As a Derby fan this was great, but a blessing in disguise for Leeds. That extra season got them ready for the premier league and they did themselves justice, having a great season and playing good football. Meanwhile my team scraped a relegation battle 🤣🤣 got a lot of respect for Leeds supporters and their following. Always in great numbers and singing.
That’s exactly what my dad said straight after the game and Hes a massive Leeds fan he said “this shows we’re not ready for the prem just yet to go mid table championship one season and get promoted the next might have been too much. one more solid season in the championship won’t do us any harm” to be fair he was right 😂
How different it’s been for both our clubs three years on.
Very emotional watching this now that we are promoted. In my 50 years of being a Leeds supporter we’ve spent 26 years in the top division and 24 outside it, so we’ve had more lows than most big clubs. We know how to cherish the highs when they come. MOT.
I would argue that you’ve had more highs than most mid size clubs - I suppose it’s all about perspective.
Nice try, but we’re not a mid-sized club. Our history, our global fan base and our trophy cabinet are that of a big club. Liverpool and Man Utd fans couldn’t care less about fixtures with the likes of Crystal Palace, Burnley or Southampton (all typical PL mid-sized clubs). But a visit to Elland Road? That’s something to look forward to. Because we’re a big club with a proper fan base.

@@johnkenny366 throwing stones in glass houses are we considering how much of a clown show Leeds were before Bielsa? I do however agree that all 3 should have gone. I think the reason why Keogh was singled out was cos he was the captain so should have led by example but instead he went along with the stupidity of the other 2. Plus was the one got the massive injury whilst not doing his job (ie he didn't sustain it in training or in a match) which meant he was out for the rest of his contract so we were paying him to do nothing for 15 months through no fault of the club and I doubt he was going to be extended under normal circumstances as he would be 34/ close to 35 in June 2021
@tom Bardsley I’m irish and you can say I’m biased towards keogh but I just feel that he got into the car the other two were driving he did nothing illegal that night but boar the brunt of the other twos action. I also agree Leeds fans we are all clowns and if you did take up all the issues they had the club would be fined billions 😂 but yes in recent times I just feel that was injustice

Both the Derby and Villa defeat have made us (West Brom) and Leeds stronger.
Michael LBram norwich werent even that good also villa and sheffield weren’t amazing, the championship is harder this season 100% with Fulham, Brent ford and forest all stronger this season, Leeds and west brom have both improved lots bringing in new players

I started this documentary thinking it was going to be a great feel good story as I was enjoying seeing Leeds flying in the Premier League. I had absolutely no idea this was NOT their winning season and the ending just devastated me as I was SOOO ready for a Happy ending to all their hard work.....thank god they had a follow up 2 episodes which were beautiful especially with the Leeds fans singing...Leeds Are Falling Apart Again with their hometown lad outside the stadium!!!!

Isn't that the owner greeting the players in the tunnel after the match? It just shows how emotionally involved he and his players are in the team. Rare for clubs these days. Also Victor Orta crying in the end- I'm just impressed by the emotional investment the staff has in the team. No wonder it got promoted this year

As a derby fan, this was a great night for our club, however i feel for the leeds lads and fans because football can be so beautiful and make us all feel amazing, on the other hand can break your heart and shatter your spirit temporarily....leeds are a great club with history and passion throughout. They will be back in the premier league very soon, meanwhile we are picking up the pieces from previous owners...thats why we love the game and everything it offers.

As much as I detest Leeds fans, I’d love to have them back in the premiership. As a Man Utd man there were 3 big games for us. Liverpool, Leeds & Arsenal in that order. Absolute monster games & monster atmosphere!

For sure, the saddest moment in the younger history of that great club with it's glorious history and tradition.
But believe me, it can hit you even worse as a football fan and that is just a fraction of that, what my club undergones the last 16 years.
Also 16 years away from professionall football and after two insolvencies we suffered a lot. 16 years only in league 4 and 5 in germany. And here we had a system, where the champion of league 4 had to play Playoffs against another regional champion of league 4. Only the winner of that Playoffs will go up to league 3.
And we failed three times in a row in that Playoffs. One of them only in penalty Shootout. And after the third time we failed, some of our supporters took care for an abdandoned match. We got a very high penalty by the German football Association (DFB) and they wanted to set a warning example with. So, they wanted to dicount us 12 points in the following season. But we complained in court. And we got right, so the DFB was not allowed to discount us points and we only had to pay a high fine.
Furthermore, they changed finally the rules, which allows three different league champions in 4th league to go up without Playoffs anymore. And one year later in the 2018/ 2019 season, it was our year. Despite of all disappointments of the years before, we had a great team again. We "shaved" the whole league and finally, after 16 long years, only with suffering and sorrow with that club, we did it and got up.
We are not such a great club as Leeds United. But I think we have some similarities. Therefore, congrats to Leeds and I think every Fan of our club can understand what that means for a whole region to return and "come back home"

Starkers 1997 we weren’t expected to go up. We were the last team in the playoffs so on paper had the lowest chance to go up out of the 4. Plus no team that had lost the first leg at home in the semi finals had ever turned it around and won the tie until derby did. And as much as it sucks that didn’t manage to win the playoff final, we did the premier league a service by stopping Leeds that year

The Leeds fanbase just like Liverpool's and Man U's are arrogant cos they were good in the past and look down at other clubs that "aren't as big as them". The likes of Man City right now are bigger than Leeds in my opinion. Derby have a similar history to Leeds yet we don't beat our chests and say that we have a divine right to be in the premier league. And yes you can mock the 11 point season but 2 other teams were just as bad in seasons come (Villa 2016 and Huddersfield 2019)
