    Day 6 (Trat ตราด): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
    On Day 6 we headed to Ban Nam Chiao (บ้านน้ำเชี่ยว), a small town with lots of history and culture in Trat. We met up with Khun Na who bought some ingredients and cooked us some unique Thai Trat style Halal food.
    Ban Nam Chiao (บ้านน้ำเชี่ยว) is quite an amazing town in Trat. First you enter and there’s an iconic bridge with a pretty steep arch so the fishing boats can pass. Part of the fun of visiting is crossing the bridge. The village has done a great job of offering eco tours and homestays if you’re interested as well.
    Unique ingredients used in the cooking:
    Rakam (ระกำ) - salacca wallichiana
    Krawan (กระวาน) - amomum testaceum (cardamom stems)
    Here are the dishes we cooked and ate:
    Mung bean noodles, crab (วุ้นเส้นผัดปู)
    Chicken, cardamom stems (ไก่ผัดกระวาน)
    Shrimp paste, salacca (น้ำพริกระกำ)
    Climbing wattle omelet (ชะอมไข่)
    Fried pompano (ปลาจาระเม็ดทอด)
    Barramundi, salacca, cardamom stems (ปลากระพงต้มระกำกระวาน)
    Pineapple (สับปะรด) - 20 THB ($0.64)
    After finishing the amazing food, we continued on to Koh Chang (เกาะช้าง), an island in Trat.
    Koh Chang Ferry with car - 280 THB ($8.96)

    This halal thing is absolutely amazing. Its not a religious thing to me,its about the cleanliness. There is no comparison of the Muslims as far as clean and hygienic food is concerned. A big thumbs up for this one mate.

    For all the people who don’t understand what does halal mean basically it’s a method to make sure that the animals dead without suffering, it’s done by cutting the connection between the brain and the backbone to not let the nerves send the pain signals, also the animal should not be thirsty so usually they let the animal drink before they kill it and if the animal dead with any other reason like illness or shoot or accident it’s no longer halal. One extra point the animal should not see the other animals dead so to be halal the killing method should be done individually.
    This roles first come to human by the Ibrahim prophet so it’s not only muslim things it’s basically all Ibrahamatic religions, but now almost only muslim people follows it as it’s clearly defined in their holy book Quran. Mohamad prophet said eating non halal food could be the course of killing your heart means losing your humanity, also other prophet I can not remember which one of them sorry, anyway he said if you suffering from bad dreams so often make sure your food is halal.

    • @qoriahsiti8576

      LoveTheSurgeon no, crab is halal. all of seafood is halal

    • @LoveTheSurgeon
      @LoveTheSurgeon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I am reading everywhere online that shellfish is haram, not halal. On what basis are you making the claim that is is halal?

    • @LaLaLaLaLuLaLaLaLaLu
      @LaLaLaLaLuLaLaLaLaLu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      LoveTheSurgeon on what basis are the others making the claim that crab is haram? In the quran there isn't written what specific seafood you cant and can eat. Its up to the ones who believe whats right and what's wrong.

    • @LoveTheSurgeon
      @LoveTheSurgeon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jelliemon Ok, I was just wondering. There seems to be a conflict of thought about shellfish being halal or not but yeah, at the end of the day it's up to the individual to decide what's right and wrong, and what to believe in and what not to believe in. Was just curious :)

      Cynthia Vayio its a way of killing the animal without it feeling any pain if the animal died with illness or shot it isnt halal anymore

    • @BakizaKh
      @BakizaKh 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey Cynthia! since nobody seriously answered ur question- I hope I can after 4 mnths asking this question! Primarily halal, which means permissible, is all about how the animal was killed and the intention behind the killing so to say. Just before killing an animal we say "bismiallah" to which translate "in the name of God ", meaning our intention is to eat the meat with permission from God and acknowledgment to the blessing he gave us. Now the way the sacrifice is made is by slicing through the neck all the way with a very very very sharp knife without the animal seeing it. Its supposed to be quick and painless and unstressful to the animal, thus why we try to keep them relaxed, hide the knife and keep other animals being killed away from view. With this method, the blood is drained out of the body efficiently and best way possible thus being seen as clean, as really you dont want the meat to be still full of blood, as you would see with meat in which the animal has been strangled. Also with the animal relaxed and the killing being swift and quick, the animal wont feel it, due to passing out immediately from blood loss. Not causing the animal to panic is also good as it wont release panic hormones in the blood which would improve the meat quality. For muslims, its only permissible to eat halal! It sets a guideline to make sure the killing is humane and proper. But you dont have to be muslim to eat it! anyone can eat it as halal is really about way of killing the animal! Side note: for meat to be halal it cannot be meat of pigs or meat of animals of prey! In Islam they are impermissible to eat, so regardless with whatever way you kill them, they wont ever be halal.

      Let me explain Brother
      First: I don't agree with Saudi's at all. They tend to extreme rules which is not allowed in Islam.
      Second: I can not prohibit anyone to eat since I live in a western (christian) country.
      Third: Even If I could, It is not allowed in Islam to force the non-muslims to fast with you or to prohibit eating. That is again one of the Saudi extreme rules.
      On the time of our Propher (saw) he lived peacefully in Medina with Jews and Christians. He fasted while they were eating.
      The situation we western muslims are in is called Jihad al-Nafs (The fight against your inner greed). We have to discipline our selfes to fast even if people around us are not.
