- After some weeks of demotivation, I found some joy by making small and simple projects.
Sometimes, we just need to get back to basics. :)

I miss your videos. Happy to see you back!
I remember i used to watch your vids at the very beginning of your carreer here on youtube (probably before the first anniversary). I now see you've reached almost 1M folowers. Congrats.👌
Ah yes the old swan push stick you showed a long time ago. We all go through motivation valleys at times, and sometimes we just need to take a step back, find something small to work on, and run with it. Smaller "fun projects" with old scraps are sometimes what we need to get the creative juices flowing. Great job on the boards!
The care you take in using glue is refreshing. You have the bare minimum of squeeze out and I cannot remember seeing you have drips off the wood. Other makers could and should take a lesson from you
once in a while an easy no thinking needed project is what the mind needs to get back in gear. nice boards too!
Don’t give up on the 25mm board just yet - I have a 6 year old test board I made from construction wood (radiata pine, 90x35mm) and it bows a little with the seasons, but I leave it upside down on the kitchen bench occasionally and it sorts itself out 👍🇦🇺 Another very enjoyable video. Thanks 😃
I have an oszilating spindle sander in my shop, it is exaclty as you said it: I use it very rarely, but when I use it, I am happy to have it. It is the cheap one, everybody has. Its fine.
Great color choices! Who would have thought that gray-ish walnut could be so wonderfully effective when combined with the cherry and maple. Great job, Kris.
I found getting small projects, typically shop fix-up or jigs, helps me get more excited for the craft thru seeing a progression of small wins.
Also, you're getting SO CLOSE to 100K subs. Let that motivate you too.
Omg, I thought about commenting yesterday to say I missed your vids. 😊
Oh I like the chamfer on the organic board - I think it's a nice juxtaposition.
All three are beautiful, and really make me want to make a cutting board for my next project! Thanks for the impetus! :D
MAGNIFICENT WORKWOMANSHIP!!!!
Here I am again. I really like this channel, even without tools to do whatever, FOR NOW!
Beautiful work!
Is so good to see you making stuff again, dear Cristiana!
Good to see you back Cris.
What I love about watching you, is how well you explain what you are doing and why you are doing it that way.
I have a spindle sander. It's one of those tools that you don't need until you do. to be honest, I hardly use it, but I"m not at your level of skill.
I don't have a drum sander. I don't need one , but I really want one.
Nice to meet you again Cris!
I say "meet" because seeing you is the same as meeting you.
And I'm happy about that.
Yay!! So glad to see you back
Nice that more people than me will be able to own a gorgeous cutting board created by you! ❤️👏 Great work as always!
Delighted to see a new video from you.
nice to see work from you again, motivation is a demon that can be nasty at some times, i bought a spindle sander and i love it so much faster and widely fursitaile plus you keep your drill stand in good order they don't like side pressure to much
Great to have you back! We all have ups and downs to our confidence and drive.
You are such a talented person. I’m really impressed. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us! ❤
I use a spindle sander on almost every piece. really enjoy watching your videos, hope all is well
Stunning cutting boards, Cris! Truly amazing work!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great timing of this inspirational video. I just finished (1 hour ago) 3 cutting boards, 2 with end-grain and 1 with straight boards. I like to mix paduk, zebrawood, walnut, and maple. End-grain zebrawood is very dynamic but maple pieces are better looking if they are straight. Paduk and walnut (not usually together) are great for color but their grain can be uninteresting.
Glad to see you back - I've missed your excellent videos!
Absolutely get a drum sander! You would use it more than you think. It’s so easy to change sizes and grits and replacement sanding discs are not too expensive. You don’t need a really expensive one. Look at Rigid or one in that price range.
Nice piece of wood 👍👍👏👏
Hope you have some motivation back! Just discovered your channel and subscribed.
all the best from Spain! everything you've acomplished so far is amazing
I was thinking of making a cutting board too. Thanks for making the video. I also have a spindle sander attachment for the drill press, and, yes, it takes forever. You can pull the lever to simulate an oscillating effect, but it's not ideal.
Great video the cutting boards look great
I love my spindle sander. Use it mainly in sculpture.
Jolies planches à découper! Contente de vous revoir🙏👍
Hermoso trabajo, saludos desde Chile...!!! 🇨🇱
Inspiring. I'll go do something,
Great work! Well done!!
As always, beautiful work! When I make end grain boards I do two things differently. With the final glue up I make sure the grain patterns are alternating. Then after I'm done with all the sanding, I put them in a plastic container with mineral oil and let them soak for 30 minutes. I find that both of these help prevent warping, even with a 1 inch(25 mm) cutting board. I look forward to seeing more of your work and I'm glad you're posting again!
Oh, and I love my oscillating spindle sander. I have the Wen with the oscillating belt sander attachment as well. I ran in some minor issues with the 90 degree angle but the at was fixed with a little shim. So I'd say, get one!
Nice, greetings from vienna
🙂👍🏾😎Greetings from 🇩🇪
Oscillating spindlers are bulky machines used few times compared to other tools. On the hand, for curved pieces are perfect.
Like your style
Love to see you make a body of a guitar soon! 😊
Maybe an electric one, maybe an electric bass. An acoustic one, I don’t think so in the next months at least 🤣 building the ukulele bass 5 years ago was sooo time consuming. I don’t think I can get into such demanding projects in the near future.
I love the striped cutting board. You could use that as a graphic design for a t-shirt.
Great presentation as usual! I have the Triton oscillating spindle sander and I love it. Very inexpensive, portable (I easily store it on a shelf out of the way), and the dust collection is compatible with 35mm Euro vac hoses.
Bom dia, Cris! As tábuas ficaram mesmo muito bonitas, parabéns! Não me importaria nadinha de as ter na minha cozinha! Votos de um excelente feriado, seguido de um glorioso fim de semana! Até ao próximo video!
Hey Cris. If you find yourself out of ideas for a time, might I suggest doing some work with the scroll saw? There are templates and patterns available for free online for some amazing victorian era fretwork. A great rabbit hole to jump in to, lots of fun from small projects to large. Lots of pattern books available online as well. Good luck!

