I sat in a forest and would hear the birds sing. I was cut down so Jimmy could make things. I felt his hands push and pull. I just thank God I'm not a salad bowl.
Listening to the podcast it really made me think about being too precious with wood. I have a variety of small pieces that I'm saving for the king's shoes that I realized that I should probably just use up. Great build.
I did this just 2 days ago with some mahogany that I had prepped for another project... a couple of years ago that didn't get off the ground, and I was like, "but it's mahogany" and then I looked at my STACK of reclaimed mahogany I've got (quite a lot) and I was like "yeah yeah ok ok - fine I'll use it and prep more IF I ever get around to doing that project".
"Saving for the king's shoes" What a great phrase. Am currently sitting on about a dozen 10 & 8/4 slabs (accumulated over a while) that I've been saving for something special. I guess I should try to make something special then.
".....You're not gonna cut up that piece of walnut for that are ya ? " ..Fantastic as always!
As a person who works in the field of renovation and carpentry, I must say that you are wonderful, you have excellent and practical explanations, practical techniques and skills, and you are also a creative person. Every time I watch you, I enjoy working in this field and seeing people like you.
I love your approach to projects. I'm an illustrator, and at this point with enough projects under my belt, I don't like to overplan from the beginning so I can let whatever I am doing become what it needs to.
Моё глубокое уважение. Стул на тысячу лет..
I think you nailed it, Brother!!❤
That’s one fine stool any artist wood be proud of!!💪🏼👍🏼
Sam Maloof loved the wood and always waited until the design called for that piece of wood to be used... Other times he designed the piece to fit the wood ... You picked the right man to inspire your design here. Great work.
Incredible build. I like how you used the disc sander to get those flat joints. Really good lesson in how to stay free in the build. That total boat looks awesome. The boots are incredible too. Hopefully Carolina gets a chance to film some live sessions with it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥👊✊💪🤠
Another great build that will be here for over a century inspiring people
I love how you design on the fly with the "instructions" in your head! That stool is amazing! Double H is getting a masterpiece!
Sam Maloof could be proud of this stool, thanks for sharing !
To quote Jim Carrey: B-E-A-Utiful!
Love it! I was reminding me of Sam Maloof
A few days ago I thought I'd try my hand at building a stool, nothing like this but just to make something different.
I love using the cut offs from large table legs to make smaller side tables.
Damn that is clean!! Great job, Jimmy!
Beautiful, looks great. Love the lines.
Absolutely love the chunky, organic lines of this stool. Awesome work. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Gorgeous!!! Dude, was hoping to see it in the space it will live!!! ah well. Beautiful work.
Fine work Jimmy! Looks stellar. I meant to tell you in-person last weekend.
You are a master fabricator the stool is awesome and once again a very interesting and enjoyable video.
It's always great to hear when you're really happy with a project.
Beauty! I have a chunk of hickory and you have me thinking... Those U-haul felt blankets make for a great sound deadener/insulation. Myself and my Wife gutted an 86 VW Jetta and the old insulation/sound deadener was shot. A Neighbor up the hill had a few of those blankets that he gave to us.
Beautiful stool! I love the classic Walnut wood! Nice craftsmanship as always Jimmy! Well done .
That looks really good. That's a solid stool for sure that's never going to break.
I thought it also looked really good before you took the palm sander to it, with all the lines and slight divots from the wood carving disc. Gave it a raw look.
But it's also beautiful the way you did it.
Amazing, your projects are always inspiring for a hobbiest like myself.
I can fully understand the initial apprehension! Finished piece looks so good. Thank you for showing and narrating your process.
My favourite project you have done. Simple is elegant
Beautiful. I love the natural "grown" look of the legs.
As allways, will not settle for les then "for ever" quality..😂, awesome jimmy, awesome.
Nice work! Love the phantom logo.
Yeah the stool is cool but... That goddamn bandsaw is awesome. Every time I see you running tree trunk sized wood through that massive beast I smile like a little kid seeing Santa Claus. God bless Jimmy DiResta and his bandsaw collection ❤️💛💚
You were hurting me cutting into the walnut Jimmy.
