  • Last week we looked at the arteries of the upper limb, so let's follow the arteries of the lower limb too while we're in the mood. We'll see that many of the themes are repeated here.

"You should be able to palpate your femoral pulse. You might wanna try that right now... unless you're in public in which case keep your hands out of your trousers."
    I love this guy.😁

If there could be an option to subscribe more than once, I could have done it millions time. Thank you so much Dr. I am working toward human Anatomy not to be like you but to follow your footstep for sure and give back freely to the community. I have never seen you face to face but I started praying for you since the first day I came across with you on TH-cam, so that you can stay healthy and sound in order to benefit from your wealth of knowledge.

    Great video as always!
Notes on Arteries of the Lower limbs:
    COMMON ILIAC ARTERY ->
bifurcates into INTERNAL & EXTERNAL ILIAC ARTERIES ->
ext. iliac passes inguinal ligament to become FEMORAL ARTERY ->
femoral artery goes behind the knee via adductor hiatus to become POPLITEAL ARTERY ->
bifurcates into ANTERIOR & POSTERIOR TIBIAL ARTERIES ->
ant tibial artery goes back to the front and becomes DORSALIS PEDIS ARTERY, while post tibial artery becomes LATERAL & MEDIAL PLANTAR ARTERIES ->
dorsalis pedis artery & lateral plantar artery join to form the DEEP PLANTAR ARCH
Where to palpate pulse (superficial arteries):
femoral pulse - just inferior to inguinal ligament
    popliteal pulse - popliteal fossa
posterior tibial artery pulse - behind medial malleolus
dorsalis pedis artery - dorsum of foot

Really informative and excellent explanation (as always). There is one problem though, I wish the limb you were showing had a rotating device on the bottom so you could rotate it without making the plastic square base (that's attached to the leg) scrape against the table. The noise set my teeth on edge! Other than that, the video was great!

Sammo,...someone will soon invent a semi-permeable membrane "device to serve to add collateral" circulation for arterial stenosis or for stroke appearances distal to the heart.
Like having "gills' further down the body...adding oxygen for rehabilitation. Why not YOU Sam!!