Obrigada pelas palavras encorajadoras!

I have a spindle sander. I don’t use it a lot but, when I do, it’s very handy. Also great for fine tuning templates.
imagine being this young, rich, creative, and hard working. Wow!
Fantastisch!
Muy hermoso
Un saludo desde Barcelona españa
Gracias!
I have a Rigid spindle/belt sander and it is so worth it!
GO MOTIVATION 🤩
Está muy interesante, excelente trabajo.😊
At 1:42, I know what you meant and your phrasing was just fine, but in my head I heard what you said and imagined you'd gone over to her desk and swiped some scraps she had on it for some project of her own. "Um, Cris, I was gonna use those?" "Uhhhhh... 😅" 😂
Cutting boards don't need to be optically flat, some small rubber feet or a silicone mat under the board when using takes care of minor incongruities. Nice work as always
Good point!
God, it's beautiful
Good job!!! I love your style and I hope, one day, to become as good as you and that my videos are able to convey what you convey! A hug
You engineered the drill press table so well, why not design a small motorized cam that will oscillate the drill press quill while you sand?
sometimes you just need to build to get you back in the mood .. even something simple like a new push - stick
Have you seen the spindle/belt sander project that Marius has built a couple of days back?
Only @MariusHornberger s DIY Spindle sander (latest video) will satisfy your needs properly, I guess 😊
Boom!
Great video Cris, the cutting boards look great!
I have a spindle sander, (and video making a box for it). I bough it for a couple of projects I haven't gotten around to making. I have used it a few times and found it slow to remove material when using the smaller spindles.

Cris, simples, belo e funcional.
great jazzy tracks in the background :) who is that ?
I could be wrong but it seems to me that wearing a watch could be dangerous-things sometimes get snagged in the weirdest and unpredictable ways.
You are wrong
@@user-ib5mx8ro4k I don’t think so. What a way to express yourself.
Motivation is my shortest supply ..too ... Don't have a clue where to get a clear channel but your clogged one turned out some nice pieces. Looks like you could use that dreaded effort to clean the rollers inside your thickness planer, They are not doing a very good job feeding the stock through. but don't ask me for motivation - I am the worst at that ...
Ah ah good point Clyde. I get what you see about the rollers, but in this case, the small planks had totally different thicknesses, and by placing them at the same time, the thinner ones didn't get pulled. Either way, Cleaning the rollers is something that I forget most of the time, and thanks for bringing that up!
I wish I had your skills. Where did you train, or are you self taught ?
She learned practically everything from other woodworking TH-camrs
Wow, then she really is a credit to the woodworkers craft. Good on her and hello from Australia.
👍
I will wait for DIY spindle sander 😊
Go for the Over-Engineered Spindel Sander from Marius Hornberger
@@Leftaf actually it was epic diy
@@Leftafabsolutely, just commented to recommend his work
You will feel this way over and over again, until you are finally ready to perceive what it is trying to tell you.
