- Daddy Cat meets his cute kittens for the first time. What happens? At first the father cat comes close to the newborn baby kittens but it's his reaction to the mother cat that's really adorable!
Because he mated with her, on a very basic level he knows they are his. But, grooming mama is a very sweet thing to do. That is a sign of pure affection.

@Is really toasty here Cats use cleaning as a sign of trust and affection. Close enough to refer to it as kissing for this.

I think it's less of remembering to kiss her and more like a desire to give her a kiss. Cats are loving and affectionate social animals.

@@charon_lix yes. Also fun fact that a female cat can have multiple pregnancies at once... The problem is when it's birth time, all kittens get out, which means the kittens in early stages of development will most likely die

Clearly she's trusting him. Not unusual if they live underhthe same roof. On the other hand, I've seen cats go ballistic when a male merely got near. Understandable, since Toms have been known to sometimes consider kittens unusually shaped mice.

@@Sloth-tr7bd you missing the point, there´s a reason why ppl who talk about it on overall wholesome videos, put a trigger warning about it, and let ppl skip it, it brings a negative side of things that we dont need to hear about on a wholesome moment, cuz it ruins it, it takes your mind from enjoying stuff, to the sad reality of cat´s nature, unnecessary, there´s a time and place for everything
would be like me commenting on a "soldiers coming home" wholesome video saying "they are lucky their loved ones came back in one piece, not like the usually one legged ppl who lose their limbs at war or get mentally scarred forever"
@@Sloth-tr7bd He's clearly not going to harm them. Some male cats kill kittens - especially male kittens. This is not common. Also, they don't eat them even if they kill them!
When males cats kill kittens it's usually kittens from another male. They're attempting to end a rivals bloodline. It's not because they think they're mice. This happens often with lions when a new male takes over another male's territory
This is beautiful. The babies are a glorious mix of Mum and Dad with their little black head tops! The icing on the cake was Dad giving Mum a kiss.
There seems to be a black one near the mother cat's head. It's hidden under her arm. But, you can see it's bottom when they do a close-up at around 1:05

I love cats but as obligate carnivores their compassion is usually limited to close family.

I’ve seen pics of male cats providing support to their mate while she gives birth too.
I assume these are the house cats, since the feral once ain't so eager to raise kittens

It is a lot more common in house cats.

The daddy is a house panther and the mommy and kittens are all gray Tabby M kitties. I lost my little house panther a year ago (also male).
I'm sorry for your loss. Yes, they're all tabby kittens. That's a surprise. I wish one of them were black like their dad. It would have been so nice to see how Oliver looked like as a baby kitten!
@@catwomanjournals I believe the black cat gene is recessive, which means that the mother probably has no copies of it so there was never any chance any kittens she bears will be black cats, but that means that the kittens all are carriers of that gene, so any kittens they had would have a chance of having the black cat trait. So his grandchildren will at least likely have that trait.

@@medexamtoolsdotcom Yes, that's right, the black cat gene is recessive. I actually googled it a while ago as I was wondering why is it so that none of them is black. Oliver's (the black cat) mother was black and his sister is a tabby so their father probably was a tabby as well. Actually one of the kittens looks just like his sister so he did pass on his genes after all!

This is especially beautiful given that male cats have been known to kill their offspring. I'm not sure why some Toms do this. I'm wondering if this Tom has been neutered after fathering the kittens, desexed Toms are more friendly towards their kittens. But otherwise, this is wholesome to see!
No he hasn't been neutered yet but he'll probably be eventually.
Cats only kill their offspring if they are born malformed or with some handicap. We may not see it but they do. And it's their natural instinct to kill any cub that won't make it anyway.
