Welcome! Some useful info for your trip that I learned when immigrating- Cash is rarely used - some stores might not even have a lot of change if you pay with a big note. Tipping is not expected anywhere (but nice to do if you feel generous), and as such you usually pay for your café, bar, restaurant bill at the til (ie get up and pay). Getting the 'check' to your table isn't really a thing. If you buy alcohol, everyone with you must have id (not just the buyer) You can only park your car facing the direction of traffic (you'll get a ticket if you park the wrong way around!) and last you and all your family are covered by the health system for any accidents you might be unlucky to have (sprains, strains, broken bones!). All New Zealanders and tourists have mostly free coverage for accidents through a system called ACC which you can look up if you get a bump! (you likely won't need your health insurance for these things). This system replaces personal injury claims in the country - which means yep you can't sue here. Last, fun fact eggs in New Zealand don't need to be refrigerated (just kept at a stable temperature). In the US they wash eggs at the factory and strip the natural protective layers from the egg and need to be refrigerated as a result. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip.
This is fantastic information!!! Thank you so much!! I had no idea about the tipping until we went to a restaurant! I love this, thank you for sharing!!!
@@ValieBallardwe kind of have tips, some places will have a tip jar on the bar but it’s less ‘tip your server’ and more ‘tip the staff as a whole’ to my understanding it gets shared out or used to get something for the staff to share. Very cute seeing you all discover the beach, something I definitely take for granted. Reminded me how lucky we are to be so close to the ocean

Legislation around poultry farms came into effect 2 or 3 years ago. Chicken had to farmed in a manner that was more humane for them. Barn chickens have decent space to lay in. But of course, costs go up. Everything has gone up, mind you. I hope you enjoy your stay.
We can hope with the extra cost the eggs are better for us, too!? I was so surprised by the cost! Sometimes we can buy 12 eggs for $2-3 usd but they are not cage free by any means! :) Thank you for the well wishes!!!
Actually many chicken farms went out of business, because of new Government regulations on poultry farming, the new laws were passed in 2012. Battery Caged Hens was outlawed etc. Then Supermarkets refused, colony caged eggs, colony cages are larger, but the Supermarkets argue, still not enough, freedom for the hens.. N.Z. hens are pretty clever, they're more intelligent than many humans ...as you can see The reason for the price inflation, after all the carnage, is simply there's a shortage, an even to free range you need a couple of Doctorates .. All the best for yours an N.Z. it's a wonderful country I hear ..🌝..

Welcome to New Zealand I see you and the kids have embraced the outdoors perfectly! Enjoy your stay. You don't need to refrigerate your eggs here in NZ/ In the United States, eggs need to be refrigerated because commercially sold eggs are washed and sanitized during processing, which removes their natural protective coating, making them more susceptible to bacteria, so refrigeration is necessary to prevent contamination; in contrast, many other countries like NZ don't refrigerate eggs because they don't wash the eggs, allowing the protective layer to remain intact. Kia ora ,Welcome... you did your grocery shopping at the most expensive store sadly, in Auckland we use costco, butchers, fruit and veg markets and the fish market, have an amazing time in our beautiful country
Lime pit warkworth is a fresh water swimming hole for free. North Auckland. Martins bay is a good place to swim at any time, or Snells Beach when the tide comes in late in the day, the water can feel like a warm bath.

welcome to New Zealand, you have a beautiful family. As we are coming into our summer and our sun can get extreme even on cloudy days, please be sure your children use sunblock and hats. As the summer progresses you can get sunburnt in only a matter of 10 minutes or less. Sunblock and covering up in the sun is essential if you do not want to suffer severe sunburn. Other than that I hope you have a fun time in our beautiful country.

