    I've owned this Tenacious for several months now after seeing Slicey Dicey reviewing it. I ordered from Indiana Knives and got it to my door in Pa in two days. I absolutely love the Tenacious so glad they upgraded the blade.

    I just received this knife in the mail 📬 half serrated version while I would've preferred the plain blade version but for $75.65 w/taxes from a trusted seller on eBay I couldn't pass up this sweet deal. Though it's quickly growing on me living in the countryside where I'm always cutting tough materials it cuts through all that stuff with ease.

    I want to want it, but when you can get a Manix 2 for just 30 bucks more, I have to go for the US made construction with the ball bearing lock and G10 handle. I'm sure the Tenacious is a good knife, but I know that their Chinese knives a generating a greater profit margin, so I'll go premium.

    I had a tenacious years ago and loved it. Made a mistake and lost it. I upgraded to a PM2 but I still love that Tenacious cause it was great. Little big though. The blade shape always reminded me if a great white shark shape a little. Personally I'm rocking a Spidey Lil'Native and I absolutely love it.

    • @godforever27

      Big blade is always better. It does everything a small blade does but is also a better self defense tool. The smallest knife I have is a cheap Camilla I got for $12 and is only 2.2 inches. My everyday knife usually has to be at least 3 inches 3.5 or 4 is better imo. My everyday carry right now is a ganzo fh91 in d2 for only $26. The Kershaw link in 20cv will be my next purchase for $85. I would of bought that first but didn't find out about it till after I bought the d2 ganzo fh91. I am thinking between the resilience in s35vn or endura 4 k390 for my dad to have a really damn good knife. Leaning more towards the k390 one because it's a better steel and made in Japan vs the resilience that is made in China. The s35vn is also easier to sharpen and still holds a edge for awhile. I never had a Spyderco but always wanted a endura 4 because it used to be only $70 in vg10 but found out vg10 is not the best steel and now they are asking $95. I'm okay with paying the $140 for the k390 because it's a damn good super steel that holds an edge for a long time.

    From a lot of my own testing and the testing of others S35vn actually has a bit lower edge retention than S30V, though the 35 is a bit easier to sharpen. The difference might be like 5 to 10 percent but I’ve noticed it. I’m sure heat treat comes into play as well so I know either one will be good from spyderco.

    I just got the M4 + brown G-10 version in the mail moments ago. In person the scales look more like a slightly darker khaki but anyway now I have the regular 8cr13mov black G-10 version I bought nearly a decade ago & the blue LW S35VN last month version & now this M4 version. The tenacious has the best ergos right after the Manix IMO.

  • @AdamasOldblade

    Spyderco is really odd about their blade choices sometimes. I'm not going to pretend I know more than them, but when I first saw the Tenacious with S35VN the first thing I noticed was it was only limited to the blue scales, not a big deal but it was noticeable... I swear sometimes I'm just browsing for knives online and see a Spyderco I really want to order and see it's price and yet it's VG-10 steel and I'm deeply confused why they won't let that steel drop in price.

  • @joeeasterling5652

    I don't own a spyderco but I have been crushing on the spyderco stretch. I may try the tenacious first. I have been a Benchmade fan but, thinking I need to expand my horizons some.

    • @drewpfeif5028
      @drewpfeif5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I live an hour drive from Benchmade factory but carry mostly spyderco. The difference for me is cutting geometry. Spyderco knives are usually ground thinner and slice way better. If you're hard on your knives Benchmade is better for you. Bugout is the exception. That thing is a laser

  • @dude28405
    @dude28405 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like my Spyderco tenacious way more than I should. I’ve watched everybody trash it a few people praise it but I’ve had the knife for over four years it ends up in my pocket all the time I carry other knives I usually go back the next day to my Spyderco tenacious. My only thing I don’t like about it is the blade retention can be something to be desired but it is not hard to get to hair shaving sharpness. I would be interested in a higher steel life for this knife

  • @matthewadler1329
    @matthewadler1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    S30V actually should hold an edge longer if its treated right, but it's not as tough or easy to sharpen. I've never had an issue with S30V chipping, but I do definitely find it harder to sharpen than S35VN. S30V does a great high polished edge, but 35 is better for a toothy edge. Its amazing how different the two are given the very similar composition. Both awesome steels, but 35 is my preference.

    S30V has better edge retention than S35VN it was only made to improve the toughness and stainless. Neither S35VN nor S45VN have as good of edge retention as S30V.

    • @drewpfeif5028
      @drewpfeif5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're 100% correct, but they're all so close that most people will never notice the difference. Heat treatment and blade geometry will make more of a difference than which of those steels you have.

      @gladeshunter8796 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Initial impressions... For $100, I'd recommend this over a Delica any day. The back-lock might be a little more robust, but who's really using a Delica or this for anything that would make a huge difference? But you can already get a Code 4 for like $70-80ish, sometimes even less, and that's a badass knife and very comparable. You can get a PM2 for as little at $110 sometimes or a Bugout easily for $100ish for around the same price, though and personally I'd rather have one of those instead. I think of they were going to do this, they should have gone with making a PM2 lightweight instead, or make the Tenacious more like the Para 3 lightweight. I've been saying I'd LOVE the Para 3 LW so much more if it had a little longer blade. But for the price of this I'd rather have a PM2 or Code 4.

    I actually don't like the Spyderco Tenacious at all. Why because the ricasso is not straight on the Tenacious and it's on an angle so the sharpened edge at the heel of the blade virtually touches the handle scale. The Spyderco Tenacious is also a liner lock, combined with the angled ricasso it creates a potentially dangerous finger guillotine situation!!! Look at the 5:59 mark in the video you can see what I'm referring to.

    One thing I have always wondered about. As someone that not a huge fan of the regular pocket clips and spoon clips. Is it possible to get Spyderco's wire clip that we see on some og the lightweight models and put those on the common models (Delica,Endura,Tenacious,Manix,PM) ? Yeah I might be strange, but I really do prefer the wire clips. If not it's not a super big issue and I will just take off the pocket clip and get or make a small leather pocket pouch. I love folders but so many companies just don't make good pocket clips (if you use your knifes). It might just be that because I got smaller hands that they create weird hot spots,but for about 7/10 knifes that I buy I end up taking off the pocket clip. I don't get why so many companies get this so wrong. They spend so much time developing great handle ergonomics blade geometry and then just slap a clip on it they got laying around at the factory that ruins the whole ergos of the knife they worked so hard on.

  • @The4cp
