I am a gig driver that mostly uses instacart to make some money, this has been my full time job for almost a year, and I have learned alot over that short period of time. Hoping to share tips and advice with you all!

The fact someone would use a delivery app so they don’t have to shop themselves then pull the tip from the driver that shopped for them is wild ! Spark has to fix that.
It depends on why the tip was pulled. Some people view tips as a thank you for providing great service. Others think its an obligation.
@@TerresaPortal Tips are what is paying for gas, without it wouldn't have accepted the offer. I can understand taking some back if driver was rude or something, but if take it all, you may as well be robing the driver.
@@johnzome788 I drive for Spark and 99% of what I make isn’t coming from tips. I couldn’t care less if I get tipped. I shoot for the $35 trip incentives I take all of the trips I can because it adds up at the end of the week and my math says tips are chump change.
One of my customers was disabled and couldnt get out to do his own shop. He didn't tip me and I dont care. For all I know he needs all of his money to live. The delivery fee and the driver incentives are more valuable to me. I'm mot going to go stupid over two bucks. I made $150 in two days and two dollars of that was tips. I really enjoyed the $54 pick up and delivery I got yesterday. If gas is a problem, put injector cleaner and octane booster in the tank when you fill up. I keep my fuel system clean so my gas milage is low. I drove 30 miles last night and barely cracked the top of the tank. You have to be a creative problem solver to do this job.
@@TerresaPortal I like helping people too, but you are dead wrong, he is saying these people should not tip bait us so we take the order and then take the money away, that should not even be an OPTION to take money away. I am not going to LOOSE money doing work. I take an order only if it is worth my time and gas and car repairs, if the person takes the tip away I could possibly be in the hole, so i did all the work for free and possibly actually LOSE money working lol! No thanks. It is not fair, and it IS legal robbery.
You CAN contact during a shop and deliver order. I do it all the time for substitutions.

Waiting time after check in and low or no tips and then having to wait 24 hrs for confirmed tips
Worst part of Spark I have found is customers you can tell are paying with Food Stamps or EBT. No tip at all and tons of groceries and usually to an apartment that is going up 3 flights of stairs to deliver to and they give you bad reviews just cause they feel like it seems.

I waited two years and got approved in the summer , right on time because Ubereats is paying shit to drivers so I just focus on spark now .

RRs come at anytime for me. Usually, whenever I sign on, my 1st delivery is a RR. I've gotten them @ :11, :20, :35, &:55.
I’ve contacted customers during a shop. I believe they initiated convo during substitution but definitely during the shop
Yep you have to have scanned your first or shopped your first item but after that you absolutely can communicate with them via text through the whole shop
How much do you tip a driver? Is it a percentage of the amount you paid or a flat tip? I’m getting ready to have surgery and I don’t think I’m going to be getting around so much for the next couple of months so I’m looking to start using this service. My house is pretty easy to get to since I live within a mile of Walmart and there’s no crazy stairs or hills to climb to drop it off at my front door. I’ve never used any delivery service outside of the post office or Amazon, so this is new to me.
I always tip 20% if the driver is good, just like at a restaurant. If the service is poor, the tip is less.

great tips. Just to let someone know you do not have to set up a branch account. you can use your normal bank account or branch and get paid weekly or you can get paid per trip too using One pay. also when waiting to be accepted dont wait for an email or a text. log in the site daily until accepted. I never got any acceptance email and had I been waiting for that id still be waiting... also really pay attention to the details of the offers cause some of these literally pay so bad it could cost us money to do the delivery. I cannot believe you took a 80 item Shop order. thats insane I don't think I could do that. I shop slow.
A lot of my big orders they usually have me shopping produce and freezer food first , is there anyway to skip an item and come back to it at the end so your getting the refrigerated/frozen items last ?

I just started spark, and I signed up for direct deposit to my bank account and it worked, I didn’t need to sign up for branch, it went straight into my bank account.
Hi found your video very useful. I have a question about curbside orders. Does the delivery driver go into Walmart and shop for the items and then meet the customer inside the parking lot? Or does a Walmart employee do the shopping?
For Curbside, Walmart employees pick the orders and Spark drivers (and other app platforms) pick them up from curbside and deliver them. Express orders are the only orders that Spark drivers go in and shop the order and then deliver the order.
If it's curbside the employee shop for you but if you do a express shopping the spark driver shop for you
Have you ever gone to a store to do an in-store pickup or even just picking up at curbside and been told that someone else already picked up the order?

I just learned that one of the Walmarts in area wants drivers to stay in the car while we wait for them to load the. Car I never had a problem with that Walmart before n I did cancel one order cause the Walmart was very rude to me
Walmart wasn’t rude the humans that were doing the job were rude.
So a spark driver does the shopping also? Do you just wait at a walmart parking lot for an order to roll in or wait inside?

