You should check out the studies that claim that normal cigs are healthier - they basically take 2,5 ohm coils and let 50W through them, basically burning the cotton and shouting that this will seriously harm you.
The Yorkshire Cancer Institute recently came out with some interesting information on the dangers of vaping and how they're largely overblown. Still dangerous, but not even on the same scale as cigarette smoking. The comparison used was jumping off the 60th story of a building vs jumping of the bottom step of a staircase
the problem is that it's being compared to cigarettes, because most new users are coming from nothing to vapes, and not downgrading from cigarettes, and in that aspect it's far worse for you
Sooooo, it's still worse than not vaping? Sounds like a good enough reason to simply not do it. I seriously don't understand people who defend it just because it's safer than smoking when the vast majority of those vaping have never touched a cigarette in their life and likely never would have with or without vaping.
I suppose that's the case. What I've noticed, however, is that your ability to breathe gets so much worse while you're vaping. This is luckily temporary, but it just makes me feel awful.

I know I'm pretty late on this but as someone who was in highschool during the teenage vape epidemic, all the kids knew it had nicotine and that's part of the reason they wanted a juul. Yes they wanted it for clout too but EVERYONE was fully aware it had nicotine. "Pass the nic" became the new phrase
The kids that say they "didn't know Juul contained nicotine!" are straight up lying. Maybe a kid who was given a hit by a friend wouldn't know it contained nicotine but anyone who had their own and hit it enough to get some sort of health issues absolutely knew there was nicotine in their Juul. I loved this. As a person with asthma who also had recurring bronchitis as a child, I personally prefer vapists to cigarette smokers on any day of the week. Cigarette smoke (even the smell of it on somebody's clothes or furniture) makes me nauseous and can trigger an asthma attack if I'm exposed to it for more than a few minutes. But vape? I don't mind it at all. It either doesn't smell at all or smells nice, and I can breathe even when surrounded by a thick cloud of the stuff. If all chain-smokers switched to vape or other less nauseating (not to mention healthier) alternates, that would be bliss.
I used to have to breathe albuterol everyday when I smoked. I switched to vaping, and haven't had to take a nebulizer treatment since. There is something to it
This is why history is important. Their first solution was saying they should ban flavoured ecigs, because that totally worked in the 20s!! If you ban a thing in demand, more janky alternatives always pop up, it's just how things have always been.

Dangerous modifications including people buying mechanical mods and not knowing anything about ohm's law. What's also funny is that vitamin e acetate can be consumed in small amounts. But when inhaled can cause chemical burns and lung damage.
Heck, I studied a couple electrical/electronics engineering modules in uni and even I don't fancy faffing with a mechanical mod 😬. Not necessarily because I think I'd build the atomiser wrong, or make the resistance unsuitable for the battery... but because I know that the level of faff wouldn't be worth it for me, especially having to keep the batteries between certain voltages 😫. I'd be willing to bet some people might not know that more coils (i.e. a dual coil or more) means less resistance, and easily go past the battery's amp rating 😳. It makes logical sense but I can see people not realising that batteries work differently to say... something like a tank of water, where trying to pull water out faster than intended doesn't affect the water in the tank. They don't get that overcurrent can cause excess heat because of a battery's internal resistance - and that heat damages the battery internally which can result in thermal runaway and *oops* you've essentially made an explosive pipe 😂. It's definitely something I want to venture into at some point to really fine tune a perfect setup for me, and I love the idea of a mech mod because I love mechanical systems - and you can get some stunning mods 😍. But I know what can go wrong and why, and have access to very accurate multimeters at home and uni. Not to say someone shouldn't give it a go without formal education about electronics.if they've done their research... but I'm uncomfortable with the idea of novices building super low ohm atomisers and not having them tested and looked over by an experienced friend, or at a vape shop that deals with mech mods 😬
I’m a little late to the party, but I’m in the vape industry. For years now My industry had been targeted for nonsense. They want it band, and it’s ridiculous. But I think you did a great job, and covered it in a way that was unbiased. I really appreciate that, especially with the outreach you have to pass on the correct information. And “it’s still much better than cigarets but still not good for you” is the best way to sum it up.
I'm eternally grateful for vaping, I never would've been able to stop smoking tobacco without it. One morning I did my usual smoker's cough at the sink and coughed up blood. It made more tangible the dread I'd felt for years that smoking was result in something bad. Bought vape that day and it was fantastic and I've never bought a pack of cigs or tobacco since. Tried quitting vaping for a month but I put on a stone so it's fat or vape and I choose vape as I'm going to have some hourly poison. I do worry about unknown health effects of vaping and stuff about metal poisoning, and smoking tobacco can still kill me even though I quit, but at least I can breathe normally and everything. At least I'm free of tobacco.

