Yeah and possibly titanium as well still developing them. I bought one for my daughter and had the same problem. I bedded the recoil lug with devcon and it shoots a lot better but it didn’t handle the screw tension
As a fellow colonist from across the sea in Chinada - It's amazingly sad the idiotic firearms regulations former colonies burden their people with. Here we can't hunt deer with a .224 diameter bullet.. no matter the weight or the platform. Silencers are also prohibited. Then again we all saw who really pulls the strings during the "safe and effective" so its no surprise to see we are still treated as a colony. I've found a lot of these light platforms benefit from bedding the action in the stocks, the weight it adds is minimal and it takes a lot of stress off the action bolts. Had a 7PRC that literally stripped half of the screws out of the chassis after 400 some shots, and another 300PRC that also needed bedding because it was put in a standard stock that worked for their light recoil rifles but not so much with the heavy magnums.
Used to 9:26 do carbon fibre and fibreglass work for a trade, carbon fibre is ridiculously stiff unless it is a thin hollow tube, so torquing stuff up on to it can have a habit of cracking since it doesn’t have any give like wood does
It's got an aluminium pillar, so I assume they've got that is there to take the torque. Problem is the plastic bottom has a tapered hole with a tapered screw head.... which is not a smart idea. But thanks for the info on carbon, not every day I speak to someone from that trade.
I had the same problem with a Howa mini action. I'm pretty sure they recommended 45 inch/pounds for the action screws and the first time I tightened them the bottom metal which was plastic split. I got nowhere near 45 inch/pounds. I think I got around the 30 mark when it split.
Hmm, plastic bottom metal cracked, same problem with Howa mini action, no specs as well for tightening action bolts, perhaps when you manufacture the fix, you should market them??
I just got the howa elevate in 308 has a larger carbon wrapped profile barrel, same stock, bottom is metal and 5 rnd hinged floor plate. Shoots bloody awesome and you'd spend shit ton more on a comparable rifle. As you say light as fuck. Cheers
Good review. Hows the balance off the shoulder mate? Ive held some short and light rifles that are a pain to hold steady, always made me a bit suspicious of going too light.
The mini action sounds exactly the same. I wish I never sold my first Howa as that was on a different level of machinery. That 6.5 still jumps a lot out of the sled, probably better to sty with low recoiled callibres
It's just silly, .270 is ok, 6.5 is not. Plenty of 6.5 factory ammo that will put more energy into a deer than a .270. Rules written by city dwellers who have never pulled a trigger. Probably because they are too busy pulling something else..
All firearm rules written by people who could not tell the difference between a rifle and a broomstick. Read recently that the " experts" thought that all firearms had only one cartridge. No wonder the firearm laws are a shambles.
Scope snob. Nobody looking through those two brands can tell the difference in the field that doesn't vomit bullshit, we shoot for a living and use both so aren't trying to justify our purchases.
If you can't see the animal in the scope, then get closer 😂 best thing I've heard on a gun channel so far👏😁🤙
Good review, that accuracy is about what everybody has been getting in their reviews and they still all like it. It's very very lightweight.
I have one of these chambered in .308 Win and it is a sub-moa with several of my handloads ( not a picky rifle at all) and it runs flawlessly
I have the same rifle. I’ve had aluminum pillars/bedding done. I’d definitely recommend.

@@brycehallett9154 if it’s chambered in 270 it’s the next model up. Slightly different features l, but still good.

It's an interesting video but I'm still looking at getting a Eureka Stockade. I'm just wondering when they'll sort out the classifications?
Only slightly off topic... No idea, it's up to the police at this point.
Another good review mate!!
Do you think you will put a muzzle brake on it and if so what’s your choice?
Cheers

@@dancoope256 I don’t put muzzle brakes in stalking rifles. I don’t like blowing out my eardrums.
You can buy metal replacement for $25 from the Barn.
Good review.

Feels like a rifle, only lighter. The trick with light rifles is to not linger on the target.

Good advice
Same with any rifle. Aim, align site and shoot. Taking too long only creates wobble.

I thought i heard someone is making a BDL style floorplate for these, if so, I'd be kinda keen on one
Yeah a mob in the states are doing an aluminium bottom metal/floor plate.
I think a South Aus company might be making an AICS DBM replacement for this..
That “zippyness” in the bolt is annoying but it goes away with use, not lying I’ve got mine gliding better than my tikka now 😅
There is an Australian company soon to release an aluminium one I am getting one for r and d soon

Aluminum Chassis/stock?
Are you able to lap the zipper sound out of the bolt raceway?

I went the carbon fiber short action 6.5cm , i have mine in an MDT XRS Chassis its not fucking 2.5kg but lol.

That action is like nails on a blackboard. Fk that, thats way worse than my rem700 that already has me considering trading it for another Tikka.
