    Crazy to see how age really gets to you. We all saw him get rocked in the College Scrimmage. In his PRIME though, they called him The Rocket for a reason. He had a ton of rotation on his fastball and when he put them up in the zone at 96-97, they were real hard to get around on.

    I loved Clemens when he was with the Red Sox . He was my favorite player of all time. I still play and it would be amazing to catch him or simply stand in the box with a bat as he pitched. What a thrill that would be.

    Perfect example of how to use your full body to generate power. He looks like he's barely trying, and producing sold velocity because of how well he utilizes his whole body in his pitching.

    The reason guys from that era could throw so many complete games is that it was so much a full body effort. It is today too, to an extent. But guys today have such a violent arm snap to attempt to get more velocity. Players now not only rarely throw complete games, but they have a much shorter shelf life. You can see how much it was all body with Clemens, as he looks like he's barely trying here and still hitting 80.

    • @jayss10
      @jayss10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That and everybody is so damned worried about spin rate. Who gives a crap? Great pitchers were great because they excelled at their particular style. With Clemens (and Johnson too) you had that nasty heat to contend with coupled with their wicked offspeed stuff. Glavine and Maddux were the complete opposite. They wouldn't overpower you, but they would force you to harmlessly put the ball into play.

I want this man in the HOF so badly I'd pay for it. Nothing but accusations towards his use of PEDs and even a not-guilty verdict of him lying on the stand about it. Still not in. I hope before I die, one day he gets invited. I had a chance to meet Roger in Baltimore and I got to throw a single ball at him and even to this day is a top 5 highlight of my life.

    God is so good. No matter what happens in life, He has a plan better than anything we can imagine. He is working all things out for our good, even when we don’t understand why some things happen the way they do. Don’t lose faith, keep trusting and believing in Him. God isn’t done with you, keep fighting the good fight. Be a blessing to someone today. God bless. Do you know Jesus as your Lord and savior? It’s the best decision you can ever make, and at the end of the day, it’s the ultimate decision we have to make. This life is only temporary. Eternity is forever. Do you know where you will spend eternity? God bless. God is so good.

    ESPN reported that his fastball recently hit 87 mph, which is very good for a 50 year old pitcher. I think his comeback attempt may depend on if he's still good with his off speed pitches. If his changeup is still better than average, he has a shot. He may have to develop some new pitches, like a knuckleball.
    Imagine Roger Clemens throwing a knuckleball. I'd be a little surprised if he starts throwing one. But if he can pitch a great knuckleball, he could be in the majors until age 60.