After a 7 month waiting list, I was finally excepted to Spark. I like it, but two things really bother me. Two things that I have not seen covered by anyone. 1. 50% of the time I arrive at the destination, I have to slide the arrived button anywhere from 15 to 30 times because the dumb ass app will keep arguing with me all the time. You would think the app would be smarter then to keep arguing with me over and over. 2. I'm pretty much always skipped over at load outs for curb side. This morning was a great example. I arrive and I'm the only driver there. After 10 minutes 2 more drivers come in and park, then 2 more after 20 minutes. All 4 drivers were loaded out and left on their deliveries, while I was still waiting for a load. This fkn crap happens ALL the time to me.
I'm always nice and I always get out to help load, so IDK why this keeps happening to me?

Are you calling the number on the pick up sign to let them know you are there? I started yesterday confused as all hell. I called the number that came up on my phone, matched it to the number on the pick up sign in my parking space and called to let them know I was there. Someone came out 5 mins later
they probably accepted the orders while you were out delivering that one
I have noticed this too but realize that they don't want you getting too early so that you are not delivering earlier than the customer requested.
Hmm I usually start sparking from inside my house , I live like 15 min away, I always start my trip and follow the gps instructions there but I never realized that could impact the timing of the trip ?

Ok 1st thing you said that we can't do ... Contact the customer during a shop and deliver....um how do we contact them to ask them about a substitution for an item??? I've had full conversations with customers while I'm buzzing around a store shopping for their items.
It’s recently changed. At the time of making the video they didn’t have a chat box yet.
Yeah, there should be a message button in the app where you can text the customer.
You can message them during the shopping if any questions about their orders.
I work on these apps full time. They have to be a bit more regulated. I got deactivated recently. How can these apps deactivate people without suspension, warning, or reason??? It is ridiculous!!!
#5 Do you scan all frozen items at once just before leaving the store, then?
That’s one way of doing it. Only time I’ve had issues is for massive orders. 50+ items. Sometimes even bell peppers are a “perishable item” since they are refrigerated so I’ll grab them and scan them when I get closer to dairy.
You can shop off the preview shopping list then scan all the items once in your cart so the timer doesn’t start until your finished shopping
I'm new. How do you pay for there orders. Do we use a card
I'm disabled I'm not able to take the heavy ones. Well I still make money? What I mean is I cannot do heavy lifting because of my back. I had scoliosis, sciatica neuropathy. They're in at this fine osteoartbrightest oh, I'm stuff. Like I can't take an order that has cases and cases of water and stuff like that unless I have a helper, I can't do it. Does it let you see what's in the order? I've only really ever done doordash. Like well I know if it's a heavy order or not?
You can quickly scroll through the order and see the items before accepting it.

@@aphidcart Just a question, I see Walmart has contractors for people who deliver bigger items like tvs in their vans. Does Walmart have a policy for being a contractor in more ways than one? Amazon doesn’t allow you to do flex if you are an employee in some other department.
I was able to chat with the customer while I was shopping for them. So maybe they changed it since this video was made.
#3...You have to call Support to call the customer during a shop & delivery for questions on replacements.
Wow didn’t know they could do that! I’ve called them before on 1 item orders for replacements and they just drop the order.

This must have changed since a year ago…I’m fairly new to spark but I am able to talk to the customer now as I shop by hitting the chat bubble in the top right of the app during the shop.
the customer will get whatever is available for substitute and I’m moving on to the next.
Support not only doesn't know whats going on, they are outsourced from the Philippines and do not ever help. I explained I was driving and the laws in California regarding touching my phone and asked them to hang up. They refused and stayed on the phone harassing me. I told them to stop being stupid and hang up the phone. Eventually I got them to hang up but they canceled my completed order trying to steal my pay and then terminated my account. I have appealed this and explained it to spark but when I did the same person from the Philippines named Christian called my personal number to rub it in saying, "deactivated dummy" and hung up on me. All my ratings were good and I never had any problems with any customer or Walmart associate. This one passive aggressive POS in the Philippines is preventing me from working. Do not call support. So many companies use the Philippines call centers and it is the same problems I have on every platform that uses them. I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars I have lost due to the incompetence of the support team in the Philippines across several apps over the past 7 years.

When you pick up curbside it will have you scan a sticker. That's the sticker he's talking about.
when the orders come out more than 10 min thats considered late. but im only getting. 70 cents not $2.50.😂
I have spark, haven't started because I don't like the weekly payout part. I like being able to cash out when I want to.

It’s actually not bad when you’re multi-apping.. spark isn’t consistent. But it definitely pays better (in my opinion and in my area) per mile and for my time, Better than any other app.. so it’s nice to let that $ build up a bit and then get it every Tuesday. While still making $ with instant payouts on other apps in between

Yeah that’s my least favorite part. The order is clearly ready, the customer could get their stuff faster and we could do more orders per hour and make more money if they fixed this.
