When he comes to my home town "Belfast" he meets us before the show and after and talks to us about playing, it's like talking to a brother, WHAT A GUY!
I've had the pleasure, no, ! the privilege, of being in the audience hearing this humble genius play three times. He is more than all of the parts you hear. Hard to put in words. YES! He's a genius. But, he's even a better person. There's little ego I can find . One of the finest humans on our planet.
The more I see and hear Tommy Emanuel interact with others, reflect on his musical interpretation and his delivery to the audience, he makes me love music as I have not felt in over half a century. He is a guide through this magical dimension, and he conjures up friends like Chet Atkins and Tony Rice as though performing for a whole cast of talent. The more I hear, the more there is to discover in Tommy.
I met Tommy backstage, after a concert. He is the most personable, friendly, and sharing "Musical Star" you will ever meet. He is, and always will be my most favorite guitarist of all time. I cherish the signed poster and signed pick guard from him.
THE best guitarist in the world by a country mile, when you consider all the styles he can play (Jazz,lead,rhythm,etc) then consider his main style which is fingerstyle, the way he plays it, the most difficult style to play, then add his writing....Tommy is in a league of his own and anyone who knows and understands guitar knows this. Going to see him next year - cannot wait!!
Tommy never cease to amaze me every time he plays the guitar! He’s really a genius! He could be an alien from the guitarian constellation! Who knows. Just unbelievable talent!!
Is there a nicer gent than Tommy, so obliging and polite, with everyone, the patience he shows is tremendous , a lesson for all these so called pop stars, he encourages the guys to master the guitar, a proper human being, superb
I just watched this video again after I realized that I posted a comment 9 years ago - and I was envious of you getting access to Tommy Emmanuel and you got his signature on your guitar - - - -well , , I was lucky enough to meet him in person in Houston at a meet and greet just before the concert. He was gracious enough to sign my guitar - now my most prized possession!
I seen him 3 times got to meet him once such a nice guy and as dad says he is the happiest player he has ever seen . If I could just jam like that I might be pretty happy too :)
Are you KIDDING!!!!!!!! I am so envious of you having rock star access to Tommy. I just saw him in Houston up-close and personal on the front row. Tommy was absolutely amazing and the night was simply magical. You better keep that guitar SAFE!!! and never sell it - there are people like me out here that would give anything for a Tommy Emmanuel signature on our guitars. I was lucky enough to snag a Tommy Emmanuel poster from the venue that night - and I really thought I had something!!
back in the late 80s, I longed for a Guild acoustic because I thought they had the most beautifully wooden tone of all the brands in the store. Never bought one but I wish I had. Tommy is an amazing player. Congrats.
@@chris_tarroza Yes, I think Guild made really good acoustic guitars back in the day. Not sure if they sound better than some Martins but I've not extensively compared any. I just remember a few brands in the music store I worked at. I play electric mostly but those Guilds.... I thought they sounded the best over any of the Taylors and Takamine (especially Takamine) and godz... the Ovations sucked in every way, imo. Whoever designed that rounded back was an absolute idiot. Try playing one of those sitting down and the back was made out of.... PLASTIC! Man, if I did play acoustic, I wouldn't mind finding an old Guild in good shape. This video is a great example of how it sounds being played by someone who really knows how and so you have no excuse! hahahah Make some great music now.
Lol, "get to work". I remember the first time me and a friend met tommy we already felt like we'd known him for years through watching youtube videos and reading interviews. Such a warm and welcoming guy. It was a special moment getting our guitars signed, laughed all the way back to the hotel. Nice vid man

I am a well seasoned classical guitarist and if that was my guitar, I would hang it on the wall and never touch it again! Tommy is a rare talent.

I find it so impressive how perfect Tommy’s foot is tapping like a metronome. Surprisingly hard to be able to do that so in time
I remember him saying that he used to play drums. I’ve also heard from many musicians that moving your body to the beat helps you stay in time

I saw TE playing 7x in The Netherlands, one of the best players I ever seen and met with a meet and greet.