Welcome to Aotearoa NZ beautiful family or whanau as we say here. Shop for food at Pak'n'Save it's so much cheaper and still great food. Have a memorable stay. God bless you all.
I hope you try the meat pies and fish and chips. My favourite place for pies is Mt Richmond Bakery but almost any bakery will sell pies. With pies you get what you pay for. By the way K Mart is still open in New Zealand.
Welcome to Aotearoa New Zealand!!! Enjoy your stay & be safe. Some tips. Use Sunblock every day especially very white skin. Even if it's overcast our sun burns badly. We don't have wild animals in NZ but dogs need to be on leash. Buying veges at a fruit shop is way cheaper than at a supermarket. Cheapest Supermarket is Pak n Save. Kmart is open til midnight in case you need anything. Traffic is busiest just before 10am & then by 3pm in Auckland. We don't tip at restaurants. Waiters/waitresses get paid wages here so no tips required. Plus, any tips go into a jar & the Manager decides on distribution to all staff. GST is included in every purchase at every store, restaurant, petrol stations. Most popular food to try in NZ is a kiwi pie. Google best bakery in your area. Bakeries provide cheaper lunch options for big families. You'll find pastries, pies, sweet treats, sandwiches etc. If going on road trips always let someone know where you're going & be careful on the windy roads. Especially if your not used to driving opposite side of road. "Kia Ora!" means, Hello, thank you, how are you?". Most drivers are courteous & overall people are friendly & helpful. Enjoy your stay!!!

