ship is way less " tankier" than in blackflag. As such, navel combat is way more strategic and defensive based. You pointed out some great tips but I have a pretty good strategy for any level. Fighting one on one is easy, 2 on 1 can be frustrating and on nightmare, 3+ is exactly that.....a nightmare. What I have learned is when fighting multiple ships, don't just rush in and engage. Get in view of them and park. Sit just outside their aggro range and watch their movements. Most often times, one ship will drift away. Use that to your advantage and attack that one. Second, and this may take practice but learn how to kite. What do I mean by kiting? Get the ship to chase you. While its behind you, you can angle your camera just enough to still be able to volley arrows.
One last thing, sorry my phone connection went caput, if you're just trying to get somewhere and catch aggro, travel speed and get away then come back and try to make it 1v1. Also, you can use stamina to quickly get away if you get in a bad situation. Ive had a few times where a mercenary would come out of nowhere, or an elite ship would happen by and aggro. You can use your stamina to get ahead and then immediately go into travel speed.
Huh, I tried kiting before but it didn’t seem to work out. Maybe there’s a finicky camera angle? Thanks for bringing this to light man I’m gona try and start kiting. I love the naval combat in the game. So much better than Black Desert Online lmao. If they put in Black Flag/Odyssey in to BDO man that game would 10x more fun lol.
After going through the perks, I didn't invest in naval battles until I reached Tier 4 on the mercenary ladder. That way all the upgrades were 40% cheaper (the perk) and hence I was able to save up and massively upgrade. Not sure how good a tip it is but it did help me when I first started playing
Ya Man I recently found this channel as well. It’s absolutely amazing. He has some good quality content and tips and tricks that are actually worth watching the entire video. Unlike some others. “HOW TO GET GEAR EASIER” “Kill people”.
Something i do when im about get rammed or i want to attack the enemy without letting them breath is i hold my X button (ps4) in order to basically power turn the ship for fast sharp turns. This helps when ur getting rammed cause if you turn ur ship in the same direction as the attack you decrease or even eat the damage.
It's kinda funny. You can see damage in the hundreds of thousands but the enemy ship health seems to go down the same way it used to when at level 20. You don't get that feeling of being a damage god even if you move up levels & spec for more & more damage since the enemy health also scales up. So all we are doing is just keeping up with it.
If it's an Athenian or Spartan ship that you are about to engage, try going travel speed into it to ram it (T-b,one it), then start the battle. If it's a Pentecoster, doing this will most times cleave it right away (if your ship is fully upgraded). Athenian and Spartan ships will wait until they are engaged (fired upon or rammed), so this works really well with them. Pirate ships you can sometimes do this. However, they notice you and try to fire upon you first. When using travel speed on a Pirate ship, this will at least let you immediately be at full speed when they notice, (warning sound - and white caution thing appears) and you can use that momentum rather than having to build up momentum with Rowers.
Whenever I hear the audio cue that I'm about to be rammed I always speed up, either going into travel mode or using stamina. This forces the ship that is trying to ram you towards the rear end of your ship, and when they start to get close you can turn towards them which swings the rear of your ship away from them. This effectively allows you to dodge enemy rams which is the game's biggest form of burst damage against you. Using this method you can easily avoid rams from the larger ships and consistently avoid rams from the smaller ships as well. Most woke naval maneuver in the game. Controlling your speed and positioning is also very next level. Getting an enemy ship positioned at your 5 or 7 o'clock and carefully controlling your speed and positioning will allow you to kite enemy ships indefinitely as you turn in slightly to fire and away to continue kiting. You can win against insane odds using this method and take virtually no damage. Also, very small thing: when using fire always aim toward the front of the enemy ship. The flaming projectiles actually leave aoe fire on the ocean surface and hitting the front of the enemy ship actually forces the enemy to stay in this aoe slightly longer causing increased fire build up.
I'd focus on hull upgrades, lieutenants that restore health and stamina when cleaving, and use ram + javelins as primary weapon. Most importantly, don't waste fire attacks on large ships, save them for pentaconters, which burn easily and are stunlocked by fire.