I remember cutting a walnut block i had for over 20 years.
Love your old bar clamps. I have several old ones like those. Not to flashy but sturdy enough. ClampOn
Excellent craftmanship, Jimmy! Definitely one to be proud of.
Looks fantastic as always Jimmy.
That's freaking sweet Jimmy! Hard to beat the figure of walnut🎉
Stellar stool. Well done.
Beautiful work! I love that you always push yourself to do things that are outside your comfort zone.
You're a talented guy who knows his strengths and weaknesses and his tools! I sculpt my furniture projects and use the tools I know. Was thinking about the 1 inch blade for cutting ( new) lol! Great "on the run" pattern making. Always good to hear you discuss the mental process. I always quote you about learning on the first piece. Then I hope I can remember it! LOL!
Beautiful stool.
Jimmy, you are an inspiration. Thank you!
Thank you!
Incredible work on that sculpted stool Jimmy! Really awesome logo as well! Double H Boots' hired the right person to do that job! BRAVO! 👍👍👏👏
master of free design at work 👌
That is a gorges stool. It will support many great pickers in its existance. This is what we all hope for, to build things that last. Not disposable junk!
Love and respect back to you, thanks for sharing this project with us🤗😎🤗😎
Awesome build! And thank you for the introduction to the chain saw attachment to the circular saw. I need one.
Beautiful Job Jimmy
Very impressive stool.
It's no pair of shoes for a king, but it does look pretty slick. Love the soft flowing lines. Looks very comfortable! Thanks for sharing!
Great Result Jimmy, loving the organic feel of this stool, thanks for sharing your feelings while doing this, it's a great help to know that someone with your skill and experience can still feel intimidated and be anxious about committing before starting a challenging project with a beautiful piece of timber !
I love the solid look. .awesome only thing I would have suggested is elongated holes in the stool so the seat could expand and contract with moisture changes and not split the seat😊 (but I'm no expert that is for sure) great job!
Perfect timing dude. I want to make a guitar stool for myself. Thanks for sharing your process 🤙
It’s a joy to watch you work on the bandsaw. Love that American.
So cool Jimmy!
Beautiful stool
Another amazing piece 👍🏻
Looks amazing what a great build Thanks as always for sharing your experience and talent with us all Jimmy.

Wow , thats one strong built, awesome looking stool , excellent work
Awesome!
Everything you make is COOL!
👍🏼Sam probably would’ve got a kick outta that usable art Beauty✊🏼🌳
That's a piece you'd love to see in your living room. I'm sure Phantom Rider were very pleased with the result!
stunning ❤
Great inspiration. Thanks Jimmy
Incredible job!
I just took my second tour through Sam Maloofs house in Ca. The amount of work on his property is amazing. Some of his joints are near invisible. Some have been worked to showcase the joint itself, drawing attention to it. There is still a storeroom filled with walnut there but good choice woods were hard to come across even then. The local lumber store, Petersons, would contact him when they received a particularly good shipment.
Looks awesome. Well done!
Awesome job as always
It looks great!!!
What a beautiful piece of work!!
Simple but beautiful, awesome work!
Fantastic work
Good, solid stool. For screws one can also use the beeswax trick, works well.
Great work. Always look forward to your videos.
Beautiful!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING JIMMY!!! That’s a real beauty. Love the engraving.
Sooo cool! Beautiful work, Jimmy!!
❤️❤️❤️
Amazing work!
In a word..... SWEET!! Nicely done Jimmy. Thank you sir.
Thanks for telling us your thought process. It really helps.
Definitely Sam Maloof inspired! Very nice.
Great build as usual!
I think it would be well worth making another one - this chunky one will look great in a show room, and a stool from thinner stock would work really well at home.
Excellent result. One to be very proud of Jimmy.
That is amazing, nice job 👌
❤❤ incredible build. Looks beautiful
I bet that, if this medium existed back then, Michelangelo would have voiced the same reservations when chipping into a block of marble.
As always, everything is very cool. Awesome