Welcome to New Zealand. Hell pizza is far better than Pizza Hut or Domino's. Better still are the Italian Pizzarias which are everywhere. Fruit and vegetables are cheaper at farmers' markets (usually held on weekends) or going to produce shops. Supermarkets are ridiculously expensive these days. Free range eggs are the best as they're not pumped full of antibiotics. Hope you have a wonderful time in our glorious country.
Welcome to NZ watch out for sunny days our sun can be a burner with 15 min at heat of the days as we have hole in ozone over us. So doesn't take as long to burn so have sunscreen available and a hat.
Judging by the other comments, you've already left but, am commenting for anyone else reading this and thinking of visiting. The big chain takeaway places aren't that great and are over priced. Much better to go to a bakery and buy a pie - steak and cheese or mince and cheese are the most popular. My favourite bakery and pie is the Salmon and Bacon pie from the Fairlie Bakehouse in te Waipounamu/ the South Island. The other must try is Fish and Chips. Super cheap meal and really tasty - l make a salad or coleslaw at home and turn it into a proper meal. You can get old school hamburgers at fish and chip shops too - MUCH bigger and better. A quick google will tell you which places are best. Hope you enjoyed your visit with us. 😊
Welcome!!! Please have Cash as back up! secondly our Police force is not like the states, your going to notice alot of Meth users annd theft is rife here.. For food best to get get veggies at your local Fruit and Veg Shop, as for meat make friends with your local butcher, don't buy from a big chain as they will rip you off, second hand shops for your clothing needs and please make sure you keep your kids safe in public areas, Meth is rife here!!! hahahaha yeah our groceries are expensive....and our eggs are out of this world expensive cos they brought in new laws recently about how egg chickens are kept, to be kinder.... so now all our eggs are happy eggs, they cost twice as much, but we still buy just as many as before.... welcome!! I grew up going to long bay beach, it was a few old bach's back in the day along the grass part.... NONE of those houses existed near by.... it was glorious .
We don’t need to refrigerate our eggs in NZ. And yeah, they’re expensive, but we don’t have battery farms here anymore, so they’re pretty much all free range…
Just an fyi - Domino's did that 'shrinkflation' move at least a couple of months ago by featuring their 'new, better pizza boxes!' 🙄 anyone could see they were cost saving. I have a pizza from scratch recipe that's better, and the dough can be frozen (my partner's in Canada so I like how that's an option. At least pizzas tend to taste more authentically Italian, though 😕 However, I do think it's a good thing that our portion sizes are smaller here - there's no reason to eat until your stuffed (I could only ever finish half a meal when I was in Canada 🤷♀️)
Long bay is hardly Nz. However it is safe swimming. I suggest you see if you can book with the Motutapu trust (do some google searches ) and go and do a day of weeding or potting plants out on Motutapu Island. which is just south of Rangitoto and is joined by a causeway created by US Seabees during WWII.. There's a normal commercial ferry that will take you out about 9am and grab you again about 4.30pm. IN the wetter parts of the winter they (The Trust) do tree planing as well , ie re-vegetating with the trees that were on the island before the Europeans took it over for farming. There are three wharves that will get you there on the Island , one on Islington Bay but on the Volcano side and one right around past Emu rock (which destroyed a steamer way back when) which is on Home bay on Motutapu . Motutapu was used as a weapons bumker place for transhipping shells and mines to the fighting in the Pacific in WWII and there are plenty of decaying shelters from the 1942 period that held bombs and shells back in the day. it was safer to off load there than in Auckland port. There were too large calibre naval guns mounted in concrete bunkers looking out to sea at the highest point . THe guns were removed for scrap in the fifties but the concrete emplacements are still there. The whole port of Auckland was mines with minefields north of Rangitoto to the mainland and from Motuike back to the white cliffs further south. The only way into the Auckland port was between Motutapu and Motuihe islands with army garrisons and gunners on both sides. And that's how it was for five years during the war .
@@ValieBallard Here's a couple o f others that are hard to find out . - During the time that the marines were in Nz they had to camp somewhere and the place chosen was the gardends and bush down below the Auck War Memorial museum. Lots of the trees were cut down - it was all grass but in winter because of the run off that place woulud turn into a wet Hell hole. Some parts of Auck get 1200 mm in an average year - imaginge being on a grassy slope in that. Also during WWII the Nzers had an arrangement to repat Jap embassy staff and businessemen who were caught in NZ with the outbreak of war ie Pearl hbr happened, UK declaired ware shortly after that against the Japanese and Nz and Australian followed within days. No what happened was a disaster. The US Pilot who was taking the civilians out in a B24 tookk off with he Gyro caged. So all his bank and vertical indicator was out. He spun in in some paddocks out W Auckland way and aeveryone on board as killed. Now since the Japs were treating Englsh and NZ prisoners terribly at the time the whole thing was a state secret for a cople of years . Finally the Na government owned up. I guess the remains were sent back to Japan post war. A family friend who lived in MT EDEN when he was alive (my father did some conveyancing work for this mech and civil eng business at one point) He worked indirectly as a lab hack on the Manhattan project in about 42. Later on he ended up in the Nz army in 44 and in 45-6 he was sent as a technical occupation sergeant to Japan - to Hiroshima - which was relatively safe by that time. His Name was Roy Russell Baker, born in B Aires. My father was a pacific airman in WWII in PBY aircraft their paths never crossed at that time. It's a small Welt - Argentina then MIT in Boston then Auckland and off to Japan and then back to Auckland to study Engineering in earnest. THe company he formed is now called Baker Cranes, but the family has no involvement in it - It was sold off rather than letting his sons run it into the ground !! He once offered me a job as a workshop supervisor and Eng designer. I said no. You should be able to find Baker Cranes in the yellow pages/Google.
@@ValieBallard I should clarify that the US marines were living under canvas in winter with pit toilets.... not much fun. But Tarawa was a lot worse...
@@ValieBallard if you type Bomber with Japanese aboard crashed Auckland WWII into google you will find some newspaper detail on that crash and how it was hushed up ... which is pretty easy to do considering that Nz government had full control over all cables and radio and the nearest serious land is 2700 km way.
Kiaora, welcome to Aotearoa. find a good bakery ask a local where the best pies and cake selections are. Our meat pies are the best in the world. Don't even bother eating Maccas or Dominos overpriced crap. You can eat your food at picnic tables provided at parks don't go and eat at the beach our seagulls will steal your food. 😅 Enjoy your stay here. I forgot to add a must try Fish and chips.
I am of the opinion that after some time, when you have seen many countries, you must do a special program in which you express your opinion and grade them on the basis of specific points. It will be delicious.
If you want the 14" Domino's pizza in NZ you have to order "extra large". The "large" is only 11.25" Edit: At other franchises the extra large may be called something else, like "jumbo" or "giant".
Kia ora, if u want pizza again, try dominos or pizza hut as they are more value for money, pak n save have a litre water for $1 and you could enjoy at a park or beach and still be way less than $275

This is a beautiful country my dude, welcome. I hope you see more it than just Auckland though, the further south you go, the better it gets.
The further south you go the more redneck hicks you encounter😊
Welcome to Aotearoa NZ beautiful family or whanau as we say here. Shop for food at Pak'n'Save it's so much cheaper and still great food.
Have a memorable stay. God bless you all.
Thank you! 😃♥️🫶🏻
Very Happy Family May God Bless you all😢❤
I hope you try the meat pies and fish and chips.
Great video ♥️ love seeing my family!
Loving the North Shore scenes