Thanks for the tips, I'll try to give some as well) Firstly, it's actually easy to get the lieutenants you need, simply knock out multiple legendary guys in one place, save, reload until you get the perks you're looking for. Second, concentrate on one damage type, pick lieutenants accordingly. Next, fire power per shot is a great perk, which allows you to quickly buildup adrenaline, which in turn gives more fire damage, dot, disables ships, it's great overall. I personally prefer javelin damage, as it's base is the highest, so all my lieutenants are: javelin damage + fire power per javelin shot + whatever.
The angle ships ram each other also affects the damage they do, with perpendicular hits doing the most damage. Making a T at the front of a ship is a good way to get rammed for maximum damage, while a T in the back is much safer.
JORDAN, THANK YOU SOO MUCH, i have wanted this video for the longest time. You have CONTINUED to Dish out A1 Content. yesterday, i FINALLY got to level 99. didn't think i would have so many hours invested into this game.... YOU sir have played a MAJOR part in this 100% Thanx again
I recommend going into the T Jordan showed and then JUMPING onto their ship, with a quick rush assassination and vanish combo you can practically cripple their damage output before returning back to your own ship
Got about 50 hours in this game now. And thank you, especially for the tip about seeing the fire damage timer. Had no idea you could see the build up and the timer for the duration
Go for the weakest enemy link and ram their ship as hard as you can then throw a barage of arrows and spears then never forget to board each ship that you nearly destroyed as it restores health, then work your way up to the link of the ships until you finally beat the toughest one.. killing the weakest link first will give you an easy route as you will not take that much damage as when you go for the elites first, as attacking ships with larger health will result in longer fighting time and the weaker ships with have the benefit of adding injury to your ship..
I usually take my ship close to them. Get off and jump on the enemy ships and killing everyone. Den go back to my ship and ram all the ships that are empty. U get alot more xp from killing them and sinking the ship. This works well if u just started or if ur ship isnt as good yet
A couple tips and tricks: I like to alternate my attacks between arrows and javelins, so I don't have to wait for the reload time on either. It's just a constant steady barrage. Also a super cool thing is that if you're at full sail, it's the same speed as when you're trying to ram. So if you want to save your rower stamina, and not in direct conflict yet, stay at full sail and just steer right into the enemy ship. It's the same damage, and you've saved your rowing stamina for positioning yourself
This is great. I spent 3 hours on NG+ nightmare trying to clear the Paros fleet 4-ship battle. Brutal man. Like we all one shot mercs and bosses but the naval combat is 10x harder.
I USE Ramming as a starter move and a finisher . you can cut the ships health 40 to 70% on ramming first . hitting the ship as close to 90 digrees for the best damage on a hit . and always try to use a disabled ship between you and other ships.
These ships were known for their rams so that’s exactly what I use. I’ll be doing circles around them enemy ships and constantly hitting them and bracing.
My personal combo if I have initiative is ram at high speed, 1-2 javelin volleys, then 3 arrow volleys. Then Brace and head away from enemy as they chase turn and loose fire arrows or javelins then head away again Fire 3 rapid arrow volleys head away, rinse and repeat works for me regardless of enemy level unless you get outnumbered in close proximity
I usually start my naval battle with ramming and followed by the flame thrower, if you are not in a multiship battle that would be a really fast way to destroy your enemy, and even if you drag yourself into a multiship battle that would be a good way to deal with one of your enemy really quick.
I wish there were mythical sea creatures too. Kinda fun to looking forward to it. Like Giant Sharks, Serpents or Kraken. Would be a fun Sea challenges. Kinda like the Origins God's Challenge, but its so boring when they all just stand tall and not moving.
Dude thank you soooo much for this. I used to be terrified of them pirate ships and naval missions. Shiid now I be out there hunting them fuckers down and attacking them on sight lol. Ship fully upgraded and found the perfect LTs.
My best naval tip. Bourd the ship don’t sink the ship.why? Helps you regain ship health. Upgrade that ship like no tomorrow. Everything you need to improved arrows to fire arrows. Use it! Take out ships one at a time . If you take out entire hordes of many other ships just bourd them and focus on one target.