A fairly big difference is that Vapes being relatively new, they didn't have yet a big enough lobby like tobacco does. So it's a fairly good idea to regulate it BEFORE they get there.
The problem with the vape business is that it's directly marketed for and at children. In the UK, tobacco products are heavily taxed, MUST have a minimum portion of the packaging (I believe it's about 80-90%) covered in (terrifying) health warnings, MUST NOT be visible to customers (they need to ask for something specifically), MUST only be sold from behind the shop counter and can only be sold to people over the age of 18. Vapes (irrespective of the amount of nicotine they contain) are not only on open displays, but those displays are not behind the shop counter and are sold in stores that don't sell other tobacco products. The packaging does not include any health warnings. But the flavours, colours and names are very obviously aimed at children. I remember when alcopops first hit the UK market and the outrage that ensued. Anything that is inhaled other than clean air (if there is such a thing) is bad for us. If a person over the age of 18 has all the facts concerning the practice of vaping, understands the risks and can make a fully informed decision, that's their business. But marketing products that are known to be addictive and lead to serious illness and death to children, is utterly unacceptable.
Man a time traveler. This comment is straight from 2016. The industry has cracked down hard on vaping. Especially in 2022. Laws have gotten so much stricter and it's gotten super expensive. Be glad the UK isn't part of the EU anymore. It's even worse over there.
@requiemagent3014 yet they are still marketed at children and young teens in the UK despite your comment 🤔 Bright colours, sweet flavours, attractive designs... No pictures of illness, no standard packaging.
@requiemagent3014 alcohol isn't marketed at children in the UK though. The industry has been there, done that and been in trouble for it. Alcohol is certainly aimed at an adult market. But yes, it doesn't have pictures of the negative health effects or plain packaging, which arguably with the damage it can cause, should.
For me personally i could give two shits how people dull the edge of the daily grind but dont spit that shit in my face mid conversation because you think its no big deal and its safer then cigarettes, having cloud of car freshener smelling breath hit my face is annoying as hell. cigarette users stop asking random people on the street for a smoke. growing up that shit always pissed me off have some dude grab my attention while im zoned out listening to music just to ask me for a cigarette on my way to work or school when i was still going to school. Even if i did smoke why am i going to give one to some random passerby on the street, not to be a dick but for real that shit growing up always got under my skin i cant be the only one. sorry had to rant love the video man as always great quality.
There was a satire page in Mad Magazine I remember as a kid that had "crazy" ideas for cigarette smokers to make it healthy. Some were crazy like a balloon that gets sucked into your lungs so the smoke never gets inhaled, but I think there were some ideas that closely mirror what finally happened. Another I remember was a metal filter cover with a tip that was in the smoke so as you smoked, it heated and started burning your lips. Wish I still had it, but water damage a long time ago. :(
You didnt stop to think that maybe the vapes were the reason why there were less smokers? Cause i can tell you it helped alot to bring that number down. The fact that ONE company wants to make more money and therefore market things to kids, is that one company's fault and dosent mean that its a bad thing to have.
@@4450krank Eh both of us don't know for sure, but I'd bet Vaping introduced more kids that would have never smoked into the "nicotine culture" than it helped prevent or ween people off conventual forms of smoking. And even if that is not the case Looking at it logically. Smoking was steadily losing popularity long before the 2000s or Vaping. More and more generations would see smoking and "nicotine culture" as an unappealing fad their grandparents did when they were younger. Now because of vaping, these most recent generations see vaping as something socially acceptable, normal, if not cool. Perhaps if you are correct (which I don't think you are) and vaping has removed more conventual smokers than it has introduced vapers, in the long run it will increase the growth of "nicotine culture".
@@CrossBreedTacoHD You may be right, but at the same time one does not have to have nicotine in the vape, most if not all flavours can be acquired without nicotine, and that is to my knowledge what most young people use because they are fully aware of nicotine being addictive.
Just a note, the black market carts also killed ppl via the metal used to solder the wires. Certain ones have a metal that produces toxic fumes when heated. It's really only an issue when buying the cheapest cartridges you can find online, usually from China, which alot of black market cart makers do.
those Blu ecigs actually helped me quit completely. they mimicked the sensation of smoking very well, and the classic tobacco flavor was just similar enough to replace it. plus I could use them inside and not stink up my apartment. over time I just didn't crave cigarettes, and now I just have some Blus lying around the place that I don't use. I don't throw them away cause if I crave a cigarette, a few drags from one of those is a much better alternative.
as a smoker the video at 0:14 rationalizes smoking for me because you can visibly see the cigarette getting shorter as it burns. this means that i am right, actually, in smoking more and more because every time i think that i'm smoking a cigarette, i am actually smoking less than 1 full one; this empowers me to chainsmoke to make up for the lost tobacco length. thanks, ordinary things!

