    Hi Dave, I took a ride with my IGPSPORT BSC300 yesterday, all my stats were pretty on point for my Mountain Biking which is whst I'll use including elevation gain, riding time, elapsed time, speed, cadence, but my miles seemed a bit short on a route I've done a lot before using my phone or smart watch to track. After watching another video, someone recommended downloaded the local maps from their website to the unit via USB, hoping this will fix that problem because after I downloaded the local maps I went into the unit and found my recorded activity under Navigation & activities and the mileage seemed more accurate (about 3 miles more than original recording). So make sure if you get the BSC 300 to download the maps from your area to the unit itself before riding.

    Hi Dave ... I started a couple years back with the iGSport 50E. Last year I got what was then the newest, the iGSport620 which is now a step down from yours. It has nearly the same specs as the iGSport630, just a bit smaller screen. It works great and records everything I need.

    Hello.
    Is it possible to manually set the heart rate interval in the iGS630 cycling computer please?
    There are 5 zones and I would need to set it up to my liking.
    1. 80 - 95
    2. 95 - 111
    3. 111 - 127
    4. 127 - 143
    5. 143 - 159 beats per minute
    I am asking for step by step steps on how to set it up.
    Thank you Milan B.

    I ended up buying the Bryton 750 from watching your channel, and it was on offer on Amazon at the time. I looked at the Garmin and Wahoo kit, but decided the newer, cheaper option was better than the cheaper older Gamins etc. It does have everything I need and has the climb features etc on downloaded routes. The only weird thing was making the turn by turn navigation by changing it to a Bryton route, so in effect duplicating the route. No drama though, I just delete the original route.
    Keep the options showing mate, this kit should be available to all not just the ones that are sponsored or can afford it.

      Just ordered one last night - never had a GPS computer, and tbh I've never really planned routes using things like Strava ! The re routing thing worries me a little bit, because whilst planning in Strava I just find it hard to believe all these little marked trails are actually ridable! However I feel like by seeing the heatmap feature is quite a good confidence boost that there will be something there 😂
      Anyway - excited! Are you still pleased with yours ?

    Nice review! I just got back into riding and I tried using my old Vetta S500, but the sensor is broken. What would happen if I used one of those without the speed sensor? Is that necessary? What is the battery life like? Personally never seen the need for power meters etc etc so years ago invested in a rugid phone 'Defender' which is waterproof and has good battery life, paired with quad lock mounts and digital maps 'Memory Maps to cover whole of UK so no need for internet connections etc on the go. Used for walking and in car as well. Not turn by turn info though.

    So it's a lot cheaper than a Garmin, but no touchscreen, no rerouting, no freeride for climbs and who knows how many other things it's missing. And if you want to create a route and store it on the device you have to use something like Kamoot which has a subscription price, Garmin Connect for route planning is free. Can you swap out map regions on this thing and does it have the same search capabilities as Garmin - probably not? Is it fair to compare this to a 1040 and keep on repeating it's 400 pounds cheaper, or would the Explore 2 be a more fair comparison? But wait, even the cheap Explore 2 has a good touchscreen.

    • @DaveNoakes
      @DaveNoakes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s a lot of features it doesn’t have…and I point those out. But not every cyclist wants all those features so why pay more when there’s stuff you’ll never use? I figure most people like yourself will pick a Garmin as they know what they want and what feature they will regularly use.
      Whereas if you are looking for a cheap alternative then this is great. Most people understand that when you pay less for something in the electronic world it usually has less features.

    • @DaveNoakes
      @DaveNoakes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Phones are ok but
      - phone has less battery life
      - can’t pair power meters, or other sensors
      - route navigation isn’t as good
      - a phone is more expensive to replace if something happens
      - less information about the ride, climb info etc…
      - not designed to be out in the elements all day
      But each to their own. If a phone suits your needs that’s great…for those looking at a cycling computer this is a much cheaper alternative to the bigger brands.

  • @grahamriley8124

    The carbon footprint on these is huge surely. If you are upgrading regularly and you have a phone which can do a lot of what the computer does can you really justify it.

    • @DaveNoakes
      @DaveNoakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d say the carbon footprint on phones is much bigger…the demand is higher, people upgrade their phones more often than cycle computers. I’d rather a new cycle computer than phone and i wouldn’t be buying a new one every year. When you look and brands like Apple, Samsung…can we really say the the carbon footprint of a cycle computer is bigger?