Great tips, one other item that will help is using the dead stop and rowers to avoid incoming shots. It also helps to hit/disable vessels on their way into ram your ship so you easily obtain the T you spoke of.
The only strategy Im using is use your Sails to go around the enemy ship, . . . Sails makes you faster than rowing, rowing is on used for ramming to give you more damage, when you hear "ramming speed" you know that it is good, . . . But back to the strategy, go around the enemy ship , zigzag follow SPEARS ONLY, use flamming spears on the sails, it gives you critical chance somtimes, . . . But you need to unlock the weakpoint, when your ship is on the back enemy can't fire anything, . . . Remember to use your SAILS its FREE just push square button, . . . Using this , you can isolate one ship at a time, . . . When two or three ships were lure, always use INIATE BOARDING , TO CANCEL THE FURTHER DAMAGE , from enemy allied ships, . . . EASY , TO MASTER 😊👍
Hey man thanks for the video, new to the channel and game. Should I prioritise saving to upgrade my ship’s hull fully above all else or upgrade across all aspects as evenly as possible? Thanks in advance from the North East UK
So I'm on nightmare now and taking down the Skylla for the first time... I decided instead to use the isu forged assassin mace paired with the knife of dallwun (upgraded to level) then climbed aboard and 1 rush assassinate and you run through the entire ship in 1 fail swoop! :) SO much fun! That was a good tip about getting in a T position, I have yet to do that..
Good video, i do have the dlc. I just started the game I'm almost a level 30. One of my favorites that i found out last night is you can swim to a ship kill everyone when a fight starts you can use it has a health pack has you called it
Didn’t exactly learn anything new but it’s nice to see that you’re catering too newer players too instead of making high level builds How cool would it be if ship masteries would be a thing. Could add a whole new layer of naval combat. Great vid and keep up the good work! 🏴☠️
Once you have a ship set on fire and it is CCed you can use it as cover against other ships by positioning your ship so that the burning ship is between you and the ships trying to shoot you. With 2x +1 firepower at start of combat LTs you have enough firepower/adrenaline to set any ship on fire with the DLC flamethrower at full upgrades. After that I really like health or stamina refill after boarding or sinking.
Honestly my first Assassin's Creed was Blackflag so ive mastered this games waters without trouble. here's a tip for you: Have either the back or front of your ship face dead on at the enemy when they are at ramming speed. Doing so will minimize the damage from ramming
I've only just bought this game on xsx and my heart goes out to poor old ubisoft for every bad word and jaded review because this game is stunning. Evidence of the level of expertise these devs have achieved poors out of every moment of gameplay. Beautiful and amazing.
I sort of use a cheat by baiting ships to ram you, while hitting the incoming ships with projectiles, but hit Travel Speed when they get close to pull away. Repeat and rinse.
Recover ship's health after boarding perk from liutenants, be good at bracing, take distance and use arrow more, how to notice ramming type ships ? They will mostly try to ram ur ship all the time and will do it over and over again, how to deal with ramming ship ? Just circle around when the enemy ship also circle around after that the enemy ship will just continue to circle around so long u keep circling the enemy ship cant ram ur ship, not even once. Also boarding also give u more loots.
I find it very difficult to focus on one ship at a time sometimes. This is especially true when trying to do Naval Conquest Battles where as soon as you start off, you almost immediately have 4 or 5 ships all attacking you at once. My ship is just about full upgraded(don't have the flamethrower, but, I do want it. I'm just not sure how far in to the DLC it is before you can get it and I don't want to potentially ruin any of the later events in the game for myself), yet no matter what I try I cannot seem to win regardless of how many tips, tricks, and strategies videos I watch. I can't even take out one ship before I get taken out myself. It's honestly kind of annoying to me because I want to take out the rest of the Gods of the Aegean Sea, but, I'm having so much trouble with that particular branch.
Good tips, but I'm so useless on the sea. I had to beat Asterion at lv55 with difficulty changed to easy and I had to swim and board the three of his other ships before I could actually beat him 1v1 in a ship battle. I don't enjoy ship battles at all.