Welcome to New Zealand.
Hell pizza is far better than Pizza Hut or Domino's. Better still are the Italian Pizzarias which are everywhere.
Fruit and vegetables are cheaper at farmers' markets (usually held on weekends) or going to produce shops. Supermarkets are ridiculously expensive these days.
Free range eggs are the best as they're not pumped full of antibiotics.
Hope you have a wonderful time in our glorious country.
Welcome!
These are great tips!! Thank you!! We enjoyed it so much and our next trip I hope to try your recommendation!! :)
@ValieBallard You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed your visit and we're always happy to hear someone likes us enough to come back. 😁
Kia ora ❤ enjoy your stay here.
You just found out that America super sizes everything. That large pizza here is normal large size world wide. Welcome and have fun.
Waooo very nice and beautiful video , very beautiful family, really delicious food and nice enjoyment in new Zealand
That's my suburb. Hope you enjoyed Long Bay! Great place all year round.
We love it there!!
Welcome to New Zealand ❤
Just come across your page and would like to welcome you and the fambam to New Zealand 😁
♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you!
Please do not tip while in New Zealand. Most NZers (even the service staff ) do not want the tipping culture to become established in NZ.
It’s a huge relief, in America it adds up so fast!
Join local groups s this wwill help you out alot more (problems etc) Our Country is beautiful BUT we have the same problems as other countries, especially with drugs and your rights!!!!
Thank you for sharing these tips!! ♥️♥️♥️
Welcome to new Zealand sorry about the weather it gets better very good food much love ❤

Kiaora and Welcome to our wonderful country family

Try the dijon style mustard , in a jar. Lot better.
Keep Going you got a very unique and amazing content i wish you to make some long videos like of pakistani one you made❤
Auckland is beautiful
It is so pretty!! 🥹🥹
hahahaha yeah our groceries are expensive....and our eggs are out of this world expensive cos they brought in new laws recently about how egg chickens are kept, to be kinder.... so now all our eggs are happy eggs, they cost twice as much, but we still buy just as many as before....
Enjoy your fellas stay here
Hope use get chance to get welcomed on to are marae enjoy our warm hospitality use would like that
Long bay is hardly Nz.
That is so interesting!!! I had no idea!!
A family friend who lived in MT EDEN when he was alive (my father did some conveyancing work for this mech and civil eng business at one point)
He worked indirectly as a lab hack on the Manhattan project in about 42.
@@ValieBallard if you type Bomber with Japanese aboard crashed Auckland WWII into google you will find some newspaper detail on that crash and how it was hushed up ... which is pretty easy to do considering that Nz government had full control over all cables and radio and the nearest serious land is 2700 km way.
welcome to nz
Thank you!!
Welcome to Aotearoa 🎉
Thank you!!! ♥️
I am really miss you American family 😊
Please come back Pakistan 🇵🇰
Nice to meet all family
Nawwww Welcome family to Aotearoa. How awesome reach out if ever you need help or support with where to get things on the cheap in Auckland
@valieB you should visit also Saudi Arabia🇸🇦
We would LOVE to!! It’s really one of our top destinations!!
Make some video from ur hometown with family
Try shopping at Pak n Save for ‘slightly’ cheaper groceries
If you want the 14" Domino's pizza in NZ you have to order "extra large". The "large" is only 11.25"
Edit: At other franchises the extra large may be called something else, like "jumbo" or "giant".
Thank you for sharing this!!
looks like Orewa
And after your visit go home wherever that is👍🏾💯
Surely there is some room on the South Island for us don’t you think? 😉😆♥️
Takeaways for dinner and lunch a lot cheaper. Bakery for breakfast 🤌🏾
The bakery we visited in Glenview was very affordable and SO good!
Pak and save cheaper supermarket
Please do at Pak n save, it will save you lots!
The music is giving 'Lord of the Rings' 😊
Someone looking so gorgeous 🥰♥️
Please don't be creepy.
Prices really went up after covid compliances.
Kia ora, if u want pizza again, try dominos or pizza hut as they are more value for money, pak n save have a litre water for $1 and you could enjoy at a park or beach and still be way less than $275
Who does edit video in family...
Very nice editing
I do the editing :D thank you!! :D
