    sweet! lovely spot and the most simple of all angling disciplines. I really like it. What a contrast to my usual UK match fishing tackle that consists of a 14.5 mt and a 16 mt pole, 3 x float rods, 3 x feeder rods, 6 x reels, 2 keep nets, umbrella, luggage to carry it all, seatbox + attachments, a gallon of assorted maggots, casters etc, a few kilos of groundbait/pellets/hemp then to top it off an incredible amount of 'terminal tackle' ie hooks, weights, line, floats x 100 at least, pole rigs, feeders, various gadgetry like disgorgers, rod rests and bank sticks, bread punch, hook tyer, riddles, bait boxes, bait dropper, catapults of various sizes, and I'm sure I've forgotten lots of other things that we matchmen accumulate and consider essential. Yes, the thought of getting to the bank side with a rod in my pocket some flys in another and a tiny landing net on a zinger needing nothing bigger than a pocket sized box for all the tackle I need sounds absolutely amazing!

    I have the $10 Goture 9ft. caught 100s of fish including a 5lb carp that bent the rod double , no ill effects.

    Nice, thanks for the demonstration! I've got a cheap (and much shorter) tenkara-style rod coming from Ali Express's anniversary sale. I've never tried any sort of fly fishing, so it'll be neat to try it. Brookies and rainbows in my area too, cant wait!

    Thanks for the review. I fish in the deep south, and a wussy rod won't stand up to the fish strength and the need to use force to avoid the many hidden logs and limbs. I'm gonna give this rod a try.

    Thanks for the Tenkara rod review! I purchased the same rod about a week ago as my first Tenkara rod setup. Albeit I can't take my rod out where I trout fish because the season is closed until the third Saturday in April. The 6 flies were poorly tied so I stripped the hooks bare and tied flies with proper head proportions so I would have confidence in the tenkara style flies. Tight lines! Cheers!

      You're welcome! Its a great first tenkara rod for the money. I didn't try the flies but I might in the spring or tie my own. Tight Lines as well.

    I got the much cheaper aluminum and carbon fiber version of this rod for $20 and it has served me well so far.

    A year later, would you still recommend this rod? I see a lot of reviews that say sections easily break.

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a little heavy compared to more expensive ones. And I did break mine because I scratched it on a rock first. But I would recommend it to try it for your first tenkara to see if you like it

      @@BendItFishing thanks. I'm really interested in making the switch from my ultralight spinning setup to tenkara for fishing trout streams when backpacking. My spinning rod is pretty versatile, and I like the idea of stiffer action Tenkara. However, I also don't want to end up with 4or 5 Tenkara rods. Lol

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      7:3 has more back bone and more tip flex so it worked well for that 13 inch rainbow

    Not sure how long ago you made this video, but now since you've had the rod for at least 6 months, how durable is it? I saw on another video where a guy easily broke his, so that had me wondering about this rod.

      I did snap this rod on a perch the next year. But the rod was scratched first as it was in the middle of the rod. But other than that very durable and has an extra tip

    For my needs a cane pole won't work, I need something that collapses down to no more than 24 inches and cane poles don't collapse whatsoever. Some of the very expensive cane poles can break down into sections, but each section is about 4 foot long, and those like I said are very expensive, I know, because I have one for fly fishing.

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried Tenkara? It casts just like a fly rod

    • @Rekmeyata
      @Rekmeyata 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's the same technique basic technique as fly fishing, it's the way the Japanese and Chinese have been fishing for over 100 years. Granted, fly fishing does get more complicated with the different cast methods, but without a pro fly person teaching you, it's very difficult to master on your own, whereas with Tenkara style it won't take you years to learn; and Tenkara is cheaper because you don't have a reel, you don't have more expensive longer fly lines to mess with either. American fly fishing people are beginning to discover Tenkara and quite a few are switching over, and one needs to ask themselves why? So you can laugh all you want, but it's a legitimate method of fishing that pros are discovering.

      So its the same as fishing with a cane pole! Fly rod with reel and line isnt that expensive either you don’t need 1000 setup to fly fish I started out over 30 plus years ago with a 25 $ fly rod and taught myself to fly fish and later to tie flies ! Its same as dapping with fly rod!