I felt the same way until I saw the Ben-Hur trireme battle really gave me sense of what naval combat would be like. Naturally ships won't explode but its so much fun. I usually rain arrows and javelin until they're immobilized, then I board
I have also noticed while triremes the big ships while tanky don't really do much damage while biremes the middle ships can with their 4 attacks and pentacounters because of their love for ramming.
I found that slowing down can help u evade rams and even position ur self, fund the play style u like (I go in strong and fast defeating enemys as fast as possible, also u restote health over time)
Ram first, then use your fire canons from the front of the ship while still t-boning them taking half of their power in one go....then veer to the direction you are naturally drifting hit a quick row then aim at the weak point.....hit it with normal arrows then a barrage of fire arrows power away with either oars or cruise mode, put the breaks on big time and turn at the same time you turn on the spot almost come back around and ram again...literally everything but the Mercs and epic ships are dead at this time. if you time it right they either split in half or are available for boarding. The mistake here is to destroy them keep them there ready to board so you can and attack other ships when you are getting low on health you go back to the ship that is ready to board, board it and regenerate the full health of your ship and you can take down anything left. Pretty straight forward really, but you need to just be prepared to take some initial damage
All uokes aside, I found it best to ram, then burn, once burned get yourself in front of the ship so they're stuck in one spot and they cant shoot their arrows or javelins or even ram into you..and you can just spam everything on them
Yo, bruh Any tips on a warrior heavy blunt/daggers build that is up to date? I just started the game and I'm on lvl 25. I like the assassination tree as a nice bonus but I think warrior game is more chaotic and still dinamic. Thx :)
For hiring lieutenants: I just discovered that whenever you find a mercenary, leader etc. with gold stats and let's say you don't want it, you can quick save before hiring him/her then load again until you are satisfied with the stats. You should be familiar what the icons represent if you've been playing for a while now.

Kinda like the Origins God's Challenge, but its so boring when they all just stand tall and not moving.
FOR REAL
Ramming then javelin, repeat
most efficient method
Dude thank you soooo much for this. I used to be terrified of them pirate ships and naval missions. Shiid now I be out there hunting them fuckers down and attacking them on sight lol. Ship fully upgraded and found the perfect LTs.
My best naval tip.
Bourd the ship don’t sink the ship.why? Helps you regain ship health.
Upgrade that ship like no tomorrow.
Everything you need to improved arrows to fire arrows.
Use it!
Take out ships one at a time .
If you take out entire hordes of many other ships just bourd them and focus on one target.
So awesome! There was a lot of stuff I didn't know and I'm not exactly a noob, so thanks a ton Jordan!
No problem!
Excellent video my friend! Really, really helped me! 👍🏻🏴☠️
Thanks, gonna try that.
Thanks for vid aswell 👍
Thank you for the tips.
I'm not very good at video games, but i'm trying. Thanks again.
Thank you for this. It helped me level up my naval game.
I just got this game super late and let's just say your tips are gonna save my back. I've been binge watching every tip video. Any more obvious tips?
When u sink the ship you can get chests at the bottom of the sea BUT ull need breathing perk underwqter most of the time cuz they sink very deep :-)
Love the Naval Health pack tip, I'll be using that. Cheers.
Good video, i do have the dlc. I just started the game I'm almost a level 30. One of my favorites that i found out last night is you can swim to a ship kill everyone when a fight starts you can use it has a health pack has you called it
As always keep the grind up bro, love you jordan and thank you
Thanks man!
Lol I'm on normal and I have trouble with ships. 😂

Helpful and understandable Guide. Great Job!
Didn’t exactly learn anything new but it’s nice to see that you’re catering too newer players too instead of making high level builds
How cool would it be if ship masteries would be a thing. Could add a whole new layer of naval combat.
Great vid and keep up the good work! 🏴☠️
wow, i learned a decent amount and i've been playing the game for 250+ hours. know one EVER talks about naval combat
I hate the ship thing. Put it on easy whenever I have to. Your video did help alot thanks.
Yeah I feel you. I am not perfect. Ive cheesed a naval fight and dropped the difficulty to easy before.