As someone who started smoking at 11 I can safely assure everyone that if a child is going to smoke, it isn't going to matter whether it tastes like a tire or a strawberry. They'll do it anyways. And vaping didn't just help me quit cigarettes, it made it so I couldn't smoke one even when I tried to; I would cough and gag and toss it less than halfway through and I'd spent the better part of a decade smoking a pack and a half of Crush bolds (rip the only menthol with a good throat hit) a day.
It's kinda weird having a high school experience that made this transition. During my sophomore year (2017-2018), I saw like maybe a handful of people use their own vapes, but my junior year, almost all my friends either owned a vape or very regularly hit off their friends' vapes. I'm admittedly guilty of the latter, because I was smart enough to not own one but not enough to avoid sometimes bumming off my friends' carts. I admittedly still don't know what to think of this fact now, finishing my senior year in college, just seeing how much it took off
Damn and here I thought I saw every video you made, dont know why this appeared in my recommended after like half a year of having seen every other one, but still appreciated. It feels like a new video came out!
I'm nearly 10 years without a cigarette and I'd never have done so without vaping. I was a heavy smoker for 25 years (2 packs per day for most of that time, and usually Camels) I didn't expect to still be vaping all this time later, but every time I try to give it up the cigarette craving comes back hard. I don't even use nicotine in my vape juice anymore, I weaned myself off of it over the first 2 or 3 years vaping. So it's all in my head but I've got the habit so ingrained in me that I just can't give it up completely. It's not possible that I am still burdened by the addiction so it's just pure classic weakness, one would suppose.
I’ve been vaping for a little over two years and I love it, it taste great I can do it inside and it doesn’t smell bad, and it’s less harmful than smoking, honestly I hate douchbags who do it cause they make it look really stupid and edgy, but I recommend vaping over smoking any day
To quit tobacco, i started smoking tobacco replacement. A mix of different smokable herbs, leaves and petals. Gladly the nicotine wasn't my addiction, but the oral fixation since i can be quite neurotic and unable to sit still doing nothing. I was able to switch from tobacco in a day. The money savings were also really nice, cutting more than half the costs of smokables.
My mum wants to get a vape to quit smoking and I've been a little apprehensive. This video has done a lot to put me at ease. Great stuff man, thanks for the informative video
I'm turning 40 this week. I have been smoking since I was 14, daily since I was 18.. it got up to two packs a day when I could smoke inside and at work (construction) It was 50mg/ml Nic Salts that helped me quit, right before they reduced the amount of nicotine that was allowed in each cartridge down to 20. I felt really proud that I had quit, I told my Mom and she freaked out citing all these deaths, it actually bummed me out enough to take up smoking again. (Silly, I know) 2 years later and i'm down to a pack a month while vaping this 20mg/ml stuff which doesn't quite satisfy the fix

Both my parents quit smoking in favor of vaping. And my mother even ended up quitting vaping. Proud of them.
The problem with the statement "Vaping is generally safer than smoking"
is that it completely depends on what's in the liquid you put in the vape.
And on what you're smoking too, to be fair.
And also dicking with your vape doohickey and making it go boom.
Nah, thats the point of the word generally. It implies situations where that's not the case. Ya know, like when you're using an unregulated tank to burn homemade liquid.
that's literally why you put "generally" in front of the statement.
Are there any legal vaping liquids available that are less safe than smoking?

Still dangerous, but not even on the same scale as cigarette smoking. The comparison used was jumping off the 60th story of a building vs jumping of the bottom step of a staircase
Those ankle injuries are no joke
the problem is that it's being compared to cigarettes, because most new users are coming from nothing to vapes, and not downgrading from cigarettes, and in that aspect it's far worse for you
Sooooo, it's still worse than not vaping? Sounds like a good enough reason to simply not do it.
I seriously don't understand people who defend it just because it's safer than smoking when the vast majority of those vaping have never touched a cigarette in their life and likely never would have with or without vaping.

It really sucks that cigarette smoking was at an all time low, and of course vapes brought the nicotine culture right back up.
You didnt stop to think that maybe the vapes were the reason why there were less smokers? Cause i can tell you it helped alot to bring that number down. The fact that ONE company wants to make more money and therefore market things to kids, is that one company's fault and dosent mean that its a bad thing to have.
Alcohol should be banned to, the shit has caused so many deaths but no one cares.
@@4450krank Eh both of us don't know for sure, but I'd bet Vaping introduced more kids that would have never smoked into the "nicotine culture" than it helped prevent or ween people off conventual forms of smoking.
And even if that is not the case
Looking at it logically.
@@CrossBreedTacoHD You may be right, but at the same time one does not have to have nicotine in the vape, most if not all flavours can be acquired without nicotine, and that is to my knowledge what most young people use because they are fully aware of nicotine being addictive.

those Blu ecigs actually helped me quit completely. they mimicked the sensation of smoking very well, and the classic tobacco flavor was just similar enough to replace it. plus I could use them inside and not stink up my apartment. over time I just didn't crave cigarettes, and now I just have some Blus lying around the place that I don't use.

It's 25ft from public entrances, not property line... or we'd all be standing in the middle of the street so cars can run us over.
I've got an autoimmune disease & hang out in the car where many neighbors visit, so I'd really been wondering how I didn't get this yet. Maybe that's it! I'm grateful whatever it is, coz it'd kill both Mom (84) & me.
