Hi Monroe! There is a short documentary on youtube called: "Elvis a Generous Heart". You won't believe how generous this man was. He loved to give to people. He was the most generous person I have ever heard of.

I heard all kinds of stories of Elvis fighting racism. He was a huge fan of MLK. He also had those back up singers that he stood up for when some racist Hotel owner wouldn’t let them stay at the hotel with him. “If they don’t stay here, I don’t stay here.”

  • @primategaberocco

James Brown was the first entertainer to arrive at Graceland, to see lifeless Elvis, and he wept for hours beside Elvis's body weeping "why did you leave me Elvis?". He didn't call Elvis his soul brother for nothing.

I think James Brown being a troubled soul, understood Elvis's pain. Just a thought.

The song playing at the end was "if I can dream" it's almost impossible to feel the love from that song and not shed a tear. He did it on National Television during super tense times when making a statement like that wasn't simply a virtue signal

Elvis was the exact opposite of a racist. He was a Christian, so he knew that all human beings are created equal in God's eyes. He was extraordinarily generous and always went out of his way to make others feel accepted and comfortable. 99.9% of what Elvis did for others will never be known (in this world) because he didn't want it publicized. Why? Again, his faith.

Unfortunately for some that's what sets them off that someone could be in a position to do that. It's usually Jealousy and envy that drive them to be so negative. Not that I don't understand it because while the older white folks were denigrating him, the younger ones would later crown him King for something that some black folks invented.

Didn’t even know there was a part 2. I’m not an Elvis fan beyond the songs that everyone knows but this is dope as fuck as far as unity. We need that today. The left and the right are equally horrible but maybe one day people recognize they aren’t slaves to what their families think, or to guns or the environment. Whatever it is. We’re gonna get back to America eventually and this is hope!

I love the fact that Elvis refused to perform in any venue where racism existed. He worshiped black performers and preachers.....he LOVED their enthusiasm and upbeat choirs. He covered many different white, black and hispanic artist's songs, but because he brought out black artist's music, white people started buying their future songs and Motown (my favorite oldies) became famous. Elvis broke that barrier and made it cool to listen to music and eventually attending concerts of black artist. I really hate the lies told by some about how Elvis stole their music and their style of dressing and performing. He didnt steal it, he promoted it....biggest form of flattery!!

"We loved Elvis and Elvis loved us." (Shake Rag receives it's Mississippi Blues Trail Mark @430). 150 years Tupelo's-Shake Rag. Shake Rag demo in 15mnts is a good one (they may have taken it down, for some reason.) Jackie Wilson's interview or Bobby Wilson talks about his father Jackie Wilson's relationship with Elvis Presley interview is another good one.

This is the first time I'm hearing about this so called rumor and it really struck something in me to comment here. The first time I heard about Elvis being racist is from that Public Enemy record, but I never bothered digging into it. The cord that was struck in me though is the fact that this has been used so many times throughout the years to try to get artists, entertainers canceled (so to speak). Lauren Hill came to mind first but she wasn't the only one. Jealousy is often a big motivating factor behind these things like I'm sure it was with Elvis, and it's still happening these days.

  • @jayviviano109
    @jayviviano109 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Just FYI - on the peanut butter banana sandwiches - the way Elvis grew up eating them from his mother was she simply mashed up the peanut butter and bananas together on a plate and spread the mix straight on to the bread, then dropped it in the buttered skillet, was a whole lot easier and faster.
All those extra steps involved is what Mary & Elvis' father came up with years later
A lot of people don't realize Elvis was used to having them prepared two different ways.
Neither one is wrong, they both taste good and Elvis liked Mary's the way Mary came up with years later.
But just pointing this out a lot of people out there still don't know that there are different ways to make these.
I prefer the easier way ...the way Elvis' mother used to make them.
    Taste awesome
Anyway, Great reaction. It's sad because I know many of people over the decades went to their graves thinking Elvis was a hater. They didn't know about stuff like what's revealed in this video.
Once people get past all that misinformation though then they're able to start appreciating him more as an artist.
(Plus there's a whole lot of other similar stories out there not even on these videos.)
    Yeah your channel exploding.

What Chuck D actually says - should anyone bother to ask him or check the facts - is that what he actually disliked was Elvis’ "culture-blurring genius". This is because it happened to play into the hands of a racist music industry that, at the time, was hungry for a white artist who could play black music. Chuck D in fact agrees & says that, "Elvis was a door, a gateway through to the roots. In the beginning of his career Elvis admitted where the roots came from, but did anybody care?"

I read during Elvis's funeral James Brown sat in the room with Elvis before his funeral started for 4 hours and sobbed. They were very very close. Elvis Loved James and the feeling was mutual! The song I can Dream was about the death of Martin Luther King. Elvis was a lot of things but a Racist he was Not and I beg to differ but even Michael Jackson couldn't compare to Elvis. He was big for pop in his time but Elvis was on a whole other level with Rock and Roll. Although both are legends Elvis is hands down the King! I'm sure some won't agree but everybody is entitled to there own opinion.

MISSING..... These 2 videos (Elvis & community) are a good look at just that part (blues). * * But just like the Elvis Biography Trailer, we are led to believe that he only emerged from the Blues. This is seriously wrong.
// There needs to be a documentary, explaining how Country Music & the Blues were fused together for the first time by Elvis, and how both genres is what created the final dominant version of Rock.
Elvis had deep Country Music roots, folks like Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Jimmie Rodges; then there is his Bluegrass influences like Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe
Lets not forget the Gospel aspect, which was not covered in the movie beyond minority churches. He first met JD Sumner & the STamps Gospel Quartet when he was 14 years old. This music was also a major influence on Elvis at the all night church sings he attended.
But MOST OF ALL Elvis desperately wanted to be a Pop Crooner of ballads, like his Biggest Influence of All Dean Martin as well as Bing Crosby. you can hear the similarities in their voices.

One illness from childhood was a sleeping disorder. He walked in his sleep and had horrible nightmares. Also, after concerts his adrenalin was so high that it took 6 hrs for him to calm down. Needing sleep to do the next day high energy show, he took sleeping pills. To no be groggy he took pills. Millions of people have this medical condition and take pills. Without sleep, we die. He did not die from any overdose. There were subtherapeutic drugs in his system when he died. He died from a heart attack caused by a colon issue from childhood, called valsavar maneuver. He had a virus which killed nerves in his colon. The official cause of death is heart attack. Two autopsies ruled heart attack. This drug myth is a bunch of lies told by non medical, ill meaning so called friends who proved to be disloyal after his death. So many lies around Elvis. Be careful at what you believe. Elvis and anyone else deserves the truth be told.

I don't know of any white artist (50's, 60's, 70's) who had so many black artist friends or such a large fan base among the black population. everyone who has met elvis presley personally (many of them black artists and fans) say that elvis loved black culture. anyone who says otherwise is an idiot or a liar.