THANX
i had no idea what i was doing before this
amazing detailed vid
hope you make more of these
I've only just bought this game on xsx and my heart goes out to poor old ubisoft for every bad word and jaded review because this game is stunning.
DUDE YOUR AMAZING FOR ALL OF THESE TIPS MAN
Thanks Seth!
You have a lot of nice builds but i have question, what deck have biggest damage per second posible as warrior and as Hunter?
Recover ship's health after boarding perk from liutenants, be good at bracing, take distance and use arrow more, how to notice ramming type ships ? They will mostly try to ram ur ship all the time and will do it over and over again, how to deal with ramming ship ? Just circle around when the enemy ship also circle around after that the enemy ship will just continue to circle around so long u keep circling the enemy ship cant ram ur ship, not even once. Also boarding also give u more loots.
Thank you, this was very easy to understand!
Excellent video. I thought I knew it all and learned a few things.
Great video and great tips! Keep up the good work!
once frustrated, i swim and board the ship
If you turn the difficult up do you get more Xp does anyone know?
One thing about the fire on ships is that the buildup can quickly disappear.
Great stuff! Health packs, I love it. Genius idea. I've been getting my butt kicked on the water, this will help. Very detailed, nice job.
Yeah that can be a real struggle :\
I just board all of the ships and either take em all on or assassinate them one by one.
After 20 attempts i killed that fker at level 19
I felt the same way until I saw the Ben-Hur trireme battle really gave me sense of what naval combat would be like. Naturally ships won't explode but its so much fun. I usually rain arrows and javelin until they're immobilized, then I board
I have also noticed while triremes the big ships while tanky don't really do much damage while biremes the middle ships can with their 4 attacks and pentacounters because of their love for ramming.
I found that slowing down can help u evade rams and even position ur self, fund the play style u like (I go in strong and fast defeating enemys as fast as possible, also u restote health over time)
How do u use the fire arrows
I also use open sails for speed, positioning and keep a safe distance from enemy arrows
I got an question in other thread - Athens Wall run - how to respawn those soldiers after I clear the whole wall?
You may have to clear a region or give it a bit of time. I don't know what exactly controls reseting soldiers, but I know they do eventually.
Raczek I just fast travel to a different region, then just run around for a few minutes and fast travel back
Cleaving ships in half is so satisfying.
Excellent tutorial, will rewatch once I get a ship lol!
Great video, thank you! I suck at naval battles
very helpful video man, thanx!
This really helped man thanks
nice work for the old dog thanks
Amazing guide! Thank you!!! Subscribing.
What tips & tricks have you guys used to make Naval fights easier on Nightmare?
For Me it’s attacking withdrawing to heal and going back in
I'm struggling so much on money and resources I'm using your methods and im only getting 10k every hour or so is that good?
itsJordanDoes I ram and then burn with the flamethrower
Idk but can you make a crit build for level 60 through 70
I recently noticed how to focus the arrow shots which helped me a lot even though I’ve been a pro at the game. Noob mistake
Great guide Jordan. Subbed for more.
Level 99! Woah! That's beyond sick!
Your videos help me a lot, keep it up :)
Thanks I was interested in seeing this video!
Cheers mate, helped me plenty!
The ship you have in the video how can i find it?
All uokes aside, I found it best to ram, then burn, once burned get yourself in front of the ship so they're stuck in one spot and they cant shoot their arrows or javelins or even ram into you..and you can just spam everything on them
Which skin is on the ship on the Thumbnail? Looks incredible
A big help is to get to tier 4 of the mercanery list to get a 50% discount for upgrades, I think..... but it's very helpful
Great Stuff, thanks for sharing.
Great tips Jordan thanks!
Yo, bruh
Any tips on a warrior heavy blunt/daggers build that is up to date?
I just started the game and I'm on lvl 25. I like the assassination tree as a nice bonus but I think warrior game is more chaotic and still dinamic. Thx :)
For hiring lieutenants: I just discovered that whenever you find a mercenary, leader etc. with gold stats and let's say you don't want it, you can quick save before hiring him/her then load again until you are satisfied with the stats. You should be familiar what the icons represent if you've been playing for a while now.
Interesting, this is good to know.
