I bought the xz in 2017 and now is still working as well as the first Day that I bought it. The battery is Perfect, it didn't suffer any damage or Something like that, also the screen and the camera. Sony is one of the best in terms of quality. In fact, i think it is the best.
Yes, the XZ Premium is a great phone. I love how it feels in the hand when texting. Of all the phones I've used, I think it has the best balance when it's held in the hand while texting.
Such an amazing video! Love this battle. Big upgrade regarding the battery for the mark 2. Also the performance is noticeably better. The Xperia 1 is still a very good phone. But the Mark 2 goes over the top with the luxury of having a headphone jack 😉
My Xperia XZ3 (4GB RAM) performs much better in RAM management than this Xperia 1. Sony should fix this with a firmware update. Great video! Hope you'd do an in depth camera comparison between the two.
Sony have a habit, the first phone in the line always act as test subject, or unfinish product .same goes to xperia xz back then, really suck. Third generation or above of each line usually good.

After that Xperia Z3 comes as an overall polished Xperia Z series. Xperia XZ as you said sucked too and the Xperia XZ1 comes as a polished Xperia XZ with everything changed while keeping the same look. Same for Xperia 1 where Xperia 1 II comes to polish it from all aspects except front camera. Then Xperia 1 IV comes as a finished with everything polished even the front camera, however, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is known by overheating easily due to using Samsung node. The best Xperia 1 series and balanced is Xperia 1 II so far.

@@MrPanda-ke9rf Well, Xperia 1 Mark III is great for featuring all the things that a smartphone should have like the 120Hz display, larger battery and better specs, however, Xperia 1 III has exactly the same issue as Xperia 1 IV, its Snapdragon 888 chipset also suffers from overheating cuz S888 also has Samsung node. What makes Xperia 1, Xperia 5, Xperia 1 II, and Xperia 5 II better at managing heat, is the fact that Qualcomm was using the TMSC node instead of Samsung's. They have good overheating management and throttling. Qualcomm announced that they will switch from Samsung Foundry to TSMC starting from Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. So if you really want to upgrade to Xperia 1 III, I highly recommend to switch at least to the Xperia 1 IV where it has a polished screen with 50% brightness, polished Variable telepoto camera with continuous zoom, polished front camera ( switched from Samsung 8MP sensor to Sony's own Exmor 12MP front camera) , and better battery. They both have same overheating issue but nothing is serious or annoying. It is just the previous Xperia 1 series are better for the fact that Qualcomm was using the TMSC instead of Samsung.
I have a suggestion for your tests. In the multitasking test, I would rather you just tap the apps you're opening rather than opening up multitasking, then opening up the apps. It's just quicker. I hope you could take this into consideration. Love your videos either way.
Thanks for the suggestion. I used to do it that way for some videos but personally didn't like it as much. Might test going back to it for a video or two and see how it does.
I thought in your test the sound on the mark 1 was far better especially the highs more distinct. But is your mark2 faulty? Otherwise the mark 1 is still good but mark 2 far better. But front cameras are both poor.....mark less so. Thanks for a good video and shots of the river. I still enjoy my mark 1 but looking forward to the mark 3!

Awesome comparison as always. Was those weird checkered boxes you hiding personal info? Lol. Also I noticed the front camera on mark 2 has infinitely better dynamic contrast than the 1. Camera quality on rear is about same but the stabilization on 2 and focusing looks way better. With improved sharpness on telephoto lens as well.
What is use of comparing speeds of 2 sequential flagships? Of course they are blazingly fast with their huge price tags and the difference of 0.01 of a second is indeed negligible.
I always find it amusing that reviewers spend so much time and energy trying to find out which of two phones is faster by 0.1 second when launching or switching apps. In everyday use, hardly anyone notices even if one is faster by 0.5 second. :) :)
Had the 1 for a year, got the 11 four months ago must admit dont find much difference in performance, the 11camrra is a improvement but not vastly still needs inproving, speakers on the mk2 seem slightly muffled and distorted when on full volume, in my mind the 11 is an inprovement, but definately not worth the difference in price.
Today the battery is the difference, mine now had like 2740 instead of 3300. It doesn't let long, but it doesn't need to be changed. I'll buy the second generation later maybe, or the fifth.
@@talion7268 As I wrote, the mark II is and upgrade in almost every areal (except mark I is a bit more rounded in design). The camera configuration is miles ahead, but that seems to be upgraded every year (now Xperia Pro-I).
I have the XZ2 Premium and I saw a lot of videos from his and Xperia 1 cameras. I don't think he loses to the X1 on cameras, maybe even in the photos and night videos.

The Xperia 1 II has a newer speaker amplifier set up from Cirrus Logic. It can boost the speakers to 5w while protecting them.

Yeah think it's on video the audio quality isn't as clear as in person, but xperia 1 still sounds pretty good.

Switched from mark I to mark II, liked mark I, but mark II is a major upgrade, and overall the best phone I've ever had...
